OPEN THREAD: Game #43 - Warriors vs Nets

Warriors (W-L): 19-23

Nets (W-L): 20-21

Time: 7:30PM PST tip off

Here we go again.

Since the new trade, we haven't quite gotten a win under our belt, but we have been seeing some very exciting things from our new additions to the team. Al and Stephen have both put out better games than Dunleavy or Murphy did all season with us.

Tonight we're going face to face with the Nets in attempt to get a much needed win. As it stands right now, Baron is a game-time decision from his "cramp" against the Lakers on Monday. But Baron or not, we need to come out firing.

Let the Vinsanity begin.

Vegas Odds: Warriors by 4 1/2.

GSoM Prediction: There's pent up frustration in the Arena tonight. Barnes will drop over 20 in an attempt to earn back Nellie's love. Warriors by 7.

Make sure to drop your vote for who you think will win in the Comments. If you're watching or listening near a computer, post any comments you have during the game right here.

LET'S DO THIS WARRIORS!!!

UPDATE: Live Box Score from Yahoo!

UPDATE 2:

WARRIORS WIN!! 110-109
On a buzzer beating jumper by Money Monta Ellis- You know how we do it!

Stay tuned! Hash got a PHAT recap coming!

Coma's Predictions.
Coma's Predictions: 1/24 vs New Jersey Nets
  • Warriors by 10-15 tonight. They're going to come out hungrier than ever.
  • With Krystc(sp?) and Jefferson out, Biedrins is poised to have a great game. His line tonight: 22 points, 14 rebounds, 3 blocks.
  • I believe that Matt Barnes will play with much more of a team mentality. I'm smellin at least 5 dimes for this kid tonight. Couple it with 10 points and 5+ rebounds.
  • Mr. Al Harrington with 15 and 10.
Let's see how I do tonight. I figure I'll do this every night to showcase just how wrong I can be.

If you take a look out of your windows, you can now see Dallas, TX. Quite the site, no?

a win
i just want a win. I'm not going to jinx it and say we are going to blow them out. I think that whenever you play Jason Kidd and Vince Carter, you have to bring your A game cause you never know when could go off. I think the Warriors will come out with a force, and will get a W tonight.

Warriors Win
With or without Baron, they will be hungry for this game.

by gswrico on Jan 24, 2007 4:51 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Warriors Win
by atleast 5.
Biedrins is going to have a great game, maybe 15pts and 15boards.

Zorgons Awesome Predictions of Awesomeness:
If Biedrins Fouls out, say bye-bye to the win. (Check out my Diary.)

Kidd Gets a triple double.

Adonal gets very sparse time against Mikki Moore.

Big Al pumps up his rebound total against this weak interior, so people can go back to this game and say, "see, look!" in arguments.

Ellis withers somewhat today. Don't ask why.

Also:

I had these items for breakfast this morning:

  • Eggs
  • Bacon
  • Toast
  • Hot grits

Oh, and
Dubs win if Biedrins can stay in.

by Zorgon on Jan 24, 2007 4:53 PM PST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

if we get nailed in rebounding
if they beat us by more than ten in the rebounds catagory, we wont be in very good shape, if we can control the boards, we can win

and the defense needs to be big

by badnamedwarriorfan on Jan 24, 2007 6:09 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

REBOUND!
The Nets are very underrated and are a up and down team.  They don't have a strong frontline with no Jefferson or Krstic, so the Warriors should have no excuse that they can't rebound the basketball.

The Warriors lost the past 2 games, even though they played better primarily because they played good teams.  They lost to Cleveland at home minus BD and lost to the Lakers at their court.

If the new Warriors and the juice they brought to the current Warriors played like the past couple games tonight, we should win.  The only thing is BD is a game time decision.  Otherwise, there snould be no excuse against the Nets.

