I like the W's choices. Apparently Mully finally realized the W's were never going to improve with Adonyl at C. Hopefully, Mully decided to cut his losses and move on.
I am happy we drafted two true C for a change, instead of trying to play with a 6-9 or 6-10 F-C. Almost all of the truly great teams have/had a true C. (Before you rush to your keyboard to remind me about Detroit, let me say ahead of time that I don't consider the Pistons a great team.)
Now we have Andris (Solid, but a few years away and in need of a backup for foul trouble) and two potentially excellent C's to make all three compete for minutes. (I have a feeling Mully doesn't see Taft in the W's future due to injuries.)
Now, so I can really stir up the board a little more.....It's time to trade BD. Now is the time! He still has some potential value and Mully might find some GM willing to gamble and take on his huge contract. (Call Isiah! You never know....Try Boston also.) Trade him for a future draft choice or something. Just get out from under his contract. Then we would have the $$$ to go out and get Shawn Marion.
Then....Package Troy and Mike D and try to get Jermaine O'Neal, if he's available. Indiana might go for it, and I think we'd just about break even or maybe even save a little $$$....
Finally.....Spend a little money, Chris.....Cut your losses....Let Adonyl go....Pay him off and move on.... Pick up Peja and maybe even Speedy.....Then look at what we'd have (Think about some of the combinations Monty could put together, including Monta-JRich-Shawn-Ike-Jermaine for quickness):
PG: Fish - Monta - Speedy
SG: JRich - Monta - MP
SF: Shawn Marion - Peja - MP
PF: Jermaine O'Neal - Ike - Zarko
C: Andris - Patrick - Kosta
Three experienced playoff starters and JRich, who I still consider the equal of DWade.....even......even considering DWade's awesome performance, which reminded me of MJ in his prime! I still think if you put JRich in the NBA Finals with a solid team, he would also be unstoppable.
Mully, do it for JRich! The guy plays his best night in and night out. He deserves a shot. Hey, do it for us, some of the most loyal fans in the NBA!
These are just a few ideas. There are many other ways to do it, but I think we all agree that we are not a playoff-level team if we stay with what we have right now. Just watching Miami and Dallas battle should have convinced anybody of what it takes to win in the NBA.
This is your time, Mully. Step up to the line! You always did it on the court. Now do it the same way in the front office! Focus....Concentrate.....Relax....Smooth....Follow Through....Swish!
