Arenas Down + The Final Cut

(image from BBC)

Former Warrior great (it was a short, fun 2 years!) Gilbert Arenas is now a former member of the 2007 USA FIBA World Championship team because of a groin injury. It's sad to see Arenas go down like that. He earned his roster spot.

This leaves only one (Washington) Warrior left- good old Antawn "shotput" Jamison. I'm pulling for him to make the squad.

Only one of the remaining 13 players is going to get cut: Melo, Shane Battier, Chris Bosh, Bruce Bowen, Elton Brand, Kirk Hinrich, Dwight Howard, LeBron, Jamison, Joe Johnson, Brad Miller, Chris Paul, and DWade. Which one of these guys do you think will be the final cut?

Bowen
He'll be the last cut. He's barely had any minutes.

Hinrich
...I don't really think they need him. Bowen is the best defender, they'll keep him.

Hinrich!?!
No way, bowen goes. He cant defend anything. Too old and unathletic. Bowen is only a good defender because of the system he plays in SA and with Duncan behind him. All he basically has to do is channel his man into Timmy. And theres no Timmy on this USA team, besides Bowen cant guard his man full court for extended periods of time anyways. Too old and unathletic, sorry to sound like a broken tape recorder.

Hinrich is a way more valuable asset that bowen. Consistent 3 point shooting, hes capable of pressure defending full court, and valuable point guard play. Not to mention his FT shooting is better too.

Interesting Timing
I'm not saying Gilbert's faking it, but don't you think the timing is interesting?  He got injured just before the final cut, and it just so happens he's been getting some of the least minutes from Coach K.  I think Bowen is the only player to play less.  Saving some face maybe?

And Bowen is gone.  He brings too little to the table.  Battier will fill the defense/hustle role.  Hinrich has been playing well and getting a lot of PT.  And they need another true PG.
