OPEN THREAD: Game #32 - Warriors at Kings

warriors@kings.jpeg

Warriors (W-L): 16-15 (8th in West)

Kings (W-L): 12-15 (11th in West)

Time: 7:00 PM PST

TV: FSN Bay Area

Radio: KNBR 1050

What's that? A two game win streak? Four wins in their last five? Where the heck was I? These Warriors are starting to look more like a NBA version of the Indianapolis Colts. Just not as good or as pretty. In fact they have no resemblance to the Colts, but I like to think that Baron is the QB of our team like Peyton Manning, JRich is our lead offensive threat like Marvin Harrison, and Monta Ellis is like the young prodigy Joseph Addai. Come to think of it the only real similarity between the Warriors and Colts is that they both win at home, but look terrible on the road. Let's hope the Warriors can improve their abysmal road record of 3-10 by beating our friends to the north, the Sacramento Kings (check out Sactown Royalty).

On a separate note, as Warrior fans we should all do our part and flood the All Star balloting with our favorite players. The closer February comes, the more likely we are going to have an All Star game without any Warrior representation! If anything Baron should be considered. My boy Yao could use a point guard like him!

A picture for Zorgon and of course Yaobutta!

Vegas Odds: Kings favored by 4

Predictions:

  • Warriors win by 7.
  • Absolutely NO Defense tonight. Both score 110+.
  • Mike Dunleavy scores 15+.
  • Kevin Martin scores over 30 points.
  • Matt Barnes is our player of the game with 29 points.
  • Ike Diogu gets in a solid 6 minutes of play.

I've actually put in appoximately 30 votes for my good friend FOYAL. He'll have a career high! And he may come within only MILLIONS of votes behind YAO!

But of course, I vote for all the Warriors+Grant Hill to get to Vegas also. I can hope!

LOL
I'd love to see Yao and Foyle on at the same time. It would single-handedly slow the game down to molasses hahaha

Best
Combo ever! They could Dominate the NBA. That would be a sight.

Baron Davis poster, please.
The kind you passed out last night on the bridge - not a posterizing during the game tonight, pretty please. I'll be at Arco and hopefully I won't have a voice left from cheering for the Kings to win. Mwaaahahaha! Looking forward to a good game. No injuries on either side! Matt should get a great home-town reception. Could you guys please put a leash on him for just one night? Huh?

"and hopefully I won't have a voice left from cheering for the Kings to win"

You sure you aren't a warriors freak? You spend lotsa time here for a king's fan?

I'm a sorta-kinda Warriors freak...
...via being an East Bay/Oakland girl by birth. Rick Barry was IT when I was a kid. I'll admit it, there is a part of me that really wants the Dubs to succeed and at least make it to round one this year. It's time and the pieces are coming together. So, I watch all of your games and this blog is a great resource.

Warriors by 1
I actually think this game is going to be tougher than we think. Remember, the Warriors are a poor squad on the road. The ball movement just dies away from the Oracle. Hopefully there will be a ton of Warriors fans making some noise at Arco tonight to make it feel somewhat like a home game.

It'll be a good game for sure. Must see TV!

Predictions

  • A close game that comes down to the final minutes.
  • Matt Barnes DESTROYS the Kings.
  • Ike gets a chance to abuse the soft Kings' frontline
  • Andris Biedrins goes for 15 and 15

by Atma Brother ONE on Dec 30, 2006 1:21 PM PST reply actions

I predict
that if Mike Montgomery were still coaching, Adonal would go for a career-high 20 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 blocks. Triple-Double!

FOYLE OWNS THE KINGS! REALIZE IT, ELLIE!

Stock prediction
Kings by 2 in a gut-wrenching 4th quarter collapse that results in me putting my foot through the TV.
  • J-Rich finally breaks out with 24 points.
  • Dunn gets a technical foul. You know, like the one he should have had last night on his second travelling violation . . .

by bloodsweatndonuts on Dec 30, 2006 3:31 PM PST reply actions

To Sleepy Freud
We can't beat the Jazz and the Lakers. We have really bad matchup problems with the Lakers, and the same goes for the Jazz. The Jazz have been the initiator of one of our 3 blowouts.

However, I think we can hang with the Suns this year. We lost on a 3 from Nash only, and I feel we will get revenge on the road if we can keep our streak up. We;re basically the same team, anyway.

I'd go with Spurs, Lakers, and Jazz.

From Yahoo:
"It's not about proving I'm sexy," said swingman Mickael Pietrus, who is wearing a protective plastic cover because of a broken nose. "Everybody is getting going for us, and that's what we need."

Mussleman is a punk.
what is he doing leaving all his starters in for this blowout?!?! is he trying to start Knicks vs Nuggets pt.2???

by ZombieWarrior on Dec 30, 2006 8:50 PM PST reply actions

score is 99-66 queens
and Mussleman leaves Bibby, Kevin Martin, AND Brad Miller in. Now I know they suck but whats up with leaving your starters in the game when its an obvious blowout? Mussleman is disrespecting Nellie.

by ZombieWarrior on Dec 30, 2006 8:51 PM PST reply actions

Are you joking?
You do realize that the Kings bench was responsible for hanging a 30 deficit on your team right?

The Kings starters were in to give the bench a quick breather...take a look at the box score on the Kings starters:

Salmons - 18 minutes
Artest - 12 minutes
Miller - 22 minutes
Martin - 30 minutes
Bibby - 31 minutes

i dont care, we dont need to lose baron also.

by Athletix Man on Dec 30, 2006 9:06 PM PST reply actions

yeah.
who cares if we're gonna be using four fowards... just dont put Baron at risk!!!

by ZombieWarrior on Dec 30, 2006 9:11 PM PST up reply actions

it always bothered me when teams up big
keep shooting 3's. It's not just cause it's against the warriors. Don't think it was right when barnes kept up at it against the kings last time at the end.

Kinda like don't steal in baseball when up big.

by Athletix Man on Dec 30, 2006 9:10 PM PST reply actions

Nellie finally took out Baron
FINALLY!!! He subbed in Barnes for Baron. It's about freaking time Nellie.

by ZombieWarrior on Dec 30, 2006 9:14 PM PST reply actions

Hmm
I was watching yet I wasn't at a computer.

Terrible calls by the refs, as most of you have been saying.

And don't worry, ANYBODY could beat the Hornets at this point, they're shorthanded as....well, a guy with really really short hands. The starting lineup is:

C- Tyson Chandler
PF- "Unstoppable Baby!" Marc Jackson/Cedric Simmons
SF- Desmond Mason
SG- Rasual Butler
PG- Jannero Pargo

Remember one of the Jazz we got in the Derek Fisher trade and he got cut? Name: Devin Brown? Yeah, he's the Hornets backup PG right now. Yes, a scrub playing way out of position. Granted, they beat the Nuggets, but they had 8 players (NBA MINIMUM to play a game).

More Info on that Comeing up on the Super Awesome Warriors-Hornets Preview Diary (It will be more in depth than any regular game post that you see, I know both teams in depth).

Memphis has no coach, Seattle is at home, and so we should have a 3 game win streak to lead into the game at the Suns.

Keep our heads up!

by Zorgon on Dec 30, 2006 9:26 PM PST reply actions

Marc Jackson
Had an Unstoppable Baby! game last night. 20+ in a blowout, bringing that bad karma our way.

He killed two birds with one stone tonight.

We'll have to get him back on Jan 2nd.

i'm with Zorgon
that's why you have depth on the roster.
