OPEN THREAD: Game 7 - Warriors vs Clippers - Choose Wisely!

Warriors (W-L): 0-6
Clippers (W-L): 5-2
Time: 7:30pm PST
TV: FSN Bay Area
Radio: KNBR 680

Have you ever read those "chose your own adventure" books? I did as a kid, and I miss them. They were great! Tonight, we are going to be deep in a heart-pounding adventure where we enter a cave to slay the mighty Clippers only to stumble upon a fork in the tunnel.

So where will we end up tonight? If we go left and nail our free-throws, there is a radiant light emanating from the end of the tunnel (Please go to page 45). If we go right and get out-rebounded by 10, we will see a warning sign that says "Caution, 0-7 approaching like no other!" (Please go to page 99).

Unfortunately, we can't put our finger on page 2 and jump to both pages to find out what happens next. I'm pretty sure the Warriors will go with page 99 tonight, just to make it hard on themselves.

If you ask me if I'm worried about this season so far, I say no! We've been without our second best player for the past 6 games who is serving a 7 game suspension for picking the wrong page. You know, the page where the main character decides to fire a gun outside a strip club instead of the page that has him sitting at home in his nice mansion enjoying life! But I digress... tonight I think we can pull this off. Coming off an embarrassing loss to the Pistons when we were up by ... well that's not important anymore. Let's kick butt tonight and show Southern CA who's boss!

40 possible ways to lose is more like it!

Predictions:

  • Warriors win by 4
  • I spill Pepsi all over me
  • I spend more time watching the Dance Squad than the game
  • Warriors give one last emotional effort to win for the home crowd
  • Clippers laugh at my last statement and then outscore us by 20 in a half

Post your predictions before the game and your comments during the game in this open thread.

Warriors by 10...
I say this b/c this team right now is unable to win close games.  So if the score within single digits going into the 4th quarter, it won't look good for the dubs.  Kaman grabs 20 boards and perhaps a really bad Cassell joke in the GSOM recap...

Also, for all you Warriors fans living in the LA area,  the game is on FSNPT tonight.

by ThermoElectro on Nov 16, 2007 2:43 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

LOL
Haha your prediction of a really bad Cassell joke in the recap is guaranteed!

by Fantasy Junkie on Nov 16, 2007 4:02 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I had like 100+ CYOA books
I even had some of the knock-off brands. Hyperspace was my favorite, because it was one of the first ones where you could actually read it forever if you  tried. Edward Packard, the author of Cave Of Time and Hyperspace, was a man among boys. I refused to read "You Are a Shark" because I thought the title was stupid but I read pretty much all of the others even "Return to The Cave of Time".

Cuttino Mobley
is out!! That guy couldn't miss a shot at the end of the 4th in the 1st time we played them

so
all that means is that Cassell will be unconscious tonight.

the warriors dont hav an excuse for losing tonite
they need this win tonight to get the confidence they need on the road b/c they are one of the worst road teams. and if they lose they wont giv captn jack the energy boost he needs in his return.

I agree that the Ws will probably choke it up if it's close -- more incentive to run roughshod over these overachieving SOBs.

If we don't win, the season's basically over, imo.

"Basically"
Meaning, our chances as a mediocre team of climbing out of an 0-7 hole and leapfrogging seven teams into the one available Western Conference playoff spot (yeah, forget about New Orleans) are pretty slim.

I mean, they're slim even if we win, but our margin for error, even with 75 games left, is slim.

All in all: the operative word is Slim.

by Sleepy Freud on Nov 16, 2007 8:04 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Mathmatically, how much slimmer are
their chances at 0-7 than 0-6? Regardless, things aren't looking good. I think 20 games is a good point to check the record and see how much of an uphill climb it is going to be.

by bloodsweatndonuts on Nov 16, 2007 8:58 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Well, 1-6
But yeah, not much slimmer.

Really, I'm just trying a light a little fire. It's a game thread.

must win
if we don't win tonight there is absolutely no hope for the rest of the season barring a big trade. even if we do win there's probably not much hope for the season barring a big trade

IM GONNA MAKE UP SOME RETARDED STIPULATION IF WE DONT WIN SO I CAN BE DISAPPOINTED IF WE LOSE. NEVER FEAR THOUGH GUYS, IM GONNA BITCH AND MOAN WHEN THEY LOSE THE NEXT GAME TOO!

ITS WIN WIN!

all in fun...
Barnes-haters prepare to fire.  Tonight he royally stinks it up;

Biedrins another solid double-double plus continued FT success but rest of team struggles;

Impressive game by Azubuike (25+ pt, 5+rb, 4+ast) plus Monta gains some fans back with a decent performance;

Clips by 9 unfortunately and the losing woes continue;

A crucial injury?

YaoButtaMing
always has the best game previews. Sure, the other guys include some great humour and analysis, but only YaoButtaMing can tie in a "Choose your own adventure" book into the mix. Those were slammin! And it takes a lot of skillz to do it. For that, I applaud.

Now, let's find the Warriors a post-it-note....

FINALLY!!!!
Look at their offense! I love it! Good ball movement and more importantly, they're on the block! They need this more every game. Feed the ball to Biedrins and Al on the block. Get them going and maybe even get some double team every now and then. I hope they stick to this gameplan not just this game but the rest of the season

I'm not worried about the Clips
The Lakers, on the other hand, could be a serious problem, especially if The Little Bitch (TM) shuts up and embraces playing for the them.

Really we just need to keep playing like we did tonight and hope for the best. One major injury to Kobe, or McGrady, or Iverson, et al., and we're right back in it. Anyone got a spare tire iron?

I'm glad they didn't zone us.
Have the Clippers not been watching the first 6 games of the Warriors season? I'm sooo glad that the Clippers did not go to a zone! The zone has ABSOLUTELY killed the Warriors this year. They just start jacking up three's, and the game slows down to a slow halt.

I'm waiting to see how the Warriors respond to a team that plays zone again... and see what adjustments they'll make.

by WhatUSay on Nov 16, 2007 11:13 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

same here
I was surprised why Dunleavy didn't call for the zone early in the third quarter when the score was tighter. The Warriors couldn't hit a three at that time and Tim Thomas started hitting everything.

BINGO!
What a sweet win!!!
since I'm living in Hawaii right now i don't get FSBA.  I do get the Fox Sports LA area stations though, which is great when they play the clips or lakers.  BUT, has anyone watched a game announced by the clippers' announcers?  OMG!  Everytime anyone hits a three one of the guys would shout "BINGOOO!!!"  WHich got REALLY annoying, especially with maggette and the clips hittin all those threes in the first quarter.

by Snesley Wipes on Nov 17, 2007 1:19 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

The Warriors!
It was nice to see POB get a chance, and actually do something with it.  All those summer league games he looked open but never got the ball.  The kid's not half bad, and who knows?

AB is a stud.  I applaud his great free throw shooting and take back what I said about him in that regard.  I eat my words.

I did mention that I thought in 2-3 three years the W's could be best known for their massive front court instead of the best backcourt in the league.

It was a fun game to watch for a W's fan.  A lot of nice plays and great energy right from the start.
