Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

It's the Offseason, but GSoM's Still ON!

Without a question these past several months have been the most happening time for this mighty community. It's been a wonderful ride, but the ride is far from over here at GSoM. As the old timers at this community can attest, summer is the time when GSoM gets even hotter.

A few of the many things on tap now that the Warriors' great season has come to a close:

  • 2007 NBA Playoff Coverage: Just because the Warriors are out of it doesn't mean that the GSoM playoff coverage is over. There's still a lot of action going on in the NBA and it should continue to be fun-- presuming we don't have an unwatchable Spurs-Jazz Western Conference Finals or a painfully boring Spurs-Pistons NBA Finals.

  • 2006-2007 Golden State Warriors Report Cards: Last season's report cards generated quite a lot of great discussion. We're working hard on getting those up soon.

  • 2007 NBA Draft: In addition to the usual mock drafts and draft analysis and history, we'll be live blogging the festivities for the 3rd straight year. The NBA Draft- it's a great time out!

  • Summer Free Agency and Trades: If you think this summer is going to be boring for the Warriors, then you probably don't have a pulse. There's contracts to worry about (Matt Barnes, Mickael Pietrus, and Andris Biedrins), players that will most likely be moved (Sarunas Jasikevicius and Adonal Foyle), free agents to pursue, and all-world NBA talent on the trading block (FREE KG!). Let's not forget all those crazy rumors either.

  • Summer Fashion: The GSoM community decides on what's HOT or NOT for the summer trends.

Why not have weekly recaps for baseball and football as they come to fruition. Rep the entire Bay Sport Scene!

Just wanted to let y'all know
This was my first year covering the Warriors full-time and I'll be dropping whatever I hear that I can verify. Expect details about the players the Warriors are working out and I hope I can drop some knowledge on the team's plans. Me and some of the players will be in contact throughout the summer, so I'll hopefully drop some articles on what they're doing and working on. ONE DUB! (see? I've embraced it!)

I Got 5 on It (Baron Davis Remix)
Fearthebeard.org-produced a remix of the all-time Bay Area hip-hop classic, "I Got 5 on It"--check it out here:

Unfortunately, the Jazz won before we could get it to market, but bump it anyway! Right click to download.

Guys
Remove the NFL link from the banner LOL. That's long over.

DEFINATELY don't go away from GSoM in the Summer. I am an "Old Timer" ahem and the GSoM Crew definately keep the stream of articles constantly coming. 2 or 3 a day, as I remember it. Good times are ahead!

GSoM's NFL Section
You're right, even though it was pretty popular and fun it was canceled when the Warriors season' got started because we just didn't have the time to give it our 110%.

The good news is that I actually think we can bring it back for this upcoming NFL season with Ballhype's Game picks.
http://ballhype.com/scoreboard/

It'll make it 100x easier for us to keep track of the results and leaderboard.

Yup, the 2-3 GSoM posts per day during last summer were fun. When everyone else is on vacation we're talking hoops here 24-7. I love it.

Ballhype is an excellent idea.

Team Needs
My perfect offseason . . .

Let Pietrus go . . . Resign Matt Barnes . . . Cut Adonal Foyle (no one will actually take him off our hands at 8 mill a year) . . . Draft a guy like Paul Milsap . . . Sign a Kurt Thomas type player with a Mid-Level exception . . .

Keys for next season . . .

Play Baron Davis 26-28 mins a game. Give Monta big time minutes and develop him as a point guard. Learn how to rebound and shoot foul shots.

Webber
Chris Webber is a free agent this summer. Think he'd like to come back to Golden State for a mid-level exception to finish out his carrer? Maybe him and Nellie could make up.

Have a Contest
See who can come closest (or exactly) to determining which current Warriors will be on the roster at the beginning of next season.  To make it even more interesting, make first and second round draft selections a bonus.  Regardless, I'll stay tuned and still believing.....

i know i'm going to get grilled for this...
...but i honestly think we should trade either jrich or monta this offseason in order to get a 4 who can run with our squad (kg?  jermaine oneil?  marion?).  if we trade jrich, let's draft arron afflalo (ucla pride bleeding out a little too hard).  if we trade monta, we should pick up acie law THE FOURTH (did anyone see that game against texas!?).

afflalo has jrich's heart minus the dunks plus the defense.  and acie law is just gangster.  otherwise, keep all of our 8-man playoff roster and draft another person in the same mold to make a 9-man team.  it's a fairly deep draft anyways, so please don't grab another project.
