OPEN THREAD: Game # 49 - Warriors @ Pacers

Warriors (W-L): 22-26

Pacers (W-L): 26-21

Time: 4:00PM PST tip off

Hey! I know these guys!

full getty-71797001rh014_raptors_pacer_9_34_37_pm

At least we know how to defend Dunleavy!

Tonight the Warriors will face off against the Indiana Pacers for the first time since the two teams swapped players. It's always interesting to see a scenario like this. While all reports are that our acquisitions like being a part of the Warriors, how have Dunleavy, Murphy, and the rest of the exes reacting to being a part of the Pacers? It has been noted in the past that Carlisle's offensive system isn't the most exciting for his players.

Being the prolific scorers that they are, Murphy and Dunleavy must be bored out of their skulls!

Yes. That was sarcasm.

I really consider this game to not only be a must-win but to be well within reach. With Jermaine O'Neal potentially out for the game, there is no reason that we should drop this one. Unless you count the fact that we suck on the road. In any event, this should be exciting. A lot of people are going onto the court tonight with a lot to prove!

Guys, take this one down. I can't stand the thought of a team with Dunleavy beating us.

Vegas Odds: Indiana favored by 5 1/2.

GSoM Prediction: Warriors by 8; Baron dunks over Dunleavy.

Everything about the trade:

I predict
if Baron does not play he will not dunk over Dunleavy.

by Athletix Man on Feb 5, 2007 1:41 PM PST reply actions

hmm
Warriors by 7

Dunleavy gets his triple single tonight with 8 pts on 4-13 shooting, 5 assists, and 6 rebounds.

Al Harrington hits 4 of 7 3s and grabs 9 rebounds and 18 points

Baron scores 23 pts and 12 dishes

Jermaine O neal gets 22 and 15

Foyle sees 3 mins of PT

by djchuckdeez on Feb 5, 2007 1:44 PM PST reply actions

Finally we gonna kick some ass
Thats my prediction.
Warriors by 20
monta scores 24
Harrington goes for 28

by Jacque on Feb 5, 2007 1:51 PM PST reply actions

Uhhh.
I'm gonna say Warriors win at the buzzer, Stephen Jackson daggers em, shows them what he's worth.

102-100 victory.

If you take a look out of your windows, you can now see Dallas, TX. Quite the site, no?

go dubs
didn't think i'd snap out of it this soon but i'm excited.  at least it'll be bit of a mind f* to see murphleavy on the other end of the court.

i've given up trying to predict what's going to happen but if baron's out monta has shown that he can step up big so i'm looking for a big impact from our tender ankled young superhero.

i think diogu might really take it to us in the low post.

i hope we come out fast, hungry and aggressive.
GO DUBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by redape on Feb 5, 2007 2:21 PM PST reply actions

Hmm..
Warriors lose, but we get some great funleavy photos--probably one where he's on the ground getting trampled by Pietrus/Barnes and another one where Harrington /Jax/or Pietrus seriouly posterizes him.

on a side note, i was watching an indiana game recently where dun was cutting, got the ball near the block, wide open, but for some reason tripped over himself.  as he is falling over, he throws the ball up hitting the bottom of the backboard. then he gets up waving his arms around looking for a foul as the other teams takes off on a fast break.  classic dunleavy.

Oh Rawle Marshall goes for a career high 22 and J.Tinsley gets 14 assists.  Its almost more fun guess who's gonna blow up on the opposing team than it is guessing who the Warrior Wonder is.

by dj fuzzylogic on Feb 5, 2007 2:22 PM PST reply actions

Oh 4 Sho!
  • Warriors by 6
  • The Warriors actually win the battle of the boards.
  • Harrington plus Jax = 50 points
  • Dun gives us his best triple single with at least one hilarious AIR BALL.
  • I think Troy's out tonight, but both he and Ike deserve some luv from Warriors Nation- just not tonight.
  • Those hicks in Indy boo Jax like crazy at the start of the game, but by the end start booing Dunleavy. Haha and the world is restored to its natural order.
  • Millions of Warriors fans boo Dunleavy on their TV sets at home.
  • More Funleavy Foto Fun! It will be the last time this season (thankfully), so you DO NOT want to miss this game.
I think Hash said it best:
Guys, take this one down. I can't stand the thought of a team with Dunleavy beating us.

by Atma Brother ONE on Feb 5, 2007 2:23 PM PST reply actions

my prediction
indiana wins by 8-10 points.  diogu goes for 15 and 8

by chimp on Feb 5, 2007 2:24 PM PST reply actions

No O'Neal=
Alot of Diogu.  Only person who can maybe bang with him is Foyle.  We are doomed!!!

And let "Killa" Kelena play more. He could be tha next Maggette...Stretch... I think not.

Still game time decision
Just said on KNBR, prob won't know until after the pregame warmups.

dubs
look for the dubs to play inspired ball tonight. If Jermaine O'Neal doesn't go, I think we will dominate.

Warriors won one thing today.
They were in a fender bender with a small car. Nellie said the Big Bus came away the winner.

by Athletix Man on Feb 5, 2007 3:54 PM PST reply actions

Then he talked about,
the police coming on board and he yelled, get down and hide. Didn't hear the whole thing but think he was joking about S.Jax. Saying he had to hide under the seat.

by Athletix Man on Feb 5, 2007 3:56 PM PST reply actions

Warriors
Got a huge ovation when they arrived. Because they had a police escort to the game through the crowd celabrating the Colts win. They thought the Warriors bus was the Colts.

