2007-2008 NBA Blog Previews: Central Division

I can count the days until the the 2007-2008 NBA Season on my fingers! The Central Division is up for the 2nd annual NBA Blog Previews.

Even though this division is housed in the armpit of America (god, the midwest sucks), it's home to some of the Eastern Conference's best teams. Let's take a look at what these teams bring to the table:

  • Detroit Pistons- They bring some incredibly savvy vets to the table. They also bring the worst fans in the NBA. Barbarians I tell you- well aside, from the great bloggers.
  • Cleveland Cavaliers- Great defense, awful offense.
  • Chicago Bulls- They're gritty and tough, but not that fun to watch.
  • Indiana Pacers- Murphleavy! (sarcasm)
  • Milwaukee Bucks- That Yi fellow.

After looking at what these teams bring to the table I'll go on record as saying this is the least entertaining division in all of the NBA. Good god. I'd hate to live there and I'd hate to have to root for these teams.

Things might get a little hairy in the Central Division this season.

I give all the credit in the world for these bloggers for rooting for these Central Division teams and putting together these great previews though:

Shout out to Jeff Clark of the mighty CelticsBlog for organizing the festivities.

This is how I see the Central Division going down:

  1. Detriot Pistons- They're old, but they're smart and savvy. Let's see if they can make it to a 5th straight Eastern Conference Finals.
  2. Cleveland Cavaliers- Sooner or later other teams in the East are going to figure out that no one on this squad besides LeBron can score. The 2007 Cavs are living proof that if the We Believe edition of the Warriors were in the East they would've made it to the NBA Finals... and gotten swept by the San Antonio Snores, but that's another story for another time.
  3. Chicago Bulls- Thanks to the East Coast/ Midwest bias this might be the most overrated team in the NBA. I'd dare say they wouldn't have even made the playoffs if they were in the West.
  4. Milwaukee Bucks- Yi my man- you shoulda stayed in China. Why did you and your crew give in? I'm sure Nellie and Mullie could've rescued you from those annoying cheeseheads.
  5. Indiana Pacers- Haha! Hahaha! Hahahaha! Hahahahaha! Hahahahahaha! Hahahahahahaha! Hahahahahahahaha! Hahahahahahahahaha! Hahahahahahahahahaha! Hahahahahahahahahahaha! Hahahahahahahahahahahaha! Whew. Thanks for the good laugh guys.

What's your prediction for the Central Division?

Chicago is better than that
Chicago has more talent than you are giving them credit for, especially now with Noah on the team. I could see them ending up 2nd in the division if the Andy V and Sasha holdouts last any longer.

Also, man your "fingers AND toes"? The season is only 10 days away by my count. Are you a woodshop teacher or something?

Just the fingaz
Thanks for catching that. I had to delay going live with this piece to give other blog posts more time at the top (especially Fuzzy's science on the fakes). It was fingers and toes till the NBA season started when I originally put this together, but now it's just fingers! Life is good.

WHAT!?!?!
Chicago Bulls NOT THAT FUN TO WATCH!?!?! Seriously I thinks these are one of the funnest teams to watch especially because of their young core and the aggressiveness of their actual team. These guys battle hard no doubt! They have savages like Big Ben, Tyrus, Deng, Gordon that rape the floor! Don't tell me you think Ben Gordon isn't exciting to watch!
I am as powerful as 100 times 100 times 100 times 13 Stilts!

I know it's ugly...
I'm a Michigan transplant out here in the bay.  I've followed the Pistons since the days of Zeke and Co.   The Central has never really been pretty (not even in the MJ days), but they love their teams.

Warrior fans love their Warriors and Central Div fans (esp. Piston fans IMHO) aren't that dissimilar in this respect.  That's one of the reasons since I've moved here, that I've fallen in love with these Warriors.  Super fans that die with their team even  through the bad times...

I don't think that it is a coincidence that the Central and GSOM are some of the best blogs on the Net, period.

Atma, stop dissing
If I had to call somewhere my second home, it would be Chicago. All of my relatives live there, and I visit 2-3 times a year. It's not really that bad of a place. Excellent pizza. It's cold, but I don't mind the cold.

But, to each his own.

Chi-Town
Aside from the weather I gotta give Chicago props. It's the Oasis in the middles of nowhere.
