kelenna

when stephen jackson comes back i think kelenna will be ideal off the bench. he's not going to replace  jrich, watching him play the one thing he really brings to the table is scoring, but he also has a one track mind. the first and 2nd option in his head as soon as he gets the ball is how to do find a way to score? and i think with majority of the players you see comprising the starting lineup, that doesn't mesh well with how they work. i dont know how popular this idea will be with the rest of you guys, but why d ont we just start matt barnes at the 3? Then we'd have bdave and jackson starting in the backcourt, with matt and harrington at the forward spots and of course al biedrins starting at center. jackson and barnes represent everything positive with warriors basketball, as they make their teammates better on the floor, and give them that helter skelter style defense with steals and double teams and even key blocked shots . matt barnes also has a nose for the ball and will get huge offensive and defensive rebounds. we'd have kelenna coming off the bench with one specific role in mind, he'd be like the microwave. all of a sudden our team gets a lot more than 1 player deep because we have kelenna, monta and pietrus as solid backups capable of at least 30 minutes of production each. if austin croshere can be any type of presence and brandan wright develops as much as his teammates are saying he will be, we might even have a little bit of depth in the front court!

All he does is score?
I believe he can board as well....5.3 through the first 6. About the same Jrich is averagaing this year. He can also play some D.

Five questions
  1. Is Kelenna an adequate replacement for JRich?
  2. Is Kelenna better than Matt Barnes or Monta Ellis?
  3. Does it really matter who starts?
  4. Is there no end to people on this board who want to whine about the Bobcats' overpaid shooting guard while crapping on Kelenna and Biedrins?
  5. Do the people described in #4 ever get tired of being wrong?
 Answers:
  1. Totally irrelevant (but, based on the early returns, yes).
  2. Probably.
  3. Not really.
  4. (rhetorical).
  5. (rhetorical).

true
true, he does mix it up a bit, so i take that back. but his mindset i feel doesn't mesh well with the first unit. better to be on the 2nd unit and be one of the go to players, rather than having a go to player attitude and playing most of his minutes alongside the barons and the al harringtons.

ko
well biedrins is excellent, the things he did well were the things the warriors desperately need more of, plus he turned his biggest weakness into one of his biggest strengths with his improved foul shooting. jrich was a good player, but i dont look at his absence as the reason why we're playing so bad right now. in fact i was happy to see him go because i thought we were overloaded in the departments he was good at except for rebounding. plus with the trade we open up different possibilities in the future with a potentiol star in the front court position with  brandan wright, we save money and we give other guys a chance to come through. i wasnt crapping on kelena, i just think with what he brings to the team, he's a better fit as a vinnie johnson type of player off the bench who can give us a scoring punch when we get lackadaisical on the offensive end.

It's all good
It wasn't fair of me to make you answer for anti-Kelenna brigade, and sheesh, you didn't even mention Biedrins. I totally agree with all these points. 1dub.

last time i check
our offense gets stagnant once our playmakers sit. So i'd say a playmaker like Barnes would be an even better fit off the bench.

just to make one point
Kelenna/s confidence boomed when he started instead of bellinelli and his confidence turned into all the positive things he do. score, rebound, dunks, hustle, and his biceps. If we put him back into the bench, there is a probablility that his scoring might not be there cause of his confidence.

Kelenna has cooled off from his great start
but he is very solid and a great finisher and rebounder, a nice defender and shooter and makes good decisions.  he's pretty unselfish.  Would i mind him coming off the bench no.  I really don't care who starts as well.  Nellie as we have seen likes to throw out different lineups.

In the line-up
I would say keep kelenna in the line-up.... he rebounds... and we need that... as well as his scoring.

Barnes has to play when Monta is in at the point... because, basically, Monta can't play the point, so Barnes has to be the play-maker.

I loved the chemistry I saw today btwn. Barnes and POB.

Maybe they could be the bench version
of Jack Stack and Beans.

from here on out
baron out probably means jax is still in or inserted in the line up.

by the evil monkey on Nov 17, 2007 8:10 AM PST up reply actions

Yeah...
...one of the best moments of the game was after POB's dunk, he ran back on defense, and as Cassell was already bringing the ball upcourt, Barnes jumped and bodybumped him from behind. Outisde of the cheers at the end of the game, I'd say POB got the biggest ovation.