Unknown Superstar
Pacers win by 7.  The Warriors lackluster defense makes a relatively unknown Pacer dominate the game, star on ESPN's Top Ten, and get 27 articles about how a player this good could have been left off the all star team.  Is there no Justice!?!

by utep2step on Feb 5, 2007 4:12 PM PST reply actions

14-4 out of the gate!
Can it last?  Will Monta have less than 10 TO's running the point?

Pietrus has a low basketball IQ, he should've slow down and wait for everybody else.
On a side note, it's fun to see Dunleavy and Murphy wearing some other uniform.

Positive outlook
Jackson is on pace for 44, he wont get there but thats a nice start.  Harrington is shooting reasonably well.  Biedrins is going for  another giant performance.  best of all MDJ is 0-4 with 1 TO

by FoyledAgain on Feb 5, 2007 4:36 PM PST reply actions

We need a 30+ point lead
at the half for me to relax.  I've seen this team fall apart too many times to start celebrating...

Foyle
Wow what a fake pass to Monta!

by semarubaka on Feb 5, 2007 4:38 PM PST reply actions

the indiana fans have nothign to boo about they have a celebration for the colts next door, they should go there

by djchuckdeez on Feb 5, 2007 4:38 PM PST up reply actions

scary
foyle running with the ball AND trying to pass...none of those things should ever be in the same sentence

by dirrty on Feb 5, 2007 4:38 PM PST reply actions

Hmmm, his team can play a little
When our point guard isn't bricking 3-pointers all game long. Just sayin'.

Monta > Baron

by Sleepy Freud on Feb 5, 2007 4:41 PM PST reply actions

you're on to something there
i know it's not fashionable to knock baron...but for all his strengths...we have played well without him this year.  i won't question his effort or intentions...but he does tend to dominate the ball...and not in a good way.  not what you want for $15M.

by TMC Forever on Feb 5, 2007 4:46 PM PST up reply actions

yea
and the ball at some points seemed to be moving better.

by BRETTcuziaintthatcreative on Feb 5, 2007 5:13 PM PST up reply actions

I'm not sold on we-play-better-without-Baron
mainly because Pacers are basically missing every wide open jumper. These are the same jumpers that were falling against us in the rest of the road trip.

by gsw4life on Feb 5, 2007 5:22 PM PST up reply actions

don't we look good
when the other team is missing open jumpers

...pushing for dun to succeed?  this is like the most he's played in a half since joining indy (not completely sure)! are they thinking that he's really gonna come out and play hard and seek revenge against his former team?

please let pietrus walk this summer if anyone is willing to pay to have him make poor decisions for their team

by dirrty on Feb 5, 2007 4:55 PM PST reply actions

Warriors
need to be more careful with the basketball.  Again Pietrus took a terrible shot.
I'd have to agree that those charges are bs calls, that's the reason why the league is considering penalizing players for flopping.

by semarubaka on Feb 5, 2007 4:56 PM PST reply actions

beeds
we all know he's gotten alot better at avoiding the foul this year, but it's really noticable this game, because Tinsley keeps trying to jump into him and he avoids him and still blocks the shot

by gsw4life on Feb 5, 2007 4:58 PM PST reply actions

8 points, 11 boards, 3 blocks
Plus an assist an a steal. Not a bad first half for the big guy.

(edit: not a bad one for MONTA, either!!!)

Mike Dunleavy

by semarubaka on Feb 5, 2007 5:04 PM PST reply actions

Is there a game tonight?
Sorry I was celebrating a Super Bowl. Looks like the Pacers were celebrating one last night too. When I first saw the score I figured O'Neal had indeed taken the night off, but no, he's playing and playing well. Ouch. Al and Jack must be enjoying the familiar surroundings and a little pay back.

AW DAMN!
what did dun look like? was it him who got shot over?

by dj fuzzylogic on Feb 5, 2007 5:12 PM PST reply actions

no...he wasn't really in the play
it was a camera shot across the full length of the court from under the other basket.  dunleavy is at about half-court and after he sees the ball go in, he turns around in the direction of the camera, shaking is head, with one of those disgusted "someone up there hates me" looks.  priceless.

whew...
SJax had a "quiet" 36.  AB with 15 and 10 and 3+ blocks.  Harrington and Monta both with 10 pulls.  11-17 from 3PT as a team (huge, considering the last couple games)

2 games out of playoffs!
let's do this! (and let's block the previous four games out of memory...)

Great win
YaHaveSomeCabbages got to play, but I was suprised Azubuike and Powell got no PT.

24 Turnovers - good thing 3PT and FT shooting were lights out.

Did anyone notice the FT's?
28-33 as a team. 84.8%. That is really good for the Warriors.

by jpgarfunkle on Feb 5, 2007 7:20 PM PST reply actions

I believe!
it is because we have Al Harrington and Stephen Jackson shooting FTs now. Their percentages are better than Baron/Jrich/Dun/Murph. Its sooo good we're not used to it.
