OPEN THREAD #61 - WARRIORS @ PISTONS

Warriors (W-L): 26-35

Pistons (W-L): 37-20

Time: 4:30pm PST

TV: FSN Bay Area

Radio: KNBR 1050

The Warriors are in Motown for their final test, calculus--also known as the dreaded Pistons.

I liken the Warriors to that slacker kid who sits and slumps in the corner of class, keeping to him/herself usually doodling pictures on the desk.  As the typical high school archtypes go, the kid is usually an ex-honors student so disenchanted by the droning of his middle class suburban life that s/he decides to find solace in his/her "non-comformist" and "wreckless" (for middle class suburban life) behavior: in this case, a little mj, maybe some cigarettes, ripped heavily tapered Mervyns, Sears, or JC Penny jeans, Army fatigue jackets, a bad haircut from Fantastic Sams that his mom made him get 3 weeks ago, and some death metal music that ironically is about pretty things like unrequitted love. It is a way out of the highly regulated life of outer-city life.  As you can tell, I grew up in the 'burbs and witnessed much of this.
GothDance2

Well, the Warriors, like these "rebellious" kids, have some talent -- enough to compete at least -- yet, refuse to get their act together.  Granted, the injury bug has gotten them in addition to some biased reffing; yet, that's  still no excuse.  Although the Warriors owned the Pistons the last time they met (111-79), the new look Pistons  (16-4 since getting Chris Webber) tells me that CWebb's hex on the Warriors is probably as strong as ever.
games
The W's need to stop playing games and start paying attention!

Also, as the GSoM midwest correspondent, look out for me on TV!  I will be attendance sporting my GSoM shirt somewhere behind one of the baskets in the lower bowl.  Any other GSW fans in Michigan going to the game?  Lets hope the barbarians of Auburn Hill won't be dousing me with beers like they did Artest.

Vegas Odds: Pistons by 11 (according to USAToday @ 12:12pm pst)

Predictions:
        *Warriors by -8
*JRich struggles in front of his friends and family in his home state of Michigan but hustles and plays good defense.
        *Pistons dominate the boards
*At least three people yell some obscenity towards me about rooting for the Warriors
*I get a hot dog and chocolate malt

Make sure to give us your predictions in the comments before tip off and post any comments you have during the game right here.

Exactly what I was thinking
although I'd add that Nellie calls for an iso when JRich is mismatched with Webber guarding him to make something happen; preferably the poster-izing Jason used to do to the Shawn Bradley's of the world.

They've closed the gap on how much they are losing by so its not a 20+ point rout everytime and Jason was putting up great numbers vs. Washington, nearly a triple double with 3 blocks to boot. Anyone want to say that argument about trading him since coming off the knee injury he's not going to be the same, again?

The Pistons are tough but the Warriors need to stop this losing streak already.

Predictions:
The Warriors give me a huge birthday present with a win to cap off a generally lame day.

Adonal drops a double double! Please?

POB hits some more of those P.J. Brown jumpers!

Mr. Fuzzylogic gets on TV!

Adonal gives a special shout out to Zorgons birthday in an interview after the game.

it's no problem. Beggars can't be choosers, eh? It's free. I understand that organizing GSoM night and mailing out T-Shirts can be a toll. I still have a spot reserved on the wall for it....

And thanks for the birthday wishes.

11-0 Run to end the half by the Warriors. Aw yeah!
  • JR with 19 points at the half
  • Jax 5 dimes and BD has 4
  • Biedrins 6 for 6 from the field
These guys came to play tonight. It's really too bad they've been so injured.

by tadams1080 on Mar 5, 2007 5:49 PM PST reply actions

This is fun stuff homie!
When I first saw the starting lineup earlier, I was like got dayum thats a solid starting 5. When they were hanging with detroit on the early going no matter how big the lead they took. They were down by 9 at one point, came right back. 7 at one point, came right back. 5 at one point, right back in it. It's just exciting to watch them play WELL. The alley-oop that fueled raw hate from the Palace was tasty too.

is it me or
does it seem like jax doesnt do a lot of passing when he gets the ball? but then when you look at the box score he already has 5 assists.

HOLLA!
Warriors 72, Pistons 59

No doubt this Warriors team is flawed, BUT if they were ever all healthy they'd be a playoff team in the West. It'll probably never happen, but those rare times when they're healthy just make you wonder.

by Atma Brother ONE on Mar 5, 2007 6:08 PM PST reply actions

I honestly believe...
If they can play these last 20 games without injury, they got that 8th spot.

by Athletix Man on Mar 5, 2007 6:28 PM PST reply actions

Nah, too early.
It's just Domestic Violence. He probably got booked and bailed. It's hard to say who's at fault when it's a home issue. I don't think it's really fair to discuss it at lengthy yet.

I know he has had problems in the past and he has been arrested for this before, but also so has his wife.

For sure.
Smart move on their behalf. They don't wanna look like they are endorsing domestic crime. I just think that because of who he is, it's national news. We both know it takes two to tango, especially at home.

BAM!
I was not right. I was just on the opposite side of the spectrum. I didn't think they should tank, but I could see why anyone would want them to. I'm an optimist, and after losing six straight, i could completely understand why people weren't optimistic. My dad has had a lot of knee problems, and he told me what Baron essentially got on his knee, and he knew it wouldn't take long for him to come back.

making these kinds of predictions every game from now on so the Warriors can just keep winning? :)
"Warriors by -8" and then win by 18.
"JRich struggles....." and then he scored a season-high 29 points.
"Pistons dominate the boards" and then we had Biendrins grabbing everything.
I don't know about the other 2 though.....
Anyway, go Warriors!
