Barkley by bashing the bay is an indirect compliment to how great the warriors fans are....

He's just a hoot. I laughed when he said that Dirk should post up against the "midgets" in Game 1, I laughed when he declared war before tonight's game, and I laughed when I saw him in the green Dirk jersey at halftime.

Oh, and of course I laughed when I saw his dejected face after the game.

that you are NOT in his "top five".  That's how serious I take what he says and Thermo is right on when he says Barkley is just comic relief.  Speaking of which, did anyone hear the TNT broadcast?  What did Reggie have to say?

I watched the game on FSN so I missed all of the Barkley noise but just finished watching all the TNT halftime/overtime video on nba.com and that was honestly the funniest stuff I've seen all year.  Go watch it.  Barkley's clowing it up now and admitting that the Warriors are fun to watch and tough.  

Chuck must've had a bad experience in the Bay, not to like Oakland and San Francisco...even Sausalito. With our fans, our relentless team, great end to the season pulling together our core, and the handling of the "best team" in the league...Barkley should have no reason to hate so much, the team and the fans, AND the city. Sure, maybe he has a thing for Dirk, and he's comedy relief, but I see some hurt in his eyes. He can give bad teams like the Fakers props, and say he's a fan of Sacto...who (sorry Kings fans) live in the middle of buttlove nowhere and sucked this year...

I think rookie year, or early in Barkley's career he was on a road trip with Philly out to the Bay to play the Dubz in the mid eighties, and this is how it played out....

Chuck posts an average night at the coliseum, maybe 17 points, 11 rebounds, 7 pounds gained and 4 assists, just shy of a triple double (or bypass)...so he showers (or maybe not), pounds a couple twinkies in the locker room and heads out for a night at a local pub. A cabbie shows him the local hot spots, so the "baddest man in the world" hops out and strolls for a bar fightin' night out in the heart of SF. He find a place, and downs a few dozen brews, and heads for the door to the tune of "It's Rainin' Men". But out of the corner of his eye he spots the most handsome woman, in shorts as form fitting as Chucks red Philly uni (oh, and a top as flattering as Chuck in his Mavs 41) who quickly notices the rotund rebounding rebel, and shoots him an airborn kiss. Barkley quickly makes his move. Now long story short, maybe as a Rookie from Alabama, you don't exactly know your way around other new cities, especially under the influence, so you can't differentiate between point A(shbury), B(erkeley), or C(astro). So hey, maybe he just woke up the next day realizing he had posted up the big man on the wrong side of the key, and now just doesn't like the Bay?

Still, that doesn't explain why he doesn't like Oaktown, SF and Sausalito...but at least we know he'd be fine with a stay at Alcatraz.
