great Thread!
This is an awesome topic and I have spent the weekend discussing just this with my Dad (he is a huge W's fan, got me hooked on it at an early age. Thanks Dad!) If you look at it logically, based on talent, home court...home and home back-to-backs..etc. You would come up with what YoYo has, 9-7. However, that would be DEVASTATING to this team given the amount of home games they have early. I am going to go with an optimistic approach and sadly a neccessary one if the W's hope to get to get a jump on the playoff race.

Nov 1 vs LA Lakers - W
Nov 3 vs Portland - W
Nov 4 at Utah - W
Nov 6 at Dallas - L
Nov 7 at New Orl/OKC - L

Nov 20 vs Phoenix - L
Nov 22 vs Denver - W
Nov 24 at Denver - L
Nov 25 vs Utah - W
Nov 27 vs San Antonio - L
Nov 29 vs Indiana - W

11-5 (but that 5 game streak will be tough)

Question for ~0.500 projection
If you are projection something like 8-8 or 9-7, are you?:
  1. Counting on J-Rich missing or being unproductive in several games?
  2. Saying we have a very little chance of making the playoffs?
I know that we still NEED to "gel" under Nellie.  With only the preseason under him, I'm sure we aren't at 100% of what we could be.  So I understand if you claim "chemistry" as your reason.

I also understand if you don't want to "jinx" us.  Or you don't want to be over confident.

Here's my deal:

Even though we have a fair share of minor injuries, I think we're ready to go.  I mean, BD is nearly 100%.  That'll be the biggest question mark (injury-wise) all season.  If he's healthy, we should be playing well.

This schedule is SO CAKE!!!!  12 of 16 at home?!?!??  Look at those teams we are playing?!?!?  That is JV type stuff right there.  Looking at the rest of our schedule, we've got a long road ahead of us.

I'm just thinkin' that we HAVE TO WIN NOW.  If we're worse than 10-6, I'm going to be scared about our playoff chances.  Yes, of course, it's early in the season.  But we have no margin for error.  We need a fast start so we can do our classic mid-season tank job and stay alive.

We'll need to finish about 0.537 (44 Wins) to make it to the playoffs.  Every team goes on slumps and slides.  Here is our chance to streak out of the gates and build some cushion.

You're right
The Dubs have gotta take at least 10 of the first 16, take advantage of the home games and get off to a great start, or they're gonna be out of it pretty quickly. 8-8 just ain't gonna cut it.

We'll make the playoffs
J-Rich is going to take a little time to adjust to playing again, and I expect that the team will take a little time to gel before we start rocking, hence the 9-7 start.

I've predicted 44 wins this season and am keeping that prediction. That should be enough to "sneak" into the playoffs. Hopefully the Warriors will exceed that.

pretty easy schedule
for the first month. we have a ton of home games, and we play a lot of teams that, like us, are gonna take time to gel like the nuggets, pacers, and hornets (portland to, but if we dont win that one i'm not quite sure what i'll do) and the diifference between us and them is that we've been together last season, and most of us the year before, so we gel on the court, but for others they need time to gel on the court, which i think is more important
