Around SBN: Cal RB Jahvid Best Seriously Injured, Carted Off Field

Prediction: 5 - 10

This is mainly based on intuition, as I am not one of the Warriors wonks a la OZ or JB or the Daily Contributor Formely Known as Sleepy, but I am a lifelong student of the team and my feeling is that this team has a lot of heart and a lot of potential but we are such an emotional team that it will take a little while for our culture to get in place, which is necessary before the wins really start coming.

Looking at the handy-dandy calendar on the left column of this blog, it's looking like we've been blessed with a really tough begining to our season but that in late November things aren't quite as tough, and December does not look impossibly miserable either.

It's possible that by mid-season we will be a .500 team well within striking range for playoff spots 6-8.  That's provided that Steve Jax does what he has always done for us, B-Diddy doesn't have the wheels fall off, and some of the rooks and sophs play up to their potential (i.e., three out of six of Beans, Ellis, Belli, POB, Lasme, Perovic).

Right now, though, we are 0 and 5.  I see us getting five wins out of our next ten [DET, LAC,TOR, NYK, BOS, WAS, PHI, PHX, SAC, HOU] by winning three out of four against WAS/PHI/SAC/NYK and finding two more from DET/LAC/TOR/BOS/PHX/HOU. Of course, we could do better, or we could do worse, but even if we end up 5 and 10, we're not out of this, folks.

Sounds about right...
Realistically, I don't see any HOT streaks coming from this team until after the all-star break.  Its a young team and highly dependant on 1-3 year players.  The team won't hit all cylinders until 1 of the 4 rookies get acclimated to the NBA, imo.

Either way, if they could just keep their head above water until maybe game #35, they'd still be in striking distance.  Or in position to make a BIG trade.

your
assumption is that a .500 team will make the playoffs. It will probably be much harder than that with how the Hornets are playing.

There is 93.7% of this season left...
It's bit early to start seeding playoff teams, doncha think?

Sheesh, man, 1 six game winning streak fixes that.  This team winning six straight in the next 77 games isn't an impossible feat.

I bet you stopped claimin the dubs as UR favorite team AFTER the last Chicago game last year & returned after they were tied w/ the clips.

I'm a dubs fan rain, sleet or snow, BABY!

Let's be honest
If we keep up with the free throw shooting catastrophe that we have going now we might be more like 2-13 after 15 games.  Nellie and all the coaches have to tell these guys the FT matter, and that when they step to the line they need to concentrate and knock them down at least at a 70% clip for us to have a chance at beating anyone outside of the bottom of the league. I agree with Tim N Chris that we need to have one of the rookies step up, now if Nellie would only give a couple of them enough minutes to get comfortable being on the floor.  This may be one of the most talented Warriors teams I have ever seen we're better then this, Nellie needs to light a fire under Monta's butt and make him play some defense, hey the kid is super quick he just doesn't try that hard on defense.  I saw a glipse last night that he can be a good passer, he just likes to take it to the rack and I can always respect that, but if he's going to do it he needs to knock down the free throws.I like what I've seen out of most of the players, and Al looks a lot quicker than I have ever seen him.  Biedrins needs to start eating protein shakes cause he looked scared against Bass last night and it showed when he got dunked on twice.  Too bad we got rid of Foyle it's going to be trouble when we go against any good low post players that weigh more than 270.  Watch the game against New York Curry is going to roll our super light center & power forwards.  Dwight Howard on the 3rd of december should do the same.  We might want to think about picking up a big fat guy!
It's all about the killer cross-over baby!

no doubt
the thing about nellie and his fire-starting is that the process works in mysterious ways.  he wants to psych-up monta, because the kid has been struggling, but he also wants to bust on him because there have been too many mistakes.  the warriors are like a fragile eco-system - guys like barnes, the younger guys, really need to be carefully cultivated.  too much negativity is like an oil spill strangling the shore...

(sorry, the spill has got me a little bumbed-out)

Curry
you forgot about Randolph. Those two will have their way with us if we continue to play like this.

Also, since you brought up the protein shake thing. I find it alarming that not only are we undersized, we're also underweight... not only are we playing guards as forwards, are big men isn't exactly big.

Biedrins, O'Bryant, Wright, Harrington. more like tall and rail.

an optimist, eh?
that's a 10 and 4 run from here.  i can't see the team culture gelling that quickly.  of course, i'd love to be happily surprised!
