Rumor: Warriors Interested in Al Harrington

ESPN.com's Chris Sheridan noted that a sign-and-trade between the Hawks and Warriors for Al Harrington is something to lookout for in his Updated top 25 free agents of 2006. Al dropped 18.6ppg and 6.9rpg last season.

Al "Lipton" Harrington

99% of rumors never happen, but 99% of them are fun to talk about!

Do you think Al Harrington could be the missing piece to bring the Warriors to the promised land (the #8 seed, it IS the Warriors!)?

Harrington Is Good
I think if we didn't give up anyone for him, we would definitely make the playoffs. Hopefully Peja doesn't want to go back to Indy so that the Pacers would be interested in Dun (LOL I Don't know why that is so funny). Maybe something like Pietrus and Dun would be enough but I don't know the salaries.

Nice Upgrade
Harrington would be a great addition to the roster and the HAWKS view him as expendable with their glut of wing players.  Any deal with them would likely have to include T Murph as their rebounding is horrible.  Al would add a real threat from the 3 position and some toughness to a position where we have none.  He is a free agent so it would have to be a sign and trade deal.  At this point the Hawks are forced to take the best offer.  I can't imagine Harrington would be interested in resigning in ATL.

What would it take to get him?  Murphy I think is obvious + picks? Fisher?

Let's assume Murphy and draft picks, here is the W's lineup.

Baron/Fish
J-Rich/Monta
Harrington/MP
Ike/Taft
Crap Center Rotation

Looks better than last years outlook.  If Murph goes a lot of the success or failure for this team will come down to Ike's ability to improve on the defensive end of the floor.

A nice upgrade
He would be a big upgrade to Dunleavy in athleticism and defense for sure, and maybe offense.  I still have a feeling that Dun is going to improve a bit once the coaching situation is fixed.  I guess it would depend on what we had to give up, and what other options are out there.

better than maggette
Harrington gives us a better balance on offense than Maggette, who is an excellent scorer but with limited range (something we need improvement on) and mediocre free throw shooting (ditto).
Harrington defends better than Maggette for sure. Let 's pursue this one and ditch the reunite-the-Dunleavys deal.
