OT: World Series is over

Well, the Boston Red (smelly)Sox have swept the Colorado Rockies to win the World Series 4-0. I didn't watch the whole game, just the beginning and some of the middle. Yeah, i know this is a basketball blog, but you know its still important. Anyways just wanted to hear what others want to say about the game.

If there's one team
I hate more than the Yankees (at least they don't have A-Rod anymore), it's the Red Sox.

Then again, I stopped watching baseball after the A's had no chance of making it into the post-season.

Well
If you must know, I did jigs around my house and went to sleep smiling. Then again, I'm hardly an objective observer. I've made it pretty clear lately where my baseball and football loyalties lie.

Still, I can totally see how to the average fan the Sox/Yankees, with their East Coast hype and outrageously unfair payrolls, can be vomitose. In the Sox' defense, I think they're partly the way they are out of need to compete with Steinbrenner and the MFY, but yeah, they're stil part of the whole annoying East Coast sports mafia.

By the same token, you gotta give props to the Pats, who have managed to build their juggernaut of a team playing by the exact same rules as everyone else. I get the resentment over the "tuck" and stuff, but as a sports fan, you really have to admire what they've been able to do. (Sorry, not to dredge up Atma's and my little lover's spat from the football thread...)

Back on the Sox: I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that the lovable losers I grew up with are now such a powerhouse. Eight straight World Series wins? It just doesn't compute. Imagine, for example, the Warriors becoming as dominant as the Spurs. I mean, of course it's what we all wish for, but once you finally get there, there's this strange paradigm shift you have to undergo as a fan...

Anyway, let's get that championship first. Then I'll do my best to help you all through the weird psychological ramifications...

Haha
this explains your one week absence at GSoM. I almost sent out a search party, but now you've set my mind at ease. =P

As far as baseball goes I'm really nothing more that a casual Giants fan. I've tried to get into it but it just doesn't speak to me the way that Basketball does. I even tried visiting that Red Sox forum you mentioned before to see if the enthusiasm would rub off enough to get me excited for the World Series but no luck. Hey, at least the NBA season starts this week.

Congrats Baaahston
Still, its hard to root for Baaahston teams.  They make me gag, but hey, like Sleepy Coma says, those guys have been losers, not lovable, but losers for a long time, so my hats off to them. In fact the New England area is en fuego!  Pat's, Sox, Celtics and now BC?  WTF, spread the love Baaahston.  Sleep Coma, you need to check out barstoolsports.com  Its for chowda head, baked bean and creme pie eating, Bobby Orr/Larry Ledgend, tea sipping Baaahston fans like yourself.  Plus its got great articles on your better than average chiquitas!!!
