GSoM EXCLUSIVE Rumor: Dunleavy + Pietrus for Gerald Wallace + Ely / Bonzi Signs w/ Bobcats

One of our peoples who is closely connected to the NBA scene dropped us this anonymous tip. The Warriors and Bobcats are working on a deal that would send Mike Dunleavy and Mickael Pietrus to Charlotte in exchange for Gerald Wallace and Melvin Ely. The Bobcats would then also ink Bonzi Wells to a deal. One problem holding up the transaction is that the Phoenix Suns are making a late push for Melvin Ely.

If the Warriors can pull something like this off, do you think it's a good deal?

As always:
99% of rumors never happen, but 99% of them are fun to talk about!

Addition by Subtraction
Not only would this deal benefit the Warriors this year by giving more touches to JRich and BD, but would give them the financial flexibility that every team needs when trying to upgrade their talent.  Please let it happen!

a Morrison/Dunleavy SG/SF combo?
you can't get anymore unathletic than that.  I can't see Charlotte doing it.  Morrison/Wallace compliment eachother pretty well.

agreed
thought if all it takes is pietrus to get rid of dun, DO IT. This coming comment is by no means a knock on Jordan as player (honestly, who is better than Jordan), but his track record in Player Personnel issues hasn't been so hot... so I wouldn't rule this rumor to be completely irrelevant.

I don't like it
I honestly like Dunleavy, his being a Point Forward would be an element neccessary for the offense. We would be removing his bad touches and utilizing his passing ability and offensive coordinating abilities . We should dump Pietrus, I totally agree, but I don't think dumping Dunleavy at the moment would help too much.

it's the contract
regardless of differing appraisals of Dunleavy's on court contribution as a potential point powerforward, unloading his contract for a solid player is an opportunity we should exploit. Timmy Hardaway didn't need a point forward and neither does Baron IF he's on board with the program. Wallace is more than Dunleavy's equal and paired with JRich & Davis would give us a formidable trio backed up/supplemented by Ellis & Wagner.

Wallace is good
Wallace did some damage last year: 4th in FG% at 54% with 15pts and 8rbs per game.  That means, per game he averaged 1 point each shot.  Very significant statistic for a 215 lbs., 6'7" guy -- usually centers get this high percentage.  Wallace did this damage playing "small ball".  Injuries to the PF and C. At times Bobcats played 3-4 guards.

I think he's worth Dunleavy and Pietrus. Pietrus stunk up the FIBA this summer.  He's toast. Mike's a great guy but I think Wallace is an upgrade and proven front court in Nellie's system.

wallace!!!
Gerald is sick nasty athletic, he baron and Jrich are just what we need on the starting line.  Hes a good defender, he can block some shots, and isnt a three happy foward.  As said earlier he shoots a very nice percentage for anyone, and has the potential to get even better.  Im praying the suns back out and let this one go down.
Well theres always next year x12

Interesting trade
I had been excited/anxious to see if Dunlevay was finally gonna become something under Nelson, especially if he plays PF a bunch this season, which he has offensively excelled at in the past. And without that possibility, the starting 5 is not going to be as equipped to run-and-gun, as Wallace isn't big enough to play any 4 and they don't have anybody else that could keep up the pace. I'd rather see Pietrus get dumped and those Dermarr Johnson rumors to come true, and have him start at 3 with MDJ at 4.

That said, Wallace would be nice in a W uni...
