Homer Jazz Post about Game 4

I was very upset about reading this demonstrative post that totally demonizes Al, Jrich, and Baron regarding what happened last night. I can't stand for Homer-ism to this degree, this writer could easily (and probably has) influence and mislead readers, who might not know that much about the game, into thinking the Warriors are a bunch of "thugs" when they are not. If you would all just read the post, and then reflect.

http://www.utahjazzblog.net/2007/05/13/jazz-look-to-eat-warriors-hearts/

There are so many things wrong with that post, I tried to comment several times but the site wouldn't let me, so here I am trying to make a difference on our site.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

I understand the need
to defend your team as a fan.... but COME ON!!!

I've been saying all along
that the Jazz blogs were full of homers.  This is about as surprising as finding penguins at the south pole.  And who do you think reads that blog... that's right... other Jazz homers.

No fan can be completely objective about their team, especially when their team is the only game in town.

This seems like a silly thing to get worked up about.

I know its not worth the effort
to complain about.... but it doesn't take much for the masses to be easily brainwashed into changing the way culture is or influenced into changing the way society thinks. I just worry about the readers that visit that site that are new to the sport and are in search of knowledgeable insight that has depth. That writer's post is one step back from furthering the growth and development of the NBA and its culture.

agreed
i was glad to see a post has already been made about this.  i can't stand reading their lame posts (i'm so glad we have a legit team blog we can be proud of in GSoM)... they sound like a bunch of ninth graders that have crushes the big senior starters.  c'mon jazz fans, get some real basketball fans that know what they're talking about to take that pathetic blog over...

I love the Warriors
but they haven't been the classest team thoughout the playoffs by a longshot

talk about crybabies
all I've heard since this series has begun is how scrawny and weak the Warriors look against the buffed muscles-upon-muscles Utah Jazz.  Then when it gets a little physical, all the crybabies can do is scream "suspend! suspend!"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but did Davis even get a personal foul for the Fisher incident???

I didn't see the game live - I was on a plane going back east.  When I first got to nba.com and read the comments about Davis' "gross misconduct," I thought Fisher had been left paralyzed from the neck down or something.  Then I learn that after laying on the floor for awhile (probably thinking "if I lay here just a little longer, I might be able to work it into his 5th technical foul") he gets up and REJOINS THE GAME??  Yea man, he sure was hurt real bad.

With Richardson, all I see is someone going for a dunk and the opposing player going for the block.  Sometimes it gets ugly - that's the way of the game.

Let Homer whoever-he-is blow off his steam.  Frankly, it only makes the Jazz look more like the Azz anyway.

they are obviously basketball idiots
i was there and clearly saw it live, but even the highlight replay angles show that jrich did not clothesline and okur has already been quoted as saying he overreacted. this blogger is very irresponsible and i guess that is why we dont see him posting in the many places our own gsom team is invited to post.

fisher was also quoted immediately after the game saying that he did not believe baron intentionally hit him or was trying to hurt him.

by stedanko on May 14, 2007 3:14 PM PDT reply actions

Yes
Jrich did not try to clothesline Okur, but he was not trying block Okur's shot, or trying to foul to help his team win either, and this foul could easily have injured Okur.  Yes Some Utah fans overreacted, but all fans do that, including many fans I have seen post on GSOM.  Would you complain about this reaction if the roles were reversed and it came from a G-State fan.  There have been many situations like this, and I have never seen anyone on this site complain about similar statements in favor of the Dubs.
In response to ALX8725's claim that the Jazzblog post is a step backwards for NBA culture, I believe that NBA games with no fouls that could easily lead to injuries and with no fouls not intended to help a team win, would be a step forward, not a step back.  I know this seems like a lot to hope for right now, but human beings can make great changes, and whether we can do this or not this is at least what we should be trying to take steps toward.  The Jazzblog post is only negative if a reader imagines that fouls like these ones are not committed by all teams, (or at least by most teams), and imagines that the Dubs are more violent than other teams because of these fouls.  Still we would be better off without them.

