What the Warriors Are When they Are Bad
I hate this kind of game in the worst way but being realistic about the Ws, this is what the Ws are going to look like when they have an off game. We saw that when they are clicking its awesome; but what is it that we are seeing? Shots falling, jumpers falling, everything falling into place, up fakes working, clear paths to the hole.
Well when the jumpers don't fall, they slough off and let the Ws just jack it up, which leads to long rebounds and fast breaks the other way. That's why post up options are so valuable, short shots and FTs to offset the missed jumpers.
There was no Biedrins tonight but I think its not going to be any different with Biedrins in and the jumpers not falling.
Its okay, I'm willing to live with this if we get the highs too, its the price.

There was a little girl...
Right in the middle of her forehead;
And when she was good
She was very, very good,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

Hmm, sound like a team we know...?

well
From tracking the box score, it seems like Hudson and Harrington were making more of an effort to get to the line in the second half and MADE THEIR FREE THROWS.
Of course, no Ellis and no Biedrins robbed some of our ability to get easy buckets.
and then you have our inability to buy a jumper, which seems to be an all-or-nothing deal. I don't know why our ENTIRE team hits or NO one hits.
Baron himself was atrocious; 2 asts/4 TO's.
Jack was even worse 1 of 7. I'm assuming he was guarding Maggette, who went nuts from the line. Thats not unusual, either, since he's one of the league leaders in that respect. Shame our first unit didn't buy a clue from h im.

you're right
when your shot isn't falling, what you're supposed to do is step up your defense and try to get easy hoops or get to the line.
when you're down big, you want to chip away at the lead and eventually hit "milestones" (under 20, under 15, under 10, under 5).
when faced w/ these problems last year, the dubs answer was to chuck up quick 3's creating easy rebounding opportunities for the opposition.
chucking pull up jumpers early in the shot clock is something you do when your shot is falling. it's not something you do when you're struggling or trying to get hot.

It's discouraging to see...

i dont think they're worried
I know this may be blasphemy to some, but, b/c he wants to win so badly, I really think sometimes Baron falls into the trap of trying too hard to do it by himself. Kind of a "Kobe Bryant effect" which kind of dominoes to everyone on the team.

Don't be too concerned
The only thing I am still concerned about is Stephen Jackson and his turnovers. It's been happening all through training camp.

Its Not Being Down on the Ws
More than anything, what I'd like to see is consistency in how they play, whether its the starters or the 2nd or 3rd team. Effort, hustle, taking care of the ball.
