Belinelli: No to D-League

http://www.contracostatimes.com/warriors/ci_7670353

Basically, the article says that Belinelli feels that he is already ready for the NBA and that he doesn't need a nice trip to Bakersfield. While he may or may not be ready, that's Nelson's decision, how can it hurt? I don't understand his reasoning. I think he might feel that the D-League in this connotation is exactly what it is NOT, a demotion. While it may seem to him to be in street clothes and support his team, it is always better to get playing time minutes no matter where you are in order to get rid of this funk. However, if the Warriors push it and he still says no, it could be a pre-cursor to bad things to come.

lol Nelly
"I think it's a sense of pride with him," Nelson said. "Actually, he can get as much done here. He's a good practice player, he loves to play in the gym, so he does his work here."

I guess Nelly isn't as hard on Belinelli as he was on POB.  Imagine if POB said last year "No, I'm not going down to the DLeague; I belong here" LoL

maybe they
need to change the name from "development-league" or it's shortened abbreviation "d-league"," which probably signifies "demotion-league." perhaps something like "NBA-lite" or "NBA Auxiliary League." Maybe then, players might not feel as bad even though they really are being "demoted" so to speak.

why change what's working?
we obviously are clicking right now, and have plenty of shooters. I like Belinelli's shooting, but it seems like improving our perimeter defense is more important right now. It's up to him what he wants to do, but I think he'll be used in practice and also in garbage time. If he really wants to get some minutes, he'll work on his defense.

how
can he come into garbage time if he's in a suit now that Mbenga has taken his spot?

Maybe the D-league ain't a bad choice after all. He'll get another shot, the Dubz at some point will bite an injury bug.

Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.

How about the "E" - league?
As in, the NBEL, the Eastern conference?  Is there any way they can assign him to a team over there to play for a few games and then come back?  I think he'd be an all star over there.

LoL
Put him with the Celtics. Maybe he can touch Ray Allen or something.

You'll be back.

As long as he stays out of NBA games
they can put him wherever they want. But it makes sense for him to go to the D-League to at least work on defense (albeit in a different system) or to get his confidence back.

The Warriors need to bring back St. Jean as a draft consultant. It's like the Warriors' draft strategy is to make Bakersfield a D-League power house. Can you imagine a line-up of:

PG - Belinelli
SG - Kosta (at 7-2 a matchup nightmare!)
SF - Lasme
PF - Wright
C  - POB

the problem is
we know belinelli can own the d-league like he owned the summer league. Thats no problem for him. He needs to work against real opponents and get some confidence. He looks insecure when Nelli plays him and he misses his shots. I bet you he makes those same shots in practice thats why Nelli lets him stay.

I'm guessing
the reason why Nellie is not pushing the issue unlike POB is Marco is lighting it up in practice. I mean we used to hear on those blogs that he'll have a shooting contest with Baron at end of practice and knocking down several consecutive shots. I think it's just a matter of getting the flow of the game.

I really wish we activate him tho, if we're not sending him down. Those little minutes can help him.
