WHO NEEDS YI...

when we have PEROVIC!  There's been a KOSTA PEROVIC sighting, in Europe of course, and he seems to have developed quite well since the W's drafted him.

By Janny Hu
From SFChronicle

Perovic, a 22-year-old center from Serbia, is currently putting up impressive numbers for BC Partizan Belgrade in the Euroleague playoffs, which is entering its sixth and final week of Top 16 play.

The 7-foot-2, 240-pounder is averaging 11.2 points and 6.3 rebounds in 28 minutes per game after posting similar numbers for his club team in the Adriatic League.

Perovic's standout performance came two weeks ago when he posted 19 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Greek powerhouse Olympiacos.

Okay, so Yi might actually be better, but should we really draft another soft 7-footer, or trade the pick and look for a veteran in trade or free agency for our young team, or draft a player in another position?

Just thought I'd share this article w/ you all since I totally forgot about this guy myself!

GO WARRIORS!!!

not so sure
because when the Warriors make the playoffs, maybe some other team will draft Yi, I would trade the pick.

The 7-foot-2, 240-pounder...
10 lbs lighter and 3 inches taller than biedrins? (going by what AB is listed as currently)  Either way, thats not gonna solve the problem of the absence of big man on the block.

well....
those numbers aren't impressive enough to make me do anything.  Kosta is an afterthought

The Warriors need
a power forward who can board firstly and can run the floor a bit like a Nick Collison or Anderson Varejao.

Someone around 6'10 and 240-250.

I doubt this Serb guy will ever make the NBA

Yi is more of a small forward and is very thin so I don't think he should be compared to any of these guys

SF?
I am still wondering why some think Yi is 'more of a 3'. He is a straight-4 and will be one in this league. He's lacking in bulk but has the frame to build up a little and have a Chris Bosh-type body.

Just because he prefers to face-up doesn't mean he is a 3.

I read it in a scouting report
Maybe you have seen him?  Otherwise what else is there to go on?

I think the report called him a tweener 3/4 and it mentioned that his low post defense is non existient

by Zig on Mar 20, 2007 4:49 PM PDT up reply actions

Still my main point is
he is nothing like a center that people seem to think simply because he is 7'0 and he is nothing like Yao Ming or this Serbian guy from the stuff I have read.

by Zig on Mar 20, 2007 4:50 PM PDT up reply actions

I take that back
maybe Perovic will play in the league some day and he can back up at center after reading the article

Still they need a tough back-up small forward who can board and play a bit of post defense

and Yi, as far as I can tell is a face the hoop player who can't play defense in the post

trade up for Horford
he gets missed in all the Ogden/Durant talk but now that Texas is out, he'll get more media play ... which is bad for GS cause he's not gonna last long in the draft and we'd have to give up more for him

by hardcore on Mar 19, 2007 6:26 PM PDT reply actions

I'd love Horford but...
I don't think there's a chance in hell we could move up far enough to get him. www.nbadraft.net currently has him at 4 to Milwaukee. I think if we can move up to get someone its gonna be a much smaller move to get a Corey Brewer or Al Thornton. I think these are much more realistic.

realistic?
we're FANS!

I agree, Horford would cost us, but just think he's the best fit at the best price ...

Ilguaskas?
I hope with the comparison to Zydrunas Ilgauskas, they don't mean he's kinda sluggish...we need someone like Yi who can run the floor, finish and flourish in Nellie's offense...
...never a fairweather fan...
