Golden State Warriors in NBA 2k8 Review

Hey guys I'm back to give you guys feedback on the new game, NBA 2k8! (P.S. thanks tony.psd for the game cover I definitely printed that out and put it on my case!)

"Controls & Functions"

Anyways the game play overall is very difficult at first for "first-time" NBA 2k players. There are many new functions that have been added into the game although for me, these were not hard to adapt to due to the fact that the buttons are in similar order except certain buttons have been changed.

For an example, the "B" button no longer has the function of a "lead pass." For some strange reason they have taken this function. out. Now the button has no function at all. This is probably due to the fact that most likely they have created a better, a much smarter A.I. system allowing the in-game player to realize certain situations such as fast breaks, allowing them to act accordingly.

"In-Game Gameplay"

Now to the good stuff! Of course the people who are as crazy about 2k just as much as how people are crazy about Madden, we all know that the 3-pointer (If you're actually a legit NBA 2ker) was easily perfected on the "Hall of Fame" difficulty level. In this new NBA 2k8, you may have the talent of shooting the ball perfectly, but it may not always go in.

The game although is very beautiful in as sense that the design is awesome. The crowd is very active, they seem to have much more personality. The players also now can interact with the crowd in the first row, there are much more player expressions, even ones that have them interacting with other players. You now have the referees as objects on the court meaning that they are alive, they can be in your way at times causing you to lose the ball or you can use him as a screen. Another improvement was the running along the sideline feature; when you get close to the sideline, on the verge of going out of bounds, the player will force their bodies to stay in-bounds doing everything they can to stay in-bounds. The fouls have changed as well. There are much more expression when fouling. Some players foul hard, and others, not so much. You may be grabbed mid-air going for a dunk, you may be slapped across the forearms by another player going for a steal. The blocking is also another challenge gamers must face. You may get swatter the first few times you try to go to the hole so watch out! They CPU-Players have a much higher A.I. I.Q. They react very quickly to what you are doing, they recognize plays after constantly running them; they understand when players go with their left or right hand; they create their own mismatches; they understand the game!

Another addition to the game is the "Hot Spot" feature. This allows you to see where players like to take the majority of their shots. Their sweet spot essentially. Some players love the inside while others would rather play on the perimeter.

"The 2008 Golden State Warriors"

Now for your 2008 Golden State Warriors, they have  not changed much except for roster. But let me tell you they are awesome in the game! Much of the ratings have gone up which is expected since many of the players such as Matt Barnes have proven as much more deadly weapons offensively.

There are many updates that you can download to update the game as far as rosters through Xbox Live. On the Warriors, players such as Mikael Pitrus (Obviously), Troy Hudson and Kosta Perovic have not been added to the roster, these updates should take care of them.

Good Luck to the GSW's WE BELIEVE 2.0!

Thanks Guys.

who got it for PS2 like i got it
i think its tight.  anyone seen how much better the game is for ps3 and 360?  im curious to see it on those systems.  overall its a tight game i still gotta play it more to figure out how much i like it.  it doesn't seem like there is all that much new except the ball handling is a lot different and there is a more variety of dunks.  i like those two aspects a lot.  the new crossover is sick.  in previous games only certain players could do the tight dunks like baron, j rich, vince, kobe, lebron, basically anyone who has been in a slam dunk competition or is just known for being a sick dunker.  now i believe anyone can do sick dunks and there are a lot of new ones.

Lovin' it...
I can't complain at all man, the 360 version is off the chain... u also gotta set the gameplay seeting to Hall of fame brotha. It's satisfying earning every dunk and shot... you could be right under the basket and still miss... thats how the homies roll, I hate playing it on Pro and Baron drains 15 3-pointers... its all love but takin control on a harder game setting is most satisfying, esp. when some heads are oon the same page w/ you.

I'm also diggin' the Defensive stick (right thumb stick) and how the dude will cover your a$$ hands up and follow you around the paint. They made it harder to drive down the lane uless its set on rookie... I'm a natural believer in playin' Defense, I had a block party with Andris and Wright last night- 9 blocks son!

Enjoy it... live 08 is suckin big time as usual... run shoot... rebound... shoot... thats it or all I was feelin'... eye candy was nice though.

also
the jump shot is different.  i notice that there are two kind of shots a jumper and a set shot.  stephen jackson and al harrington have nice realistic set shots that are cool, but like baron davis and other people who shoot the new jumper.  im not a fan of it it looks kinda funky.

good lord
I just finished my season opener vs Utah. I was actually down by as much as 21 but grinded it out through the 4th and forced OT. I should have won, but (realistically) Andris missed his 2 free throws to ice the game with 2.1 seconds left. I came out on top in OT, but the Top 3 Plays and Signature Highlights were all messed up. One of the top plays was a Charge, and the Signature Plays were just random highlights for everyone.

The thing that's messed up is that when I went back to the Calendar view, there was huge "L" in the box instead of a "W"! For whatever reason, the score said something like 121-106 Utah. The box score was right, but the only problem was the final score and the "L". My record is indicated as 1-0 in one spot, but it says I'm on a 1 game losing streak. That better not happen again...

I like the game just cuz it's 2K, but I honestly think the gameplay was slowed down a bit by the extra animations. They're cool and all, but sometimes it feels as if the fluidity of the game isn't as smooth as 2K7. And sometimes it feels like it takes too long for a player to go through the motions of getting off a jumper.

I haven't gotten it yet
and won't till Christmas, but Live for Wii should arrive in the mail tomorrow!

Anyway, I'd just like to congratulate Jeppalepala for writing the best piece he's ever written, a far cry from his one-liner comments of old. H'es gone pretty far since the "indian" incident.

Sorry to burst your bubble Zorgon...
NBA Live for Wii is a horrible basketball videogame.  There's no Dynasty mode, no create a player, no hot spot shooting ( new feature in all of the other NBA Lives)  and worst of all, you can't pump fake in this game.

Check out the EA forums, there's huge complaints about this.
