Jack's New Tattoo: Revisited

Hey guys, I know it's been discussed a few times, but references to Jack's new tattoo on here have been a little off.  I was suspicious at the analysis that it's "a picture of him holding a gun", cuz I saw it a little bit differently.  I thought it was him praying under a cross with a gun in his hands, or something really deeper than him just "holding a gun".  Alas, on the front page of espn.com, there's a story on his new leadership role and they discuss exactly what I THOUGHT the tattoo was of:

Jackson, who is sporting a new tattoo, says the ink references his past while looking to his future. The image shows two praying hands in front of a church window holding a gun.

I give props to Jack for his leadership and maturity.  Just a friendly reminder that he had no criminal past before the palace brawl, worked his butt off to make it into the NBA, and I personally was never against him either before he was a Warrior or even during his trial when he first became a Warrior while many people were still saying dunmurphy might have been better, or were presumably accusing him and predicting he would be locked up.

Go Dubs!

Awesome
That's so great that you're so awesome at deciphering tattoos.

And...
it's equally awesome that people are so awesome at discrediting the captain of our team!

Awesomely awesome!

LOL

getting tattoos of prayer hands holding a gun
does not strike me as mature. Love Jax on the court and as a warrior but worry about him trying to glamorize guns esp after all the trouble they got him in.

Glamorize?
I wouldn't go that far, but I guess since religion is involved in this issue some might not agree with it.  At least his attitude of moving in a new direction should be universally accepted.

By the way there's no "they", there was only 1 gun incident.

The nature of art
It's not supposed to be "mature," and it doesn't give a crap if people "agree" with it. If it gets you to think for a second, and maybe feel something, it's done it's job. In this case, it seems to have done that.

And crap, even if it's not art, it's his frigging body. People need to lay off the guy. I'd go insane if I had to live under the microscope he deals with every day.

you
have to give the man some credit for trying to change. I like his attitude of trying to be a leader on the court and keep his cool. It's gonna be a true test to see if it actually happens, but I think he will do a lot better this year. One dub.

I think you may have hit on the perfect nickname for Biedrins that we've all been looking for:

^^^^

I'm going to start using it and see if it catches on. Of course I'll credit you.

Now as far as how to pronounce it...

That is the funniest thing I have
read in a long time. If I were one to go all "LOL" on something, it would be that. The ^^^^ movement has begun.

Jack's tattoo
The explanation I read from Jackson, states that the tattoo means
"What that says," Jackson pointed out, "is that I pray I never have to use a gun again."

i'm a little more skeptical of...
the gang sign to the left of it.  anyone watch that "day in a life" bit he did while still in Indiana, where he mentions emphatically while getting dressed that he only wears red t-shirts, never blue?

...i do want to love jax.  i'm struggling a little to reconcile his lovability and stated desire to hold it together, with his somewhat subversive gangster persona and how absolutely nuts he looked while being escorted off the floor in Dallas.
