Steve Nash on Stephon Marbury: "It's gotta be the shoes!"

Okay fine- Steve Nash didn't say that, but he did recently say (from Newsday):

I know if I played one-on-one with Steph, he'd beat me probably every single time.
Hey, it's probably true.

Special shout out to Starbury for the $15 kicks. It's a classy, much-needed move. Make sure to pick up a pair... or 12 pairs instead of the latest Nike Air Jordans!

Interesting discussion topic: Who's had a better NBA career- Baron Davis aka "Mr. The league leader in assists if Adonal Foyle could make wide open layups and Mike Dunleavy could hit wide open jumpers" or Stephon Marbury aka "Mr. The only other person to average 20 points and 8 dimes in their career is Oscar Robertson"?

The lesser of two...
Winning 34 games is 11 more than the 23 games the Knicks won.  34 wins would put GSW in striking distance of a playoff slot in the NBA East.

I'd say both guys have had problematic careers.  Of the two, Davis has had the more stable career, was on the better team in 05-06, was a bigger contributor and is the lesser problem player.

Kudos to Stephon for the 15$ shoes.  Starbury will split the profits (if any) and not take his money up front.

Oh, Davis' problems and stats are not Mike or Adonal's doing.

Sucks we can't get Starburys Here
There are none of those stores in the Bay Area that sell Starburys. We have to go all the way down to SoCal. Anybody wanna drive down there and pick up some shoes for me?

Online?
That's too bad. Did you by any chance come across any online spots to pick up some Starbury's?

Back on topic
After the warriors im a big suns fan (yes i know division rival and whatnot)  Marbury on the Suns was a killer group.  He, Shawn, and Amare gave the Spurs a difficult opening series back in 2001?(not sure about the year but it did happen)  Plus that cross over move on Yao was so sweet it gave people diabetes, apologies to all the Yao fans, i love his game.  Marbury is kind of like a less talented iverson, tons of ability and scoring, but he can never find the right supporting cast to take full advantage of it, if said cast exists.  Baron also made the playoffs, but lost to a pre-Shaq Heat team.  Success wise, id rate them at about the same, cause not making the playoffs, is not making the playoffs.  Talent wise, i think marbury is a better scorer than Baron, but Baron is a better athlete and passer.  The thing that sets them apart is consistency, Barons injuries and weight problems limit the number of games he can play.  Marbury has issues with coaches but he rarely misses large chunks of games because of it.  So the deciding factor of consistency goes to Marbury.  I think he gets the better career because he has been present for more of it.  I am however pulling for Baron to make a huge turnaround, and play all 82 games, missing a few would be fine if we were say, resitng him for the playoffs....wistful thinking
Well theres always next year x12

hmm...
how do they get labor cheap enough to make $15 dollar shoes?

by llamalimbo1 on Aug 27, 2006 8:49 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Shoes...
only cost about $2 to make, it's the social value we pay for (counting out the super-fancy computer shoes and stuff like that). It's the retailers who are making the big profit, it's not like these shoes are any different, it's just the reatilers aren't making a huge profit.
