GAMER PRICE WARS: PS3 $399 - Xbox 360 $279

So PS3 made the much anticipated move of announcing price drops for November 2nd. They will reduce the price of current models, but most importantly, will be coming out with a 40GB model for only $399. The only downer is it will not play PS2 games.

Xbox 360 has responded, according to financial times by announcing an "Xbox 360 Arcade", a new version of the core that comes with 1 wireless controller and classic arcade games for $279! Their cheapest system used to be $350.

Yessss I am getting closer to being able to afford a new system! That means eBay prices will come down too wooo hoo!

For now, I have PS2 and my gamer tag on NBA 2K8 is gsdubz! Anyone else still play one of those? LOL

40GB PS3 model also doesn't have any memory card slots and includes only two USB ports instead of four.

You probably won't need 4.

They're mostly used for charging the controllers, bluetooth headset and anything else wired like Eyetoy. Its not a big deal losing 2 slots. Can probably plug in a usb hub for more slots if you need and it would work fine. You'll use them to charge controllers more than anything.

Must be hurtin' forcing a price drop... I still don't want one until the library of games increase... a lot of us are broke right now... we got kids to feed lol... also, I don't hear much about the on-line specs of PS3 games, everytime I meet someone down with videogaming on-line they all have xbox live accounts... PS3 online has been sleeping on me and I don't know many who play on-line

This week only at Toys R Us... buy any 2 Video games, get 1 free... I do it every year when I can- I'm gonna pick up some 360 games I've slept on but have also gone down in price...

F.E.A.R. (1st person shooter) Dead Rising (zombie 3rd person by Capcom) and 2k8 All Star Football (good or not, $hits free!)

I play PS3 online

I am really loving my PS3. The break down rate of 360's really scared me off. Literally 8/9 of my friends with 360's have had theirs break. I really think the quality of the PS3 is amazing. Kinda like how American cars break down a lot and how Honda's/Toyota's are super reliable.

Some good games coming out too. Haze, Uncharted, Unreal Tournament 3.

i bought xbox 360 way back when the "2nd batch" was released, it was supposed to be fixed, worst experience of my life, ended up returning it. went back and exchanged my old ps2 for a ps2 slim, have kept it since. im gonna wait for ps3 prolly, unless i get like a $100 deal on ebay for a 360.

Yes

I think its pretty clear that if you have a problem with the way he is moderating the best way to handle it is send him an email (it is in his sig). He has always responded well to my constructive criticism (yes I have sent him suggestions) and he always emails back explaining his point of view. I don't think a "hey lets all talk about the mod" diary is a good idea or a constructive way of handling it.

BTW Atma and the other guys are still deleting comments here if they find them inappropriate so don't assume that it is always OZ.

Seriously though most of us come here to talk about the Dubs, not each other, so if you have any issues with anybody (Atma,OZ,Coma) don't use the diaries to deal with it especially when they give you other avenues to discuss the problem. Nobody here is out to get you (though sometimes it sounds like you think they are) and I'm pretty sure most of us here enjoy what you bring to the community when you post about basketball or whatever other issues come up (you are obviously a socially aware dude, whether I agree with you or not).

Anyway having said all that, I really hope to see more quality posting and less personal drama because I know what you can add to the community when you don't get all caught up in this crap. In your words...

You know...

I really miss those bone headed diaries from some dude named 49ers-giants-warriors-lover (whatever) in which he'd have these crappy scenarios of Warrior rosters and have dude like kobe and Wade in our roster and everyone would comment all negative coz' it didn't make sense... and the funny part was how he'd write stuff all misspelled with the caps locked!

One time I think Atma called him out and he cussed him (Atma) out so bad (on a blog !) and told atma to die slow... and eat a fat one! I was like "Damn, even his rude remarks had typo's!" The dude wanted the Warriors to move to San Jose too! lol! Man, I wonder where that dude's at!

Don't forget to pick up that Bioshock Tony.PSD

One of the best games to come out on any platform in the last few years. Takes cinematic presentation and ambiance to whole new levels. That and Dead Rising are my favorite (non sports) 360 games by a wide margin.

Oh Man...

I got bioshock brotha'! But with my hectic work schedule and extra efforts on GSoM not 2 mention balancing my time w/ wifey, getting my 2k8 and Halo 3 on... it got lost in the shuffle! I will revisit it no doubt! Can't wait for Virtua Fighter 4 to drop next week- I'm a die hard on fighters... and did u hear... Street Fighter 4 is in development!

when it drops in Feb. I promise you...it'll be the most fun you've ever had with fighters... Nothing like getting 3 friends together on an afternoon and playing Smash.

I have on Smash Bros. is its delay... other than that I am sure it's totally worth it! I'm sure its gonna break records! I can dig it!

Virtua Figher 4 ??

I have Virtua Fighter 5 on PS3, its not all that great.... it came out the month PS3 came out though. Almost all of those 1st gen games were bunk except about 3.

My bad VF 5

LOL- man, if VF 5 wasn't dropping on 360 I'd snag a PS3 just for VF5 (for now, I kow other games are comin') everytime I go 2 Target I sneak away from my wife and play the VF5 demo... it's evolution yo'- every series gets better and better- maybe the graphics aren't 2 ur liking but the fight system is mad fluent. I had this one month where I tried 2 play the Street Fighter 2 (and even 3) series, Tekken tag, 4 and 5, soul caliber, DOA 2-4 and VF 1-4 in between my GSoM drawing duties and of all fighters, I truly enjoyed the button system on Virtua fighter... don't get me wrong at all- they're all great games, we all got different tastes... man I'm gonna play VF4 now son! Thanks!

360 is the best i have had mine for 10 months and no break in it so i dont know what your friends are doin but mine is fine and its the best out the suck s 3 is no comparison look at the commercials for games and see which system usually is showin up take notice ladies lol
