Rumor: Nellie Wants Another Trade + Mickael Pietrus on the Trading Block
From Mike Monroe of the San Antonio Express-News:
The Warriors are at a curious point. They are currently a very unimpressive 5 games below the .500 mark, however they are only 1.5 games out of the final playoff spot in the West. One bold move at the trade deadline could push them over the top and help then end that ridiculous 12 year streak. On the other hand, if the Warriors entered into tank mode they could potential score themselves a real stud in this upcoming draft to fill in one of their gaping holes for years to come.
Should the Warriors be looking to make a move at the deadline this year to make a run at the playoffs or just go into tank mode for a balla in the 2k7 NBA Draft?

just go into tank mode?
Naw I say let's play Josh with Dris more to try and develope a little bigger halfcourt game then let cabbages pick and roll a bit and see what happens.

joking
The warriors have nothing to offer teams in the lottery to move up. Therefore we need to have a worse record if we want to draft a stud. Which i am all for now. Warriors, make my wish come true! Winless after the break!

A stupid question?
Anyway, the Warriors don't seem all that blessed when it comes to the lottery or making wise draft decisions, so I'm pretty ambivalent on whether it would be better to tank or try for a playoff push.

Easy Answer: Trade MP, Please.
Screw the draft. A mid first round pick cannot be relied on to change the fate of our franchise.

Whaddyathink?
But the 3 I mentioned I think would be able to contribute, especially in our offense. And they can play some D..(well not all too familiar w/ Frye's D) Would you guys think that we could package up Pietrus and maybe a pick or another player for these guys? And would it be worth it? I'd say so.

I agree....
Gooden is a bit smaller than I would want but he's good defender and a good rebounder both columns we need help in.
As for Frye, he seems mobile for a big, would probably fit in nicely in the system.
It would be nice to see them give it a shot and pick up an decent big. I feel you guys on the draft not being the best option anymore. We have some good, young talent to work on. We don't need another P.O.B. type project...

Knicks
Isiah seems to draft well, but hasn't shown that he's above making terrible trades. Earlier this season he sent Lee to the bench Maybe we can steal Lee from him.

David Lee
Lee is getting a double-double scoring about 10 a night in a bit over 30 minutes. The scoring isn't impressive until you realize that he's getting those 11 points on 7 shots, largely by hitting 61% from the floor and 80% from the line. Undoubtedly some of those high percentage shots are the same type that Biedrins already gets us, but having another guy who boards and converts when he gets the ball, especially one who isn't a liability at the line late in games, would be a big plus. He's also had more assists than turnovers for his career indicating he knows how to take care of the ball and doesn't force things.

I like sideshow too
I do think we might be a little skewed because he kills the Warriors front line but still
So the Cavs can't match the offers? I thought that was changed because of Gilbert

From SFGATE.COM
Meanwhile, rookie Patrick O'Bryant is averaging 17.0 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.3 blocks while shooting 51 percent in his last six games for the D-League's Bakersfield Jam.
After initially saying O'Bryant would remain in the minors until the Jam's season is over, Nelson said during the last road trip that O'Bryant could be recalled earlier.

It looks like O'Bryant could be back a lot sooner than many of us thought. If we don't trade for another big in the next week, I think he will be up by March. Plus it good to hear Nellie praise Powell. hopefully he will use him more.

I'm against tanking in all its forms
It seems to me that we're closer to getting to the playoffs than getting the first pick (or should i say, a chance at the first pick). Can this team tank up a storm to get us there? Most likely not. We score at too good a pace, making it hard to lose any more than 3 games in a row. Eventually we'll win 140-139, ya know? With that in mind, it makes much more sense to rid ourselves of the Streak and create a winning atmosphere. Baby steps guys, baby steps...
I doubt that Pietrus is worth anything around the league. But then again I doubted Murphleavy was worth anything around the league as well.

Tanking?
Even an 8th seed vs. the Suns would be a good thing for young and inexperienced guys.

The crazy thing here
But that's the problem: without a defined role, we get to see how low his basketball IQ is. He's good at doing what he's supposed to do, and bad at doing anything else. Sometimes we call that "low bball IQ"--other times we call that "being a good role player".
But I agree, he's tradeable. As long as we get a good low-post "role player" for him. Hopefully we won't think his replacement is dumb and spacey.

Also, the salaries don't match. Throw in Biedrins++ and they might consider it.

what it would take to get Gooden
It's true though, Gooden's a starting NBA power forward; not really all-star level, but solid, fairly consistent.
If the dubs want to keep Al as the starting 4, which has some nice offensive advantages, then we don't really want another starting 4. We certainly don't want to mess up our core or our future.
Cheers!

the real problem
I'm sick of our drafts. We drafted guys that couldn't help us this year. P.o.b. is a loooonnngggg way off.
If any team is dumb enough to take M.P. (who being 6-6 cant dribble and makes poor decisions in the open court). And we can get a decent rebounder and defender with size-we've got to pull the trigger.
If we go for the draft we will stay in playoff hell for the next few years!
Sorry guys im just sick of a losing team.
