Here?s the fourth essay in the Golden State of Mind essay contest, "America's Next Biggest Golden State Warrior Fan." In total, we received 9 entries and to give every one of our entrants their props and due time in the spotlight, we're going to post their essays in full in their own separate posts. We want to extend a special thank you to all of our entrants. Reading your essays was a blast and we enjoyed each and every one of them.
Just to let you know, we each ranked all the essays 1-9 and then tallied the point total. The point totals were so close, and not many points separated the runner ups from the winners. You'll have to hold your breath to find out the winner. We're not going to post them all at once. We want each essay to get its fair share of air time. So, we're going to start with the runner ups individually and then run through the top 3 in separate posts. Keep in mind, the runner ups are not ranked, they will be posted in alphabetical order according to their username.
Our next runner up, it's migya time.
I love the Golden State Warriors! My Warriors have given me much over the 18 plus years I have cheered for them. From the dribbling (pun intended) days of Alton Lister to the choking (more sarcasm) days of Latrell Sprewell to the ball handling (even more) days of Adonal Foyle all the way to the high flying, electrifying (very much more) performances of Mike Dunleavy Junior, this franchise has really wowed me in DISBELIEF.
Run TMC made me want to run and gun on the playground basketball courts and I did almost every day. Hardaway running around everyone, talking shhh, er, bad. Mullin raining near skin head bombs over many a player?s head and Richmond slashing and ramming through guys was the style I liked to see.
A loyal () and time (out) managing ---- called Chris Webber came on the scene soon after and the team just made many a playoff appearance with him if I remember right, er, wrongly. Through the next few years (OVER A DECADE! ), there were real highlights, such as winning streaks (think there was 3 there somewhere ) and there was also the drafting of great talent (Cliff Rozier, Andrew DeClercq, Todd Fuller, Adonal Foyle, Mike Dunleavy etc... ), as well as the trades that were absolute steals (Hardaway and Gatling for Willis and some whor, ah, Bimbo, Webber for Gugliotta for Marshall for Fortson for , chokerman for always on target Starks for Hughes for nothing, Jamison for stoned alien, er, Van Exel , etc...).
BUT??? now there is something a little different brewing! Different in the form of entertainment (more my team looking the winner) and more likely to make the city of Oakland and the rest of the loyal Warriors fans around the world jump or collapse to the floor with DISBELIEF (different reason though). Maybe with this group of young, talented men, the Warriors can not only make the playoffs () but win it all!
Whether it?s Baron Davis making the pass, JRich dunking and making all kinds of shots, Diogu making the shots down low or Ellis moving so smoothly, making it all look easy,
THESE WARRIORS ARE FINALLY GOING TO WIN!!!!
GSoM Comments
- Good energy and enthusiasm. Nice sarcasm.
- Sarcasm at its finest!
- Can one be a Warriors fan and not reference the organization without extreme sarcasm? I say its impossible. Migya will second that notion.
Migya used every possible emoticon in the book to give his points emphasis. All of that really came across in his piece. Here to present you your prize is bigtime a GSoM fan. Jessica, tell migya what he's won.

Disbelief? Sarcasm? There are so many words to describe the struggle of the Warriors over the last decade. Any other words to describe what it is to be a Warrior fan?
