The Oakland Arena to be renamed...

The Oracle

just announced on KNBR..Oracle has signed a 10 year sponsorship agreement.

I'm against corporate names to begin with and was happy that nobody cared enough to make a real bid at the naming rights for the Warriors court.  But considering some of the horrible names out there, the Oracle doesn't sound that bad - it has a mysterious ring to it.

What do you think?

Heh, I actually kinda like it
Usually corporate sponsorships result in the dumbest of names, but The Oracle is pretty bad@$$ sounding.

Couldn't care less
I will never call it that and I know I'm not in the minority here. Candlestick will always be Candlestick, the Oakland Coliseum will always be that, not The Mac or whatever the hell they call it. Same with the Arena in Oakland. Only name I would get behind would be "The Pink Taco Arena" like what the Arizona Cardinals new stadium was almost named. It seems like a giant waste of money to me that these corporations spend on naming rights...I am no further inclined to buy Oracle products (not even sure what they make to be brutally honest) now that the arena is named after it. Apparently some people are though, otherwise these corporations wouldn't keep spending so much for a name.

It really helps with their name recognition. You would not believe how much business this kind of move generates for companies.

You know this means....
....that we'll be trading for the Matrix!!!  Awesome.  We'll dodge Western Conference bullets left and right.
Top 7 of '07 draft = Warriors only chance of being good over the next 5 years

It's Tight
It's not like the Arena in Oakland was a good name. Plus, I'd rather have The Oracle than the Ross Dress For Less Arena. LOL. And I think Oracle makes vacuums so I guess it just personifies how much we suck.

i like it
sounds good and Oracle is a HUGE company...HUGE. The industry leader for enterprise level database software. Hopefully this opens the door for Larry Elison (the owener/CEO of Oracle and mega billionaire) to buy the W's. He has been trying to buy a Bay Area sports franchise for years now. Think Mark Cuban of the Bay Area.

Let's Go Oakland! Gas, Brake, Dip.

"Think Mark Cuban of the Bay Area"
But I hate mark cuban!    I like cubanos though!!    If they want to change the name it should be   "The Oaktown arena"
