Article about Warriors great DEFENSE.

Alright so most people would say the Warriors don't play good defense. Usually I respond with "Warriors lead the league in steals, blocks, opponent turnovers, points off of turnovers and fastbreak points."

Some say that those stats don't really say much, but if they read this article they'd know what i'm talking about.

Check it out.

With a starting lineup of Baron Davis, Jason Richardson, Stephen Jackson, Al Harrington and Andris Biedrins, the Warriors are 6-0.

But why they are 6-0 in those games would surprise those who have not watched the games.

The Warriors are winning with defense.

The average final score in those six wins is 107-94. The Warriors are still scoring at a high rate, but the defensive end is what is producing wins.

Rest of the article can be read here:

The Oakland arena
hasn't been rocking like this since gilbert arenas wore a warrior uni. If the adidas commercial says that gil sat on the bench all the time, someone has to be lying right? either this article or the commercial.
Rollin into the playoffs like a fat guy rolls into McDonalds!

i think
the commercial says that Gilbert only sat the bench for the first 40 games of his career.

yeah thats what they said
i hate that commercial hes all acting like he was person who played a couple years. dam even some #1 picks sit out for that many games and he was complaining like we didnt even believe in him. Um the warriors gave you a freaking chance your lucky you evne got drafted and we got you you 2nd rounder!. ahh makes me just want to burn my gsw arenas jersey right now!

seriously?
i loved the trailer video and the backcourt of jrich and boomdizzle! keep up the good work (this is kind of like meeting a celebrity.....well, except not really)

Thanks
Yeah but i'm just a regular Warriors fan like the rest of us, who happens to like making sports videos. Nothing real special about me for now.

I'm also making a 2nd part for the "Baron Davis/Jason Richardson Backcourt" video. So keep an eye out for that also.

Back on topic, the Warriors need to keep up that great defense that they mention in the article. They have a tough schedule ahead of them. Still gotta play the Spurs twice and it will be hard to contain Tim Duncan. I'm also worried about their road game against the Jazz tomorrow...

Most of these games can be won if the Warriors continue playing the recent defense. They have the offensive tools to light up the scoreboard, but they still have to stop teams from constantly scoring back at them.

No need to be modest
Those videos are really well produced, and, man, I can always count on them to give me a lift.

Thanks
I haven't made any new Warriors mixes in a really long time, but my next ones should be pretty good.

The man's too humble!
Five Ten Entertainment is the Spike Lee of Warriors' mixes!

Yo, Five Ten- you gotta do a video mix of GSoM Night at The Oracle. GSoMers roll deep!

by Atma Brother ONE on Mar 19, 2007 10:54 PM PDT up reply actions

That's actually a good idea.
I don't know if you meant a "video mix of GSoM Night at The Oracle" as a joke, but it would be a pretty good idea to make a video for that, to convince even more people to go to future GSoM Nights.

Lol
Yeah, I love your videos. I first saw Dun Dun go wild from your video.

lol
Yeah it was always fun making videos to bash on Dunce. I gotta give him props though, he tried to make the best out of his situation here.

They're defense has been crazy.  They're so fast and they just swarm everyone.  I'm loving it.

great article
"And the chant of "Dee-Fense" has actually meant something lately. " So true. Everytime I'm at the Oracle now, the "D-fence" chant for me becomes several decibels louder and 100x more obnoxious.

by allthatjazz on Mar 19, 2007 4:36 PM PDT reply actions

De-Fense...
I was usually one of those guys that would say that those stats don't really mean much because of the fast pace the warriors play at,BUT i have been really impressed with the D lately.

Two examples that come to mind are the Twolves game and the Nuggets game

Twolves
35.6% FG
15.8% 3pt

Nuggets
38.4% FG

Now those are some stats that don't lie. Combine that opp. FG % with the steals, blocks and opp. Turnovers and there is no doubt that the Warriors D is improving with everyone healthy.

I agree
that we've been playing much better defense the past couple weeks then we did during the season. Even though we lead the league in all those categories, the best way to tell how good a teams defense is, is to look at the PPG diferntial between poitns scored and points allowed. If you look at ESPN.com at the standings all the top teams in a league have a PPG diferntial of +5 and above, right now the Warriors are at -1.9. If we keep playing defense the way we do, I have no doubts that we can be one of the better teams in the west, the whole key to it though is keeping up our intensity on the defensive end of the court.
