NOOO Monta Injured?!?!

Just on Sportscenter: Monta Ellis immobilized in a crash between players in practice. No reactions to test below shoulders. Paralyzed? this is scary. sorry I have no link cause I just saw it on ESPN.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

[Moderator's Note, by OptionZero:]

Story from ESPN:

Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis was immobilized and carted off the court after he was injured in a collision during training-camp practice Friday night. Ellis was trying to split a double team on a pick-and-roll when he went down. Ellis lay face down, prone for more than 25 minutes. He has been taken to Castle Medical Center in Kailua, which is about 40 minutes from the BYU-Hawaii campus where the Warriors are holding camp. The team's trainer was able to speak to Ellis, so it appears he is conscious, but there were no noticeable responses to tests for motion, particularly from the shoulders down. Ellis was strapped onto a board to get him on a stretcher to be taken off the court.

crap
This has been mentioned in other places (that they saw it on SC).

No links available yet, definitely not on Warriors homepage.

I hope we get a medical report (a POSITIVE report).

It's bad enough that Barnes has a sore foot and Jack is suspended.

Our depth will be put to the test.

Hope Monta is ok.

Questions? Complaints?

the good thing
is that he has time to recover if it really happened. but i just hope that he is OK besides the fact that we need him.

Jinxed
Just when everyone was talking about how loose and excited the team was at training camp, something horrible like this happens. God, I hope he's okay. It seems really serious. How can someone go back to training seeing there teammate go down like this? Man this sucks...

I don't care about the team @ this point, but let's all pray the kid can just walk again....one of my best friends was paralyzed a year ago tomorrow.

I know the scare of not knowing what the extent of the injuries are....every one say a prayer to whoever it is you pray to.

Ric Bucher just gave an interview on
SportsCenter; it was an innocuous pick and roll where Belinellie and Croshere double teamed, and Monta tried to split and as he tripped and was going down, he hit his head on Wright's hip.

As he was leaving on the stretcher he managed to get the whole team to laugh, so his spirits were strong if not high.

Hella
frusterating not being able to find anything on it except for the tiny article on ESPN.

Just saw Ric Bucher's report on ESPN sportcenter.  I really hope he's going to be alright.  Definately prayers with Monta and his family.

Janny Hu
Just posted on sfgate blog
Ellis was coming off a screen set by Brandan Wright when he tried to split his defenders. Ellis appeared to lose his footing driving between Marco Belinelli and Austin Croshere, and knocked his head on Wright's knee as he fell to the floor.

also says...
Ellis remained face down for more than 20 minutes, only slightly moving his legs, while being tended to by Warriors athletic trainer Tommy Abdenour. Several times, Abdenour stroked Ellis' right arm as if to test it for feeling.

So he was moving his legs a bit.  Thats a good sign.   Really hope he's going to be OK.

Holy crap
That sounds terrible.

Fingers crossed, breath held, thoughts and prayers...

O'm sure he's alright
just sounds like a concussion, not a spinal injury or anything.

I HOPE!!!!

by Jeremy Belvins on Oct 6, 2007 12:22 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

yeah,
he hit his head on wrights knee so he should be fine after resting for a while. 20 bucks says he plays against lakers.

by baller90210 on Oct 6, 2007 12:23 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Dude
He was lying motionless on the floor for 25 minutes. Unless you have some actual medical info that he really "should be fine," your comments, while well-meaning, aren't really appreciated.

We're all dying here, but don't jump the gun on the prognosis.

Be Well, Monta
What a courageous young man to crack a joke at such an occasion.  Dude's not thinking of himself, but his teammates.  The competition's been heating up and Monta was fighting through the trees.  Hope he heals himself and wish his family well.

by eshock on Oct 6, 2007 12:31 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Get well soon Monta
I hope he recovers soon, for the good of the team but also, more importantly for himself and his family.

Man, he has to be okay.  He just has to be...the lack of updated coverage on his condition is frustrating!!!  AAARRRGH!! Please let it not be as serious as it seems.

Scary stuff... the part about moving his legs makes me feel a little better but until we get a solid report I'm holding my breath.
