Europe division in NBA?

Just read this article by Kenny Smith at Yahoo:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ks-europe101507&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

No way would this ever work. Your looking at a big time difference a lot of travel and your losing out on revenue of games played in Europe, but aren't seen at 3:00am. However the league seems really interested in promoting the game over seas and may be tempted to make a stab at the market.
Does anyone see or even think this could become a reality and if so how.

This
is a pretty crappy idea that could never work. The time zone change is a huge difference and the whole "stay over there a month thing" is ridiculous. How would you decide what teams have to go over for a month and what teams stay? I think it's unfair to send half the league to Europe to play for a month and even if they sent every team over and they all played in Europe for a month it just doesn't make sense at all. Personally I wouldn't want to see the Dubs go to Europe and miss a month worth of their games. I can give you one simple answer for why this won't work, the playoffs. It's logistically impossible to do. Imagine the Dubs flying to Spain for 2 games, back home for 2 and then back to Spain for one, Oakland for one and then Spain for one, not gonna happen, ever. If they want teams in Europe then they should create an NBA Europe. If they really want to have an international championship the two league winners could play eachother at the end of the year, rotating sites, one year the whole playoff series in the USA and then in Europe the next.

The only way I see it working at all is
if they did things like baseball used to.  Where the euros would play in their own league all regular season, then come playoff time, the top 1 or 2 teams get a bid to the NBA playoffs.

Maybe there could be a play in game (ala NCAAs) betw the 2 worst NBA playoff teams and the 2 best euro squads.

Just throwin' $#i+ against the wall and seein' what sticks.

THIS IS OOOAKLAND!!!
