JRich/Baron Update

JRich is in the clear for his flagrant on Okur. The league's not fining or suspending him. They're still investigating Baron's incident though. Man, if they suspend him, we're screwed.

NBA officials have decided to take no further action against Jason Richardson for his hard foul on Mehmet Okur in the final seconds of Sunday night's loss to the Jazz. league officials say they are still investigating the incident where Baron Davis delivered a blow to the head of Derek Fisher

if Baron gets suspended
it will be because Derek Fisher sold it like a box office movie. Players get bumped harder than that driving to the rim. Someone get a lead role for Derek Fisher in a hollywood film!

No hate for Fisher
Even if Fisher flopped, I still have a lot of respect for him. He was a former Warrior that never quit in any game.

Okur is stupid for trying to dunk in our house with no time left. Of course someone is going to get mad or feel like they're being disrespected if you're gonna dunk the ball while up 12 already.

If Baron gets suspended,
I wouldn't be surprised at all.  You never know what the league is going to do.  Baron has been suspended for less contact.  Didn't Baron get a one game suspension earlier in the season when he swiped at someone nearby and got nothing but air?

well
if the league suspends Baron, they better be suspending Bruce Bowen for like... the rest of the playoffs. The kick to Amare's heel and the knee to Nash's manly parts? If Bowen tried that stuff at the park he would get F'ed up. But yeah, the league is so wishy-washy with their punishments, and yeah Baron got suspended for taking a frustration swipe (that got nothing but air) at Quentin Ross during the season. So... our fate is in the hands of the league, I just hope they don't get too crazy with their punishments.

i hope he doesnt get suspsended
its the freaking playoffs! How are you going to do that?  I even saw Baron pat d fish to make sure he was cool, I don't think there was any intention to hurt the guy anyway.

yeah
Baron was just trying to clear space because Derek Fisher was totally up in his face the entire game (nothing wrong with that, it's an effective defensive technique)Baron wasn't trying to send Derek to the hospital or anything.

Two Reasons Why Not...
  1. Flop.
  2. Bruce Bowen, I mean come on. (really though)

What about Jason Terry?
I still can't believe he didn't get suspended for his pile drive of BD in the Mavs series. The NBA doesn't seem consistent at all about handing out suspensions.

Consistency
is not in the NBA front office's vocabulary.  It pretty much just seems to boil down to whether or not Stu Jackson (who handles such affairs) got some from the old lady last night.  He's seriously all over the place about this kind of stuff.

To me, it would seem that Richardson not getting a suspension should be a good sign.

True...
But good news: Bowen was not suspended or fined for his "incident" with Nash.  I think given that and Terry, plus the facts that Fisher flopped a little, said he had no hard feelings towards Baron, and that Baron went up to Fish and patted him while he was lying down, the league hopefully won't take any action.

by bradyk2 on May 14, 2007 1:20 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

yeah I just
read about Bowen not getting suspended for his blatant kneeing to Nash's manly parts. If Baron gets suspended... this sh*t is rigged! Robbery of the highest degree if Baron gets suspended.

one thing to add...
If the league decides to do something/nothing, I really hope they decide it today. How much of a psyche-crusher would it be if, heaven forbid, they suspend Baron right before the game?

by Caught Backcourt on May 14, 2007 3:48 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

also though...
I think they also can go back an assess Davis a technical/flagrant on that play.

by gswarriors2006 on May 14, 2007 4:36 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

yea
if they suspend baron and not bowen.. you know somethin is up. i mean.. independent of the whole baron situation.. how can you NOT suspend someone for intentionlly kneeing another players groin.. c'mon.. bowen is dirty, and fisher flopped

anyone listen to 1140 kings station
They had the jazz announcer on. first off it got really annoying how he kept acting like he was actually part of the team. But he said we are trying to protest richardson and davis fouls to get them suspended, along those lines.
