Baron/injuries

After his first few years he played in the following number of games per:

50  02/03
67  03/04
46  04/05
54  05/06

This year maybe 53?

I had high hopes this year but the guy can't stay on the court

So my question is do you think Nelson is already writting Baron off in the long term plans?  I don't see him getting any healthier as he ages.  The NBA is about results only.

My feeling is he will be ready to go with Monta at the point in two years and really doesn't think he can win with Baron

I like Monta
as a shooting guard, not a point guard. Growing can only do so much, and Monta is TURNOVERPRONE. We can get another front line point guard, but all of the current good ones are locked in long term. I don't know any others that can replace Baron [and he is making an assload of money.]

Sadly, we either need to draft a point guard or a big guy. Letting Arenas walk was a big mistake...If we still have Arenas, then we wouldn't even be worried about Baron.

We didn't let Arenas walk
As explained by Bob Fitzgerald

Golden State of Mind: If you were running the Warriors front office for the past 12 years and you could go back in time, what's the one move (draft pick, trade, free agent signing, extension or hire) you would do differently and why?

Bob Fitzgerald: First, I want to be commissioner and put in the rule that allows you to match offers made to second round picks (this now exists). That would have allowed the Warriors to keep Gilbert Arenas. His loss and the rule prohibiting the Warriors from matching the contract still makes me mad. You are smart enough to draft someone in the second round, you develop him and then your hands are tied as far as matching an offer from another team. Obviously, this has been changed and is now called the Gilbert Arenas exception in the CBA. I think Gilbert wanted to stay here and I know the Warriors wanted to keep him. Just unfortunate all the way around.

Monta is to small
to be a high minute shooting guard (AI is an exception to that rule).

The kid is so young that I wouldn't judge him on the TOs yet.

Monta is the future!
I like the way you think. Baron is tough but that knee isnt going to last much longer. So lets be serious. At the end of the season...I repeat...at the end of the season lets see if we can do something with Baron. If we can get a backup point gaurd and a rebounder and clear space it might be a good idea. One of things I like most about JR is that his contract isnt onerous. Now I want to make it clear that I really like BD. Ive said before I wear his jersey to every game and while watching games on tv too. But we have to do whats best for the team. Monta and JR is a legit backcourt (statically speaking because we havnt really seen them play together) Andris is an decent center that has shown the ability to improve(I wish he would slam more because some of those dinky push in get swated hard in his face).
So we keep at least Monta and Andris, but next year its going to be what about JR's knee and I'm going to write something like...Oh I love JR but that knee isnt going to last forever.

Actually I am wondering
what others think Nelson is thinking

Seems to me he is calling the shots now and picking the players he wants to build around

I am just wondering if he really thinks he is going to win with Baron

I think so
The way Nelly talks about Baron...all that stuff about wanting to hang with him and go to dinner and all the mushy stuff nelly says about him...you gotta think he really believes in Baron. For now...

Lol
But we already a youth movement in Golden State, and we just ended up with a bunch of doe eyed players...

How good is our scouting department?

I dont know about the scouting dept
but Jason kidd has the seventh highest contract in the league and hes 34ish. We dont have the room for him anyway unless JR or BD are traded it cant happen financially. Both of them are injured and have multiple year contracts so Kidd is not coming I promise.

Well Kidd better not end up with the Lakers
I don't know what I'd do in frustration.
