OPEN THREAD: Game # 14 - Warriors @ Kings

fsn

Warriors (W-L): 6-7
Kings (W-L): 5-9
Time: 7:00pm PST
TV: FSN Bay Area

As Steve Harvey so eloquently put it, "We're goin' to see the Kangs tonight."

Who would have thought after the abysmal start that we had to our season the Warriors would be making a push to get back to .500 by their 14th game! Not gonna lie to you, exciting stuff.

Our hope for tonight is that the Warriors are still riding the amazing tsunami that allowed them to bowl over the Suns. Few can argue that Monday's game treated us to some of the higher level of play that this Warriors squad is capable of. And while we may not exactly need to duplicate those efforts to a tee tonight, we certainly can't discount this as an easy win.

The Kings have admittedly gotten off to a slow start, but as indicated by their early season win against the Spurs and the fact that they have a decent home record so far (5-2), they are certainly capable of causing some damage when firing on all cylinders. Arco is no easy place to play. Aside from that the Kings have a number of relatively potent weapons (Miller, Martin, Artest) that can get out of hand if not properly defended. Let's hope our boys harness the momentum and energy off our Suns victory and cruise into the sweet land of .500 tonight.

On a sadder note our best wishes go out to our very own Sac-town native, Matt Barnes, who endured the loss of his mother, Ann Barnes, due to cancer. Our best wishes go out to Matt and his family.

Overall, I feel good about tonight. What are your thoughts? Be sure to share them with us as well as SB Nation friends Sactown Royalty.

Predictions:

* Warriors by 6.
* Monta continues his hot hand and goes 20+ on points.
* Arco doesn't come within 10 decibels of the Roaracle.

Game 14 = RESET Button
Remember when you first started playing simulator style sports games.  You got impatient and simmed a whole month, only to have a sucky record?  Then you started a new season all over again?

That is what this game means to me.

Kings are riding high too
after the fateful Monday upset night where they trounced the Spurs.  Beno Udrih is playing well as is Artest.  But, they are no match for us, even in their house.  I hope Matty gets his 30 tonight and gets a huge ovation from the mixed hometown crowd.  His mother's legacy is far more important than basketball, but its important for him to dedicate this game and season probably to his mom's memory.  All the guys will be misty-eyed as will I when I see him.

Amazing
to be able to think .500 after an 0-6 start.  Let's hope the Warriors keep it up.  Kings got a nice win over the Spurs on Mon.  Hopefully Udrih used up all of his good play for the week against the Spurs and goes back to journeyman status while Baron abuses him.  Let's keep Martin down and make Artest and Salmons think they have to do more than they are used to.  Artest may stop SJax but no one is going to stop Baron and Monta (Martin is not good defensively) and Biedrins/Harrington can score on Miller.
Nothing better than "The City".

go dubs!
i hope to see the fire tonight.  some predictions:
  • steve jax and ron artest kiss before the game (a la magic and isaiah)
  • monta goes for 30 for the third time
  • k-mart scores 40 in a losing cause
  • dubs by 12!

Danger
Dangerous game. The Kings have sufficient perimeter players that can ball to make our life hell: Udrih, Garcia, Salmons, Artest. Oh yeah, Kevin Martin.

If they trotted out that lineup, they'd matchup pretty good with us.

Garcia, Udrih, Salmons, and Martin are all sufficiently good passers that they could hurt us if we help carelessly. Artest is always a load in the post, although having Jack or Al on him will help. Presumably experience counts, and hopefully in our favor.

If they play Miller we should score about 100 pts in the paint, since he, Moore, Hawes, Thomas, and 'Reef are useless on defense. Useless.

If the Dubs
execute thier game plans on both ends for 48 mins they have a good chance of attaining the PPG of 108.7 and let the Kings attain theirs 99.7 that is 9 pts there.

15 mins to tip off for win # 7

Go Dubs!

im starting to get frustrated
that azubuike is not getting the start and not being six man. He has shown improvement everygame and become a big distributor and yet not starting and having pietrus come off the bench with him with his shoot first mentality? Azubuike shoots a game winner and this is what he gets. thats amazing

Why do you want to see Belinelli
heave bricks all over the arena? Nelson plays match-ups. If the Harrington on Yao gimick doesn't work tomorrow, you'll see Wright or POB or both.

Although Belinelli would have some wide open shots against that zone.

Those refs were garbage. Utter garbage.
It's as if they HATED the game of basketball and wanted to prove it by crushing the Warriors' tempo.

Send Stern the tape of the Phoenix Game and this game. Watch it back to back. Which game-calling do you think is better for the NBA? Shoot.

We are totally a tempo/rhythm team. When we had to stand around waiting for foul shots, we sucked. Biedrins gets the block and we get a little break going, we win the game. Huge.

Seriously, the defense was insane. Kings shot 34%.

Terrible game...good result
I really expected that our squad would have annihilated the Kings by 20 pts. tonight. I hella forgot to account for the Kings' home record and nearly forgot about their upset victory over the Spurs on Monday. The tempo was completely in Sactown's favor. We weren't able to run and gun our way to a stellar 20 pt. victory tonight. We managed to play the Kings' inconsistent style of offense and thank God for Captain Jack's two 3 pointers or else we would have been upset by the worst team in California. Hella sweet to know that we have won 7 out of 8 games since we have started 0-6 for the season. Another point of note was that we let B-Mill go for 18 rebounds; very unacceptable. Dude is a horrible defender and nearly beat us...LOL. Hella funny to know that B-Mill was the joke of the Kings messing it up nearly every single play. A lot of fouls called against us were pretty stupid. This game was horrific, not until the end. Thank you, Captain Jack!!!

game
I think good ft shooting and good 3pt shooting is mutually exclusive with this team
It's almost like the Warriors have 6 guys out there... they always have a guy open! - Jon Barry commentating game 3 last year
