Need Role Player i.e. Nazr Mohammed

When the Warriors made a disappointing exit after game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals, most fans, including myself, realized that the Warriors needed another big man out there. While many of you are suggesting big name players such as KG, let me remind you that big name players also come with big contracts. They also involve trading away some of our core players. Remember the great team chemistry that the Warriors have right now. I believe that we are just one or two pieces shy of being a contender. All of this said, we need good role players at this point. One of them could be Nazr Mohammed of the Pistons. He brings better post defense, shot blocking, rebounding, and championship experience. He's a good shooter for his size and also has good mobility for his size. Another plus is that he is basically rotting away on the piston's bench, so he could be had easily and for cheap. Maybe a simple Pietrus sign and trade would do the trick. If not Mohammed, then possibly Antonio McDyess, another great Pistons bench player. Let me know what you think.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Yeah, but since when is Nazr Mohammed a role player?

Nazr
was pretty upset at the beginning of the season because he wasn't getting the playing time he was expecting to be getting.... yeah we can definately use his physical talent but his attitude might be a whole different issue. He has a pretty hefty long term contract too... but hey, if the Warriors can clear up Foyle's monstrous contract... there will plenty of room for plenty of players!

hmmm also
it makes me wonder why Flip Saunders doesn't use Nazr that much... if at all actually. The pecking order is McDyess then Maxiell. Nazr isn't even in the picture for coming off the bench.... there's got to be a reason why Nazr is always riding the bench right? Especially in the playoffs... he's gotten like... no playing time whatsoever....

no nazr...
he got benched in detroit cuz he couldn't stay out of foul trouble.  plus, we need a "big man" who can run with us, nazr is not a running big man.  i don't see much of a dropoff between adonal and nazr

Nazr...
If you want Nazr, then you're gonna bring back a Dampier into the roster.  Lazy, slow, and he probably can't catch the ball to save his life. Therefore he woudln't fit our style of play.  Also, he's not cheap either, he's gives Damp's salary a run for his money, and it's not that much less than Foyle's contract.  Might as well spend that money to resign Andris.

Whatever happened to Zarko?
He could run, hit treys, hussle for boards and was pretty fast and agile?

what about
spencer hawes through the draft hes got a longer range than most big guys which fits our style of play and he can take it down low and hit free throws.

If Hawes is still available, I'd say go for it....
a big man who has great hands, pretty good passing, and moves in the paint.

pretty amazing Paul Milsap went...
...38 spots aftern Patrick O'bryant.  and Marcus Williams or Jordan Farmar wouldn't have made good back-up point guards for Baron this year?  man, Chris Taft, WTF?  God willing, Nellie's presence in this year's draft war room will insure a tad better scouting.

yeah
sure wouldn't mind having Milsap...i was really impressed with his play but that is obvious to all W's fans now.

Herbert Hill - stretch at #18?
Looks like Hill from Providence has size, and can rebound & block shots. May still be there are #18, probably not #36.
see:http://insider.espn.go.com/nbadraft/draft/tracker/player?playerId=19105&draftyear=2007

Herbert Hill
Power Forward (Rank: #32) | 6-10, 240 | Age: 22

Draft Projection: Late first to early second

Positives: Has good size, body and athleticism for his position. ... Has developed into a consistent rebounder and is an excellent shot blocker. Good ballhandler for his size. Plays with excellent energy.

Negatives: ... His...production his first three years in the league certainly didn't scream NBA player. ...

Summary: Hill has quietly developed into one of this year's sleepers... under consideration as a late first round pick.

tyrus thomas
that is a great player for us. there is no point in drafting another big guy because we still have a 7 footer named Patrick Obryant. Hopefully he will have a break out season next year like Biendrins.

Ty Thomas
Is a great player ... for Chicago.

Don't hold your breath on POB becoming the next Biedrins.

Just because we made a mistake with POB doesn't mean we can never draft a big man again. Sometimes you gotta throw a bunch of stuff against a wall and see what sticks. Tiago Splitter right now has ten times the skills of Patrick O'Bryant.

IN DEFENSE OF CHRIS TAFT
I don't know how many of you guys actually saw TAFT play when he wasn't injured, but he hustled!  He was big and could grab boards, but unfortunately, he had injury issues!  So you can't count that against MULLIN for drafting him at like #21 or something.

And from I recall, ZARKO actually didn't rebound too well for being 6'11".  He could hit the 3's when he had the confidence, but after being injured so often he lost it!

I don't see MOHAMMED as being the kind of "big man" we need to improve our defense and rebounding.  Might as well get TRACTOR TRAYLOR!  Actually, I thought there was a chance to get SWEETNEY, but that could have been just one of the numerous rumors out there last year!

dude
i liked chris taft... sheer, quiet hustle.. i heard ike diogu destroyed him in workouts though.. too bad a bad back and other injuries ended his "nba career".. btw, taft was drafted like at 40 something not too far from monta
That pass was magic johnson-esque
