Suns to play full strength tuesday?

Aussie Warrior linked Tim Kawakami's Warriors blog in the diary Warriors too good, move to 7th and face Suns instead?

I was reading the comments below his blog and the second comment was very interesting:

D'Antonio has already come out and said that he owes it to the other teams to play the game vs the clippers as a regular game

I mean, did he really say this? Can anyone find it somewhere? If this is even somewhat true, it would be UNBELIEVABLY good for us. I'm a little skeptical because this guy called him D'Antonio though. "D'Antonio" really has no reason to play his starters, except for his conscience ("owes it to the other teams?")

OR one plausible theory: he would love to avoid having to play the Mavs, and he feels that the Warriors have a better chance of beating the Mavs than the Clips? It's possible, right?

For one thing, most experts think the Suns will cruise through the first round no matter who ends up as the seventh seed, so it's not like playing his starters this game will jeopardize his playoff chances significantly. He'll most likely have time to rest his starters after they win the first round in 4 or 5 games and wait for other series to finish.

Man how am I going to wait for Tuesday.

I'm not
sure about that statement, but I do know Steve Nash doesn't think the Suns are clicking like they should be. So even if the game against the Clips means nothing to them they still could play their starters a lot of minutes so they can get their timing and such down. I'm not 100% positive on that either but it's what I heard on ESPN.

ESPN.com's Daily Dime
states that Mark Cuban said that the Mavs won't play all their guys against us. Sweet!

Dear Mr. D'Antoni
We love you. You are a fantastic coach. Your team is the most entertaining to watch in all of hoops. No, strike that -- all of sports. We understand that you must think first of what's right for your team, and if that means giving your starters all the rest they need, so be it. At the same time, in the spirit of competition, we urge you at least to put up a solid fight tomorrow against the Clippers.

Love,
Warriors Nation

P.S. Sleepy Freud would like to add that Amare and Nash in particular, awesome as they are, could use just a bit more "sharpening up" for the playoffs. The fact that they happen to be on his Fantasy Team has nothing to do with this opinion. Or so he says.

Even so
Even if the Suns don't play their starters the whole game I like their chances at home against the Clippers.

It'd be nice...
But I not too concerned if the Clips Win, we just have to make sure that the Dubs handle business w/ the Mavs. It'd be nice to have the Suns actually try as I think the Mav's have a grudge battle in mind for our game.

Hell, on the other hand, maybe we should print up Sleepy's post, print it up on some nice GSOM letterhead and mail it to the Suns front office? Might help?!? I'm down to chip in a nice fruit basket or something!

HE GOT IT!!!!!!!

well I mean
a Clips loss is as good as a Warriors win now that we're the only two teams competing for the spot.

i think so
the suns aren't going to want to disappoint their fans during their home finale

Cohan
Should offer to pay for the salaries of the Suns and Mavericks for Tuesday's games in exchange for controlling their minutes.

Nash? Your regular 36minutes please.
Amare...your footwork needs work. You're not coming out till ya get it right.

Nowitzki? You've given us an MVP year, hit the jacuzzi. Take Howard and Terry with ya.

I think
the suns will play their starters to get some real game practice if you will(gel more, tweak plays, etc) for about 60% of the game and let the bench guys get in the rest. I mean its the best time to get the bench guys real minutes. Clippers will be working hard all game to win. It won't be their usual garbage time. At least in my book it'll be a great time for them to evaluate guys who deals are coming up. if the clippers blow them out early, they'll probably take a seat. No need to over play your guys as the playoffs start on sunday.

there is some opinions about this
in ESPN's Daily dime here (written by warrior hater Jon Barry):
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dailydime-070416

He does say that according to Cuban, they will rest their key players against the W's.

i think youre right
for some reason i think the suns really want the warriors to play the mavericks, so they dont have to face the mavs themselves. its pretty smart in my opinion.

Ilamalimbo
You are right- the Suns want the Mavs to play the Warrriors. However, the Suns still have to beat their first round opponent (whoever that may be) and the second opponent (most probably San Antonio) before they will be in a position to play either the Mavs or the Warriors in the WCF.