Then stop reading that crap!  Why care what they think? All that matters is what we think about our guys and we know our boys are sweethearts!
Show some compassion for those poor Jazz fans, how'd you like to live in that hellhole?

seriously...they live in SALT LAKE CITY UTAH. i dont even need to come up with a diss because its implicit

by jrizzle on May 14, 2007 5:26 PM PDT reply actions

You don't know their personal circumstances.
Maybe right now SLC is the best place for them to be,  (it is better in some ways you know).  It is also very likely that many SLC residents just don't know what the Bay Area is like and don't know that places like the Bay exist, and for that reason have never even considered moving there.

over fisher
i just didnt like how the utahjazzblog kept bringing Fisher's personal life into the game when discussing Baron's elbowing accident...saying how Fisher's already having a "rough couple of weeks" and "kicking a guy when he is down" wasnt necessary for Baron to do. I know were all being considerate about Fisher's life, but come on, it's BASKETBALL. There was no need to bring Fisher's personal problems into the discussion of the game.

Read it too...
...the first guy to reply to the blog post says that when Davis dunked on Kirilenko, the Jazz didn't get all "jungle ball." Little racist much?

by Tognotti on May 14, 2007 6:34 PM PDT reply actions

Jungle Ball
is an expression for a game where the rules are not really being considered.  Physical, unstructured, and very nearly out of control.

Race has nothing to do with it.

You're just looking for stuff to be offended by now.

what do u expect
i remember watching game 1...all the fans were white...all wore polo or dress shirts...and the all had them tucked in...it was a little...creepy...i guess would be the right word...basically my first impression on most jazz fans is that they're politcally incorrect morons, who know nothing about basketball or players emotions...the crowd seems like a bunch of zombies...what ever they hear, they must beleive...i would hate to live there

It's close to hilarious
that you guys are getting so bent over another team blog.

I'm going to reiterate one point from my other post: THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT READ JAZZ BLOGS ARE JAZZ HOMERS.

it doesn't take much for the masses to be easily brainwashed into changing the way culture is or influenced into changing the way society thinks. I just worry about the readers that visit that site that are new to the sport and are in search of knowledgeable insight that has depth.

Anybody who thinks they're going to gleen objective insight from any team blog (GSoM included) is already on the wrong road.

It's interesting that concern for cultural attitudes and political correctness are expressed in the same thread as seething contempt for a place and people you know little or nothing about.

Give this a quick read

knowledgeable, insightful, in-depth is not the same as gleen objective insight. If I was concerned about "gleen objective insight" I would have said so. Are you trying to attack the integrity of our blog??

No disrespect intended
Your post expressed concern about how a new fan may be swayed by the bias in the Jazz blog.  Naturally, I assumed "knowledgeable, insightful, and in-depth" meant pertaining to basketball and the make up of the game.  I should have realized that you actually meant "seeing it my way".  Admittedly, you did not use the word "objective".  My bad.

quite the fiesty fellow aren't you. you're obviously just looking for someone to pick a fight with. I don't even get what you're being so defensive about? You're mad because of comments I made about a blog that you don't like because for reasons you stated? What's with Jazz fans and their need to defend their team to the death as if they are down 1-3 when they are actually up 3-1.

Dear AXL8725,
  1. I'm not mad.  I respect your right to hold your own opinion.
  2.  I obviously won't change your mind, and you certainly won't change mine (especially since we seem to have a hard time communicating - you take everything I say out of context, and apparently I do the same to you.)  So I'll go ahead and be the one to drop this futile exchange.
  3.  Good luck to your Warriors tonight.

Only futile to you shadowcat, you're forgetting what that great philosopher junior sample said " If you go wrestin pigs all you get is dirty while the pigs enjoy it" (or something mumbled along those lines)  Here's looking forward to game 5 settin the stage for another game at Oaktown, we wanna wear these Jass down to the bone if we do let them advance.

    Obviously you haven't read baumerworld?
I don't know or care what the jazz homers are sayin but I'm curious why they'd diss "jungle ball" when most of their players are black too? Is this a case of my blacks are better behaved than your blacks? BTW Utah, If you wanna get whiter we'll trade you Dris and cabbages for boozer and D-Ron!

As far as jungleball goes, I already commented on that.  Feel free to read the whole thread before you go making a bunch of assupmtions about my position.
