Bobcats want to trade Ely

Well the fact that Ely is available is not news, but there is an interesting article today on RealGM which suggests that Charlotte would only want an expiring contract and a pick or two for him.
Would Zarco and the Philly #1 work? Maybe Zarco the Philly pick and our 2nd rounder? I think that would be well worth it for a guy like Melvin. The W's had major interst in him this last offseason, it was reported that they even offered him a contract but he instead chose to stay with the Bobcats.
C'mon Mully, let's gitterdone.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

I like Melvin....
He seems to be a good glue guy, we could use that.  Also, the way he's handled his charlotte situation shows that he's a class act, not someone who in anyway will poison team chemistry....that's always a hold-your-breath/cross-your-fingers factor in trades...

you think?
long, athletic shot blocker, can play some interior D, nice little post game on offense...kinda like your boy Foyle but with basketball skills :)
I actually think he would fit in nicely and add what this team is lacking.

exactly
what i was gonna say.  the 6ers were smart to tank this year, they got two other draft picks they get to keep theres now, a great draft this year, they freed up cap room, they drafted the guy we should have drafted last year (carney) they got iquadala.   they sure played their cards right i think they could turn around and be a nice team in the near future depends on how they draft and if they get some luck.

the pick is not "gone"
it just turns into cash i think...something the Bobcats are not afraid of i would think.

Warriors had their chance and passed up
In the summer, Warriors were going to sign him.
Ely To The Warriors?: Reports from San Francisco suggest the Warriors are closing in on a deal with the Charlotte Bobcats to obtain Melvin Ely in a sign and trade deal. The Warriors open training camp on Monday, and would like to have the deal done before camp opens. The deal could be announced as early as today, but may not clear the NBA league offices until next week.

that's why
i like the W's chances of putting together a trade offer..it sounds like they already had one done in principal that Charlotte liked.

I went to college with him...
We had English 1 together.  I'm glad to see him being successful!  I always thought highly of him since he was a diligent worker in class and made sure to get his work done instead of riding through on a scholarship.

What do we need with Ely?
We already have an NBA 1st team Center with Folyed!
