Speedy Claxton Grew 1 Ft. in the Offseason

This is totally random and off topic, but I was looking at some player profiles and saw Speedy Claxton's. The former Warrior is now listed as 6 feet 11 on the NBA website http://www.nba.com/playerfile/speedy_claxton/index.html
LOL. He must have taken some type of growth hormone in the offseason. I wonder what kind because I want some too. But seriously, they should fix the typo.

Off-topic?
Dude, it's not even a "topic." Topics are meant to give people something to discuss. What do you want people to say, other than: "LOL, you noticed one of the 10 quintillion typos that get made everyday on the internet!! Aren't you clever???"

Sorry if I sound pissy: I'm a Cal fan. At least that "Cal #1???" diary had an actual topic; and if nothing else it would have served as useful cautionary example for people not to celebrate victories too early. This diary's less interesting than hearing what you had for breakfast today (pop tarts?), and not remotely funny to boot.

And now the Wizard of OZ is going to let this useless diary live because he's already deleted one today and doesn't want to seem like a villain. Frigging fabulous. I think I need a beer now... :-(

How's this for a topic:
Why this blog is hardly any fun anymore? I'll get the discussion rolling with my own hypothesis; too many diary-bullies. I understand that it's probably for the best to keep the inane diaries to a minimum, but some of the contributions on this site are made from people just looking to have fun, not crunch numbers and posit polished analysis.

by Jeremy Belvins on Oct 13, 2007 10:44 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Fun v. inane
Huge difference. It's pretty obvious which one this is.

But I actually applaud you for the diary hijack. I'm always game to read a good "how's OZ doing?" meta-diary... ;-)

Oh, it's all good
I'm just a little peeved because I thought it was a funny, light-hearted diary topic. I was going to make a little quip, when I suddenly I see how harshly it was received. I understand the quality of the blog would suffer if there were too many of these types of diaries. But, there's gotta be room for a little silliness.

So. The analysis is better. The numbers are more accurate. The inane diaries have been cut down.

but it's less fun

so let's blame the diary bullies

it must be a really boring saturday nite out in the bay, so let's take another shot at the fascists

yeah

thats it

I swear the people that complain the most about the "moderating" are people whose diaries and comments i've never even edited or deleted before

From now on i'm imposing a "justiciability" requirement, just like the supreme court.

If you haven't actually had anything deleted or edited (additionally, minimum age requirement: 16, must be born in the Bay Area), don't complain, alright?

If you have never sent me an email whining about something i've done, don't complain, alright?

If you have never sent me an instant message on AIM asking how my day went, don't complain, alright?

If you have never purchased an alcoholic beverage for me,...why haven't you?

Gossip Girl
Anyone else watching this? It's the bombest show man.

They took the O.C., added a hotter cast, put it in New York, then added some Veronica Mars elements too. Plus Kristen Bell is the narrator.

Then they crammed about a season's worth of drama and intrigue into the first 3 episodes. I literally don't know what else they could do for the rest of the year.

Webpin attribution syndrome.

hrm, very interesting
so if i wanted to take that all the way, i should change my webpin to a picture of Heidi Klum sporting the GSoM/Coma badge

I might just experiment with that- Ms. Klum as my webpin and then start randomly deleting diaries and leaving nasty comments for anyone that doesn't read the CBA or  hasn't emailed Larry Coon to discuss the potential loopholes in trade restrictions

we'll see if my rating goes down at all

Heidi Klum may make you seem sexist
You should stick with the badge-only look or include a sympathetic figure like Mr. Rogers, Mother Theresa or Zarko Cabarkapa.

Larry Coon Shmoon. You should go Ron Artest on anybody who doesn't read the NBAPL CBA itself.

I really think there is a lot to the theory about webpins affecting how we initially react to people's opinions and how they are subsequently remembered.

For instance, I always got Sleepy and Skeptic Con Urquell confused until Sleepy changed his web pin. I lumped all of their posts together into one memory.

This warrants its own diary.

Uh
I can see how the names are similar -- begin with S, weird Germanic "U" -- but did you actually confuse our posts? In style and content we were about as similar as OZ and mydedgerbil55. No value judgment implied, of course. I actually miss that Skeptic dude and wish Atma hadn't banished him...

by Sleepy Freud on Oct 14, 2007 3:36 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

That just shows how some of us associate content
so strongly with the webpins. Yah, I thought Skeptic Con Sleepy Freud was one inconsistent poster. There a bunch of other J-rich and GSW/Dubz associated names that I confuse.

mydedgerbil555 was one of my all-time favorite posters. The punch-line was the 555. It gave one the impression that, when he signed up for his account, there were already 554 other people that had already taken mydedgerbil.

Anyways, the point I was making was that OZ should change his webpin because I think it has a negative psychological effect on some people. Here is alternate webpin proposal #1:

by bloodsweatndonuts on Oct 14, 2007 4:03 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Out-freaking-standing.
If OZ, doesn't want that, you should make it your own -- replacing the badge with something else. A donut, for example.

I actually rarely see your webpin as donuts. In grayscale, at a quick glance, it looks more like a rock formation or something. I love grayscale (it's cheap shortcut #1a for making your graphics work look "sophisticated") but not particularly on donuts.

Baumerworld is still my all-time favorite GSoM poster, but that new OZ webpin may have vaulted you to a close second.

Wait, did someone say "vaulted"?...

by Sleepy Freud on Oct 14, 2007 4:57 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think OZ should use it but, I'll use it as mine
if you adopt eddie925's as your own.

I favor Mydedgerbil555 over Baumer becasue MDG555 is sincere. While brilliantly crafted, Baumer's posts were still works of fiction and an obvious social experiment/cry for attention. MDG555, by his own admission, just makes very little sense.

If you check...
...you will see that whenever I post, it usually ends the topic, so I am making this grand contribution to Speedy's fifteen minutes of fame on GSOM. He will probably only have 15 minutes of playing time this year what with perennial injuries and Acie Law coming in.  His 6'll frame is probably a result of his stretching the time space continuum as he picks up speed.

that should do it if past posts are any indicator. Anybody have anything to add?

70 posts
Only one behind the most recent game thread. Which, given that fiasco of a game, is as it should be.

Meanwhile, my last diary, the "interesting" medical diagnosis of Monta's injury, got one comment -- by OZ, on a totally unrelated topic. I'm humbled.

by Sleepy Freud on Oct 15, 2007 3:25 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Well, it was nested above Injury Updates
Which puts it in the gray area of redundant diary. Although, I don't know if you'd consider 3rd hand medical expertise from a baseball blog a Warriors "Injury Update". Where do you draw the line?

That slippery slope was enough to prevent me from commenting lest I be accused of "aiding and abedding a possible redundant diary post containing medical diagnosis of questionable origins". That's a serious charge. You get hit with that and OZ takes away half your vowels. Thn Wht?!?!

by bloodsweatndonuts on Oct 15, 2007 6:19 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Thn y'r ttlly fckd
In fairness, it wasn't an injury "update" so much as an actual medical explanation of what actually happened to him that no one in the mainstream press has yet provided.

That said, there's not really a lot to say in response, other than "hm, wow."

Here were the two responses on SoSH, the first by another doctor, presumably:

The only [case like Monta's] that I saw on the res was a drunk in a car accident. He came in collared and boarded, had no Dtrs, no rectal tone and went directly to the top of our ship list. He was flown out and by the time he reached Albuquerque he was able to walk out of their ED. Unbelievable.
So when someone comes in looking paralyzed, a doctor has to check his 'rectal tone'?

Do you guys draw straws or is rock/paper/scissors?
