So, Dirk Nowitzki "hates" the Warriors

Just reading in the paper that Dirk Nowitzki hates the Warriors and their players. Why is he so sour? This guy got the MVP but obviously lacks in having a "good sportsmanlike" personality.

So you "Hate" us Dirk, huh? Like we all said, those are pretty strong words. This is just basketball right?

How many people "hate" Dirk or the Mavericks? The Kobe hating is one thing, but this is personal.

I don't know but I pretty much lost all disrespect for Dirk, but not the Mavs. I still like Avery, but Dirk is stooping a little low.

I'm sure the words may be taken out of context, you guys judge for yourself.

"When a team eliminates you from the playoffs, I sure would hope you're not trying to necessarily send anybody any Christmas gifts," Nowitzki told Dallas reporters this week. "When you play a team in the playoffs, you learn to hate people and hate teams. So definitely, Golden State is one of them."

ease up
he's a competitor.

His team Lost in the playoffs, you want him to have passive feelings?

I'd expect nothing but hatred from the whole Mavs team. I'd be upset if they didn't hate us. It makes for good basketball.

Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.

wow
"you learn to hate people and hate teams"

sounds like he is still bitter and still a little baby.  i would understand if he said that it gets more competitive and maybe a little more angery when you lose in the playoffs but "hate people" wow.

i hate dirk.

What's the big deal?
Is he supposed to like us? The dubs embarrased him in the first round and took away his glory of winning the MVP last year. If he does not have the fire lit under him for tonights game, then Dallas needs to seriously consider trading him for someone that does.
I'm sure their are people on our team that hate Boozer and Deron Williams. You get frustrated with teams and players that always seem to have one up on you.

by tangel29 on Nov 8, 2007 5:40 PM PST reply actions

Yeah
I hate Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer.

And Andrei Kirilenko, and Mehmet Okur, and Jerry Sloan. As well as all the memeber of the the 06-07 Jazz.

I with you there
I HATE the Utah Jazz with a passion.  No matter who they play, I'm rooting for the other team.

But I LOVE the Spurs for taking them straight down in the playoffs (even though it made the playoffs ultra boring).

um
Why do we care what Dirk feels? you'd probably hate someone that made you look like a fool on national TV.

Questions? Complaints?

I think you meant
"I pretty much lost all respect for Dirk" because the way you said it, "I pretty much lost all disrespect for Dirk" would impy you didn't respect him before but now you do, no?  I dunno... maybe I'm wrong but it just sounded funny. Is there an English teacher in the house?

lol, sorry to get all grammer-police-dork on you

but yah... them's fightin' words although I'm glad he's speaking up and tooting his horn (ala T-Mac) because IF we can cash in a miracle and get him again tonight?  OOOhhh man that will be some satisfying PUNKAGE!

I
I <3 Dirk.
If you ever see a dubs jersey #41 with a personalized "Dirk" on the back, that's me.

by jtoj @ Golden State Of Mind on Nov 8, 2007 6:02 PM PST reply actions

Magic Johnson...
...suggested on live TV last night thst Dirk "come in and punch someone... because the Warriors punked them last year."  When asked if he was kidding, he said "No."

So for Dirk to say he HATES the Warriors isn't very surprising...

by UweBlab on Nov 8, 2007 6:02 PM PST reply actions

so with all of that said
Maybe we should put in one of our benchwarmers to punch them first or knock em in the nats. That should create some good drama. I love this game

by highflya on Nov 8, 2007 6:25 PM PST reply actions

yeah
Dirk should shut his mouth and let his play do his talking.  I wouldnt take that as something that he wants to kill anyone from the dubs, but he is probably pointing the blame on the dubs as oppossed to himself for the miserable summer he just went through.  That comment will come back to bite him if he is a no show (again) tonight.

As a mavs fan though, its is nice to (finally) see dirk not beating around the bush about those types of questions and say how he really feels for once, lets just see if it translates into anything...