Nets go down tonite
it's in the bag! No Jefferson or Krystic.

no excuses
BD or no, this is as much a "must win" as a January game can be for our playoff hopes, which are precarious already

BD
bd is playing. thank god

carter en fuego
he is hitting tonight, well so far, hopefully someone can step up and shut him down

by badnamedwarriorfan on Jan 24, 2007 8:02 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

not a good quarter
well, that could have gone better, they need to go on a solid 6-0 or 8-0 run to start the next quarter

if it isnt single digits by half time, there could be a problem

by badnamedwarriorfan on Jan 24, 2007 8:09 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

36-20
we'd better start the 2nd quarter with all guns blazing

by Caught Backcourt on Jan 24, 2007 8:10 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

12-4 run
nice job, getting back down to 8

nice layup with the left by baron

YAY
THEY'RE COMING BACK INTO THE GAME. and i would have to say barnes is having a great game so far. good for him. He's been called out, and so far hes responded.

harrington didnt travel?
wow i am pretty shocked, looked like he definatley traveled, but i have no problem with the call, if only he hit the free throws, nice tip in on the next trip though, damn kidd and his threes

rebounding
we have one more rebounding but the big stat thus far

Baron ?
hey im watchin this off yahoo live scores so i dont know wats happening during the game
Baron seems to be doin nothing ??
i think he should be more agressive and drive to the hoop and finish strong/dish/ or go to the charity stripe

or is he still hurt from the supposed cramps?

by Barnz87 on Jan 24, 2007 8:36 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

baron's controlling the warriors
and helped lead them back in the game.
It doesnt take stats to have a good game.
Pietrus coming to slow down carter helped alot to.

someone prison shanked jason kidd! that's a way to slow him down!

probability
everytime the g-d "win probability" graphic comes up, I can't help but wonder how long will it take them to figure out that this is bar far the stupidest (is that a word?) idea in NBA production history ...

by hardcore on Jan 24, 2007 8:41 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

the lead
when it was 40-24 did you think the warriors would get to 49 first

by Athletix Man on Jan 24, 2007 8:41 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

we got the lead
wow, thats some pretty good play

and then taking the charge

fantastic play from harrington again!

WE CAN DO THIS !

by Barnz87 on Jan 24, 2007 8:46 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

key to victory is
jrich back doing commentary, they made the run when he was there, and then fell back again when he left.

by Athletix Man on Jan 24, 2007 8:59 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

less sjax please
today, he's killing their ball movement. the pacer 3 should never be all on the court at the same time.

and why do the w's insist on making scrubs look good? if marcus williams plays 33 min, he's on pace to score 30, dish out 15 & pick up 6 boards.

Seeing as last year ended on Luther head's 3 pointer, I hope this year begins with Ellis's buzzer beater.

As previously mentioned, the wolves lost so that makes this even sweeter.

The best part of the win ...
is Baron hugging Monta at the end. you can tell Baron plays the big brother role and was actually very happy for Monta. Love the Comradery~!

WHAT A WIN!!
Man...Im glad I said Monta would be huge in the game, he made me look smart, lol.

I agree...this is a huge win, and should for sure start a minor win streak atleast.

Fellas...look at the next 7 games...HUGE.

Bobcats come to town...we should run all over this team.

Then we hit the road for a longgggggg but very winnable trip.

@Cleveland
@Atlanta
@Philly
@Charlotte
@Indy
@Minnesotta

The Cavs are going to be tough, the Indy game is going to be fun, and the Minnesotta game is going to be huge being they are in the playoff hunt as well. The rest should be W's.

What do ya think?

FSN showed a replay
of harrington's 3 from the corner as they went to commercial break, with all the w's on the bench jumping around and cheering...except for sjax

this came right after nellie subbed him for barnes...hopefully hes not too bitter

Concerned
About Stephen Jackson and his "non-participation" in congratulating Monta (a quick pat on the head). I know I'm reacting to all the baggage he brings but he just doesn't look like a team player. I'm afraid "it's all about SJax". I hope he proves me wrong but all the telltale signs of a clubhouse cancer are appearing...
