Rashard Lewis on the Trading Block?

So I was looking at ESPN.com and saw an insider article (which I couldn't look at) that said Rashard Lewis might be going to the Knicks. Then I thought, isn't he known to be a great rebounder and someone that could matchup inside? I could be wrong, but I decided to experiment with the trade machine and tried to guess what the Seattle GM would want.

So I proposed POB, Zarko, Pietrus, and Barnes for Lewis. Seattle would be getting 5 mil cap relief and  a guy who is tearing up the D-League.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=1765~1997~3019~2173~469&teams=25~25~25 ~25~9

My premise could be wrong, so I don't know.

yeah, he's going to fix our problems. another guard.

If you take a look out of your windows, you can now see Dallas, TX. Quite the site, no?

Hahha.
Color Me Incorrect.

I guess now i'd pull the trigger on that deal. For some reason I thought he was a guard. Ignore me.

a forward BUT
a very offensive minded, 3pt shooting forward; not too savvy with boards or D.  Would have been great before Harrington, but they're too similar really.

Cheers!

exactly what i was thinking
its kinda like when we had ike diagu it would have been stupid to draft sheldon williams if he was available.

Rashad Lewis
is a horrible, I mean horrible (Bill Walton inflection), defender.  There is a reason the Sonics have Rashad Lewis AND an All-Star, yet remain a poor team.  However, Isiah would likely trade for him if it means giving up young talent, which apparently he abhors.

so he'd fit right in with the dubs
hahaha. but for real, i would rather have lewis than harrington. now that the warriors have harrington tho i don't think lewis would fit anywhere here

why

I would rather have Lewis over Harrington too...
No offense to Harrington (I like the way he plays...) but Lewis is a LEGIT 3 point threat.  They both rebound about the same (around 6-7 boards per game) but... I mean this Lewis guy is consistent with his shot... where as Harrington is more of a streaky player.  Add that to the fact that Lewis is a certified SF (even though he's 6'10"... its good to know that he knows his position and is not considered a "tweener"), a certified scorer (over 20ppg the last 3 seasons), is almost automatic from the charity stripe (when do we not need help here... his 90% is WAY better than Harrington's 70%) and does play decent defense (averages about a steal per game and a block ever other game)... there is no question who the better player is.  The only reason why we didn't get Lewis (there were trade rumors over the summer... sending Murphy up to Seattle for him) was because of his contract situation.  He's planning to opt out this summer... making him a free agent (he's gonna try and demand more money than his $10 mil he would get next season)... The Warriors were trying pretty hard if I remember correctly... but Seattle thought they could do better than Murphy and scrubs.  All I'm saying is... I'm happy with TMNHarrington on our team... but it would be nice to see Lewis in a Warriors uni.

be careful
not to equate good defense with getting blocks and steals... I don't think anyone would say Lewis is a better defender than Bruce Bowen, who averages less in both categories

I never said "good" defense
I said decent... because people on here has stated that he plays none at all.  All I'm saying is he's a somewhat decent defender.

Lewis
He's averaging 6.8 boards per game this year, and 5.8 for his career. He may be a poor defender (I  have no idea) but just by the numbers seems like he's a good rebounder for a small forward. Unless someone that watches him more could tell me the numbers are inflated or something, I've honestly barely watched him before.

Geez,
he IS having a good rebounding year.  His repuatation is that of a pourus rebounder.  One problem with the Sonics is that they are poorly coached and their star, Ray Allen, is a horrible defender.  So the team, as a rule, doesn't try on defense.  And Lewis is proably a worse defender than Allen.

But if he rebounds at this level, with his excellent offense, he's stil a good player.  He's a better offensive player than Harrington, but the Sonics are interested in Nate Robinson and Channing Frye and some expirirng contract and the Warriors aren't going to give something like that in a trade.

Most of those rebounds are on the defensive end
though and he was pretty much the only other big they had besides Collison/Wilcox to secure rebounds off the other teams misses all season.

We need an offensive rebounder, since the Warriors shoot too much and don't make a whole lot, not another guy capable of 20 points a game on 15-18 shots.

OVERRATED!!!!
rashard is an over rated tweener who has never lived up to the hype!!! nice atheletisicm, good length but not very physical and spends most of his time on the perimeter. don't want him!!!!

yeah
with all the praise of him being better then harrington i was thinkin kinda the same thing.  i don't think he could play small foward in a running game and he's not a very good fit at powerfoward and he mainly is a jump shooter.

dude
lewis is raw.  Al is just a worse version of harrington.  I wish we got wilcox that man can rack the boards

Our boy
dropped 34 tonight on 13-25 shooting, 3-7 3ptrs, and 5-6 FT. Also got 7 boards, 3 offensive. It was against the Grizzlies though