My prediction is if the dubs win, it will be because the nightmare of S-Jax, B-Dizzle and Nelson still lingers in Avery's, howards, dirks and the rest of the maverick organizations head. If the mavs win, it will be because of howard (if he plays) stack, and role players on the mavs more than the Dirk.   Either way its gonna be entertaining.

Getcha Popcorn Ready... lol!

by Toddy on Nov 8, 2007 6:33 PM PST reply actions

Yeah
Much ado about nothing.

Knowing that Dirk is basically an easy-going guy, you have to assume either (a) he was hamming it up a bit for his critics who think of him as soft; and/or (b) he meant "hate" in a playful, exaggerated way -- more like "I hate broccoli," than "I hate racists." Likely some combo of the two. It's pretty silly to think he actually hates any of the Warriors personally.

And yet somehow, when I read his quote, I figured someone here would take it out of context and use it to bait and incite people. Whatever gets you fired up, I guess. Personally, I don't need any more "motivation" above and beyond winning a damn game...

Yep!!
As a Mavs fan...yes...it's true...I know Dirk's personality (via media) pretty well!! He's anything but mean or evil...in fact, many would say that he is one of the nicest guys in the league! At the end of the day, you can't like who you play at the time. He has even said that he can't like Nash or Finley as a friend when they play!! He has to look at them like an enemy!! I can assure you, if something serious happened to a Dubs player, he wouldn't jump for joy!!

with all due respect
and I mean with all due respect..magic Johnson needs to throw a punch at Kobe. maybe that will shut him up and keep him from crying to the press.

i like and respect dirk
he is a fantastic player. though i may be mistaken (liely), i see his hate as a way of motivating him. absolutely nothing wrong with that. in my mind, dirk is always welcome on the warriors

Hate Mavs
I can't stand losing to the Dallas Mavericks.

I hate how poorly Ellis and Biedrins played tonight. Biedrins can't rebound for s***. He taps the basketball in the air and looks lost out there. Ellis? Lowest basketball IQ on the team, aside from Pietrus. The future? Give me a break.

This loss hurts BAD.

0-5.

WTF is WRONG with this team.

by TotallyWasted on Nov 8, 2007 10:36 PM PST reply actions

no
I"m gonna give you a pass since it's an emotional game.

2 asts
5 blocks
4/6 from the field
1 TO and 3 PF's in
10 boards

The FT's suck, but then, u can blame the entire backccourt for that problem.

If you'd like to blame someone for that missed rebound, blame Barnes for not blocking out in space.

I also blame Nelson for not having Harrington in there, a better defender and scorer anyways.

OZ
It IS an emotional loss. Clouded judgment.

by TotallyWasted on Nov 8, 2007 10:58 PM PST reply actions

well then
My emotional judgment falls on Monta Ellis, who has yet to shoot 50% any game.

He's also had inopportune turnovers, lackluster team defense, disappointing free throw shooting, and overall...a let down.

Forget Noah instead of Wright.

I think I should ask...Crittenton instead of Belinelli?

Questions? Complaints?

(AIM: JetForze; email: Jon.d.ma@gmail.com)

by OptionZero @ Golden State Of Mind on Nov 8, 2007 11:00 PM PST up reply actions

Agreed
Ellis HAS been a let down. He's not playing terribly...his play has simply been underwhelming and, at times, puzzling.

I wonder why Belinelli didn't get the last shot of the game? Baron obviously had a great look, so no complaints there but Belinelli's the best pure shooter on the team.

While Crittenton would totally help this team, a greater question, OZ, might be: should Golden State have included Ellis and Biedrins in the package for KG?

All game long, I brooded in the nostalgic sense over the off season's KG watch. Couldn't help but wonder, what if?

With Garnett we romp to the playoffs and smack Dallas in the jaw.

Dallas jaw smackin ain't sayin' much
allas jaws were almost smacked by an undernourished warrior jr jam squad.
