Steve Kerr shows GSW respect on National TV

I'm currently watching the Detroit/Orlando game and Steve Kerr was talking about how the Detroit Pistons are capable of scoring points off the fastbreak but "are no way a deadly fastbreak team like Phoenix or the Golden State Warriors."

It's nice to be mentioned in the same sentence as Phoenix (in the form of a compliment), rightfully so since Nellie has been doing the run'n'gun long before D'Antoni came along. But yes, r-e-s-p-e-c-t.

Steve Kerr and Marv Albert are my fav TNT commentator duo. They're not as great as Jim and Bob but quite possibly the next best thing.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

well
I really don't like Albert. his voice annoys me. Did you know he was convicted of child molestation (sexually) but fled to Isreal to avoid everything. After it all passed, he came back to become a commentator. true story, wikipedia'it.

Steve Kerr's real cool though.

wikipedia
just because you found something from there doesn't automatically make it true. anyone can edit it with whatever they want

hahaha thats true
I was on another the underground hip hop blog and they were talking about Sammy Sosa and his hobbies...it went along the lines of, "As a child Sosa loved to play the game of baseball and masturbate furiously" =X

Wikipedia says you are wrong
Marv Albert @ Wikipedia

I found no information on any child molestation or fleeing to Israel. He did, however, get charged with sexual assault on a grown woman and has since served his punishment long ago.

And I have to say for the record, based on my experience, that despite Wikipedia's open-ended nature, the people who maintain it put in a lot of work ensuring accuracy and confirming references.

Amazing
Biting a 42 year-old woman on the back in bed = sexually molesting a child.

The sad thing is, some random lurker could read that post, and then post it on his blog, and so on, and so on ... the internet can be a dangerous thing.

I'm sure Marv's no Saint, but who is? Biting a consenting adult doesn't really fall on my list of unforgivable offenses. Sexual habits and annoying voice aside, few would argue that Marv's one of the most knowledgeable and passionate hoops announcers going.

If anyone's interested, here's a great piece from the NYTimes Play Magazine on the time and effort he puts into his craft.

I heard
Steve Kerr say that about the Warriors to, it feels good to be mentioned in the same sentence as the Suns, but we already knew our Dubz were capable of great things. I'm glad they're finally getting some recognition.

I prefer Doug Collins over Steve Kerr
Top three national color guys (IMO):
  1. Hubie Brown
  2. Doug Collins
  3. Tom Tolbert (jk, kinda)
No one comes close to #'s 1 and 2, though.

WOW
it's nice to have someone else like Hubie Brown.  I learned A LOT from him, even from his commentating.  It's picking off a coach's brain.
