First the A's move to Fremont, Now the Niners want to move to Santa Clara!!!!!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2654743

What has this world come to? Bay Area sports is getting very strange. The only team left in San Fran would be my Giants. The Niners just aren't the Niners if they're not in SF. And, even though I don't care about the A's, it's just weird to see them move. I personally love SF and they definitely need to have more than 1 team. We should petition to move the Warriors there!

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

no....
why are all professional sports trying to leave the Bay Area...? please dont leave niners... the 49ers got their name from the SF goldrush people or something like that didnt they? it wouldnt be sensible for them to move to LA or something. they would definately have to change their name if they do.

No one leaving the bay area
From 49ers.com
http://49ers.com/pressbox/news_detail.php?PRKey=2515

There just goin to try Santa Clara. The name also will not change. It will stay SF 49ers.

Also said that if Santa Clara did not work, it would be somewhere else in the Bay Area.

So to your comment "why are all professional sports trying to leave the Bay Area...?"
No one is A's to Fremont and Niners to Santa Clara both still in the Bay Area.

Just doesn't seem right
The A's thing I didn't care about...but the San Francisco Forty-Niners in Santa Clara...just doesn't seem right.

Sorry Niners fans
Welcome aboard the losing your team boat. I don't care about the Niners at all but I genuinely, truly feel for you. Especially all the feelings going through your head on this first day you find out. It feels like your heart is being ripped out and life sucks and its not fair. And all that is true. I have an idea for all of us: floating stadiums. So for example one week the Niners can play in SF and then they can move the stadium to say Santa Clara for the next game, then maybe Gilroy or something for the next one, you get the idea. Not so sure the technology is there quite yet....I'm still waiting for my Hover Board a la Marty McFly.

It's crazy!
Never thought I'd see the day the Niners wouldn't be playing in da 'stick. Corporate greed at its worst.

How about they field a decent team and get an owner with some class and a clue before they threaten to leave town?

Where do the fans live?
Are there more fans in the city or down south? If down in the south bay then a move would make sense, you can call them anything no matter where they play, how about the Golden State 49ers?

Lets just make it easy
And change all the franchises names and just get it over with.
Golden State Warriors
Golden State Forty Niners
Golden State Raiders
Golden State Athletics
Golden State Giants

One thing I have always been jealous of is the Pittsburgh sports teams all have the same color schemes: Penguins, Pirates and Steelers are all Black and Gold. Talk about easy wordrobe coordination! SF and Oakland would have to split up but I suggest the same theory applies to both cities. As an Oakland resident, may I suggest silver and black for our teams? Only because they are the coolest colors. What about you SF fans out there? What would you go with?

Colors
I've got a fairly good warriors cap so I'll stick with blue and gold!

Blue and Gold
Im cool with the blue and gold, just get rid of the orange PLEASE

Orange
Yep, their sweatshirts look like they are wearing tiny kiddie life preservers!

it's all about the skrilla scratch paper
silicon valley is the new epicenter of corporate cash for the bay.  sf and the 'town are more bedroom communities and, to varying degrees, financial and administrative centers.  of course there is mucho dinero in SF, too, but not the flashy kind that wants to own franchises.

the young turks who want to live the high life are at oracle, google, cisco and the rest...they'll buy the luxury boxes, the season tix, the advertising space, and so on.

All-time Oakland Warriors starting five: Hardaway, Richardson, Mullin, Larry Smith, Robert Parish

How about
The Bay Area teams have a lot of good color schemes.  My favorites in order are

Niners (Love the red and gold)
Raiders (Silver and black reflects the crazy fans well)
Sharks (I don't know why but teal with a lil black is awesome)
Giants (It's a classic)
Cal (Blue and Gold reminds me of the Blue Angels)
Warriors (Kinda bland in my opinion)
Stanford (even more bland than the Warriors)
A's (I don't know why but Green and Yellow just seems ugly to me...)
