A couple of our boys got dinged up, so I'll use this diary to collect any reports that come up. If you find any, post it in comments and I'll add it so all can see.
From Geoff Leopper of the SJ Mercury News:
Forwards Matt Barnes (left knee), Mickael Pietrus (strained back) and Lasme (sprained left ankle) were all walking well as the team got onto its charter jet back to the mainland Friday.=================================

10/15 Injury Updates from SF Gate
A Warriors spokesman said guard Monta Ellis (sprained neck) has received medical clearance to play and that it is now up to Ellis to decide on his return date. Ellis, who experienced tingling in his arms after a scary collision with Wright in Hawaii, declined to answer questions. ... Andris Biedrins (sprained toe), Mickael Pietrus (strained back) and Stephane Lasme (sprained ankle) also did not play Sunday. Lasme is expected to miss at least a week. This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Wright and Perovic
Looks like the Warriors might start the season going 11 deep. Although they'll probably get the rotation down to 9 or 10 players for the bulk of the season.

Lasme
Then, Pietrus and Barnes might not be 100%...
So if we end up with some injuries, Wright might stick for a while just as a body.

Wright to D-league...
I think way too much stigma is attached to a D-league assignment, probably because it's such a new phenomenon in hoops. (And maybe secondarily because of the bad connotations of "D": Demerit, Demotion, grade D, etc. They really need to hire a marketing-type to rename the thing).
I wish I had a nickel for every MLB superstar who's been sent down to AAA at some point in his career to refine some aspect of his game, rather than just collect dust on a professional bench.
Wright will be fine -- probably much better than fine. It's not that big of a deal.

D-League
People think it is kind of a joke but every year we are seeing more and more examples of guys who just needed that extra year or two to refine their game and get NBA ready (Kaz for example). I think we will see the stigma vanish with a few more success stories and the continued expansion of the league.

the only problem
- Under the rookie scale, we get the kid for 4 years guaranteed at less than the MLE.
- If you draft a kid that can produce immediately at average levels, you are effectively "ahead" of the game, getting production for less than market price.
- If you draft a kid that needs development, you lose years where you're paying that cheap price, because you're effectively getting nothing
- the only way to come out ahead is if, sometime during that 4 years of control, the kid becomes productive at a far above-average level
- this is in part the reasoning why I advocated the Noah pick- he doesn't need D-league time, he can give us 4 years of average production for rookie prices; Wright might not. Now, the emergence of POB makes it easier to swallow that, but ultimately, if Wright needs time to develop, then our "reward" for drafting him is diminished

Well...
It might be good strategy to always draft on value a la moneyball, but we both agree that if you want to be in title contention you have to have one of those handfull of really special players. If you already have one of those guys I agree completely on your draft strategy, but seeing as we don't, I don't mind drafting a project now and then (as long as he has a chance of being one of those guys). Whether or not Brandan could be one of those players is another discussion but it would seem that by going with him over Noah that Mulson thinks he might be.
Back to the D-league; I think that as long as GM's continue to draft on potential (which they will as long as the age limit is not raised again) it would be nice to have a good place to let them get real game experience in the same system they will eventually play in under the appropriate supervision. Plus it would be fun as a fan to be able to follow the production of your teams prospects instead of watching them sit on the bench with a sad look on their face.

Injury Update Post?
Can we possibly add to the title of this post "injury update"?
I've been looking and haven't been able to find anything substantial on Lasme or Peiturs. Would like to hear if anyone out there has read anything about the seriousness of their injuries.
Sounds like Pietrus should be back right away, but Lasme might be sitting awhile. Obviously this affects speculation on who will be joining the team at month's end while Jax is out.

2 Points...
I think its funny as hell that we traded someone (JRich) for a D league player. No mater the situation, Wright should be thinking to himself, " WTF, I went to UNC, was a baller down there, had national recognition and was said to be a top 3 lottery pick and now I'm getting sent down to the D League for some dude who no one up until the hoops frenzied Dubs fans even knew about?!"
Second point:
BD having knee pains? WHAT A SHOCKER! If BD could barely run yet walk after the Jazz series, why would you think his knee would recover in 3 months with all the exercise and training? Come on Monta and THUD, I hope you two can help us out when the inevitable "Oh Sh*t" happens to our ballerific BD. I'm still in shock BD never had surgery...
