Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

What's more painful? This or That?

Okay, now we know that the Miami Heat isn't going to  be repeat champions. Sucks for them right? So what's more painful. Going to the finals but losing it to the Pistons when you have Shaq, Kobe, Payton, and Malone(Lakers)? OR Winning the championships then get knocked out in the first round(Heat)? But I think what's more painful is having your home team miss the playoffs for 13 straight years. But what's really exciting is to see a 13 year playoff drought end. =)

injuries
had a big part in both of them, if my memory serves me correctly, malone was battling injuries throughout that year, and wade with his shoulder. i think the lakers' situation sucked more, because pretty much everyone expected them to win it all. with miami this year, everyone was like, let's see what happens... wade got my respect this year because he tried to pull through for his team even if he wasn't close to 100 percent. i jut always had this thing against wade because so many people were trynna say he was the best in the NBA, which i strongly disagreed with.

Miami actually won the championship already
Considering their age and the fact that they just won the big prize, I didn't expect much from the Heat this year, though I did expect them to at least show some competitiveness against the Bulls. The Lakers, on the other hand, were pretty much destined to win it all after getting past the Spurs that year.

It always irks me to think about how things went down back then, since Detroit had a horrible on-court product despite its roster and I felt their victory was both a total fluke and detrimental to the sport, especially considering the only way they could beat Shaq's team two years in a row was to beat up the opponent and simply hold onto the ball forever instead of actually playing basketball.

Whoever marries the zeitgeist will be a widower soon.

I have no idea
why everyone expected the heat to be so good this year.  As soon as Wade went down their chances of repeating were over and done.  The Lakers situation was far more disappointing cause that team was amazingly talented.  The pistons were barely expected to win a game in that series, instead they completely dominated.

Injuries
Shaq was out almost half the season. Wade was never himself because of his injuries. It is to the credit of the Miami heat that they actually won their division this year. Come playoff time though the weakneses become magnified. It showed up against a healthy, young, hungry Chicago Bulls team.

What's more painful...
I'd say winning a championship and getting swept in the first round of a playoff series. After winning a championship, aren't you expected to make a convincing run to defend it? I know that injuries and free agency play big factors, but come on! You have a reputation at stake. Another bad scenario would be making the playoffs eight straight years without contending for the title (Kings). Just trying to make a playoff series is alright, but you want to at least improve upon last season. As for our Warriors, it was a hella good relief for us to be in the playoffs in 13 seasons. It was quite painful, but not as painful compared to the other two scenarios. Go Warriors!!!

winning a championship is always better
imagine if the dubs won one?  we could finish last place for 5 years in a row, and we'd still be celebrating ("take that mr. round mound of nothin!")
