Where Do We Go from Here?

Very difficult to watch the GSW lately. They seem to just play about 10 points behind everyone.

PG: BD is an excellent PG. He has room to mature, but I don't think the solution is trying to trade him. Fish is an excellent bench PG, especially when he stays within his role. Monta is awesome for such a young kid. We are solid at PG.

SG: JRich is excellent. Sure, he plays "I really hope you miss" defense, and I can shoot FT as well as him, but that's up to the coaching staff to bring out the best in this superb talent. Personally, I think MP should be our bench SG. MP just doesn't have a complete or consistent game to be a starting SF. With JRich and MP at SG we would be solid. Calbert is an OK bench #3 SG-SF. Very mature also.

SF: Ah, herein lies the rub. Dun just didn't develop. Mully gambled and lost. Dun is at best a bench SF. Even then, he has some problems. We desperately need a game-changing SF.

PF: I think we are on solid ground here. Troy is a consistent double-double player. Ike and Zarko provide a good bench for the PF spot.

C: Our other trouble spot. I believe strongly that Andris is our future. I think Adonyl has so many problems, he isn't even a solid bench C. I think our only solution is to try to trade Adonyl and Taft and find a reliable bench C. We can always use Ike or Zarko in an emergency as a #3 bench C.

Trades/Drafts:

I think we need to trade Adonyl and Taft for a solid bench C. And Mully seriously needs to hire a quality big-man coach to develop Andris, if we don't already have one.

I would use our upcoming lottery pick (Just my prediction) and all of our outstanding drafts to move up and grab an explosive SF. Draft or trade, it doesn't really matter, but Mully really needs to get it right. I think a SF threat on both ends of the court is a key to our future.

Coaching: Certain areas just have to improve. FT, for instance. It is just unacceptable that high school teams shoot better FT than our professional basketball team. That's a coaching problem. Why not bring in Rick Barry to help?

The starting five and rotations also have to improve. Sometimes they just don't make sense. Like sitting Monta for almost the whole third quarter last night against the Spurs when he was the only one hot. Then throwing in the towel and sitting JRich almost the whole fourth quarter when we were only down 12 at points. And why does Monty keep starting Adonyl over Andris when Adonyl makes so many mistakes?

Personally, I'd also appreciate not seeing our assistant coaches grinning and laughing so much when we are losing. And please quit patting players on the butt when Monty has to take them out for making mistakes. They are getting paid millions to play this game, so raise the level of expectations. I don't remember seeing Phil or Riles or Pop or Flip or LB grinning when their teams are down.

We have a chance to keep getting better, and we're on the edge of playoff contention, but some things just have to change. I really think it is time for Mully, Monty, and the coaching  staff to step up to the plate.

I'm Pissed
I had such high expectations for this year.  I was even able to stay positive through January, but I don't get that tingly feeling anymore when I get the scores on my phone.
Its really starting to look like the last decade plus.
Plus, I lost $50 on a bet that the W's would have a better record than the lakers at the allstar break.
So depressed,

Great Analysis
I think the Dubs should send Foyle and Dunleavy to their NBDL squad Fortworth Flyer. Don't get me wrong, I think Foyle's a great guy, but he honestly hasn't improved his game since his rookie season 8 years ago. Dunleavy's just a bad player.

super read!
Enjoyed it immensely!  Dunleavy, what's with all the bricks?  I can't understand it.  If he can't help you shooting the rest of his game better be good but it hasn't.

I don't understand how come the Ws never hired Clifford Ray to help them develop their big men?! Rick Barry swears by him too!  Ray, with his solid defense and rebounding helped the Ws win a world championship along with block-shot extraordinare George Johnson back in 1975.

I can't fathom why Rick was never given a chance to coach. Incomprehensible! I understand he had a mercurial reputation in the NBA but he sure could back it up with his talent and brilliance on the court. Was a total disgrace how guys like Twardzik, Carlesimo, Brian Winters, Dave Cowens, St Jean, Bob Lanier etc were given the keys and not even give the greatest Warrior ever a chance.

NBA players today are not old school and would never shoot underhand free-throws like Rick because of the Nike generation.  I think Wilt Chamberlain shot underhand for a stretch but Shaq Fu would never consider it though he's one of the worst free-throwers ever because of his rep.

Coaching
We have lost several games this year due to coaching mistakes.  Too much talent to be bottom feeders again.  No excuses at this level.  We need someone who was either a NBA player or a proven NBA coach, to insist that  this team play solid defense.   We need someone who can relaize a mis-match when one is present.  He has no understanding of time out strategy.  No beliief in the young talent, as of yet.  He is learning how to be a head coach at this season's expense.  Monday's game proved what a waste of time the Warriors have become.  That was a must win game. We just give it away.  I will not witness another game with Montgomery as head coach ever.   If we had an itelligent head coach,  i.e.  Rick Carlisle we would be in the middle of the playoff hunt and maybe in the hunt for home court advantage in the first round.  The Warriors are done for this season,  let us not allow next season to be ruined as well.  Allow Montgomery to go back to college, he has done nothing for the professional players to respect him or listen to him.  Why play with so much effort all game long to lose a game because your coach is not familiar with his enviorment.  Jerry Sloan has more NBA coaching expirience in his pinky fingernail than Montgomery has in his entire soul.    Please Chris Mullin, give us a new direction and hope for next season now.  Monty must go!
