NBA 2K8 OR NBA LIVE 2008?

I've bought the 2k series for 3 years straight. 2k sports seems to make the games just more realistic and interesting. NBA live gets more hype and all, but really its not a better game. Thats my opinion. Whats yours? Do you think Live has the players a little stick figury? Or do you like the All Star weekend features on Live? Lets talk about next years best Basketball game on the market.

I can tell you Im buying NBA 2k8 for 360 when its out!

i really don't see

how people would even consider Live as the better basketball game. i guess EA casts a spell on some people...

As a longtime Live fan (up to Live 06)

I'm getting 2k8. 2k7 > Live 07, and 2k8 will probably be better than Live 08.

No Contest

NBA 2K8. I actually saw Live 2007 on the 360... and I was amazed about how much animation they put in their menus, in a bad way. Instead of working on the actual gameplay, EA candy coats the game with useless junk. Hell, even their arcade style of the game makes it unbearable to play. All-Star weekend? 3 point contest is pretty worthless, and the dunk contest isn't all that great. The only think really Live's got on the 2k series are the in game dunks... but I rather have good game player than fancy dunks.
The NBA06, 07 game is even worse than Live...

you have to get that for sure. live is so horrible only thing good for it is that all star. but 2k8 makes me feel like im playing the game. im sad they took out fitz out of there for the past couple years, but yeah 2k8 for sure. and actually all the 2k series were better to me except 2k3 that was just a horrible dibacle that kept breaking.

2k series

have been better then Live... Live hasnt been good since the Genisis Days of Bulls Vs Lakers (early EA days). I bought a PS3 but dont have any games so this summer when NCAA and MADDEN come out, that will be the end of my 360 days until Halo 3 is out. Im excited to see these sports games come out for the PS3. Has anyone played any good sports titles on the PS3?

Ya I bought NCAA Hoops 2K7 (the one with Reddick on the cover), that game is solid. Really fun to play, sweet animations, gorgeous graphics, and solid gameplay.

I tear it up as Texas A&M, Acie Law is nasty in that game!

Anyways...definitely getting 2K8, better game, more realistic, more fun...etc etc.

Last year EA put out some whack a** screenshots for Live 2007 and the game didn't look ANYTHING like them.

2K Fan..

since dreamcast and not going to change anytime soon. Live has been virtualy unplayable for years now. There was three or four years that they didn't even have a useable camera angle. I will go with 2K8 for 360.

I've had NBA 2k battles and tornaments at my house for years... since the dreamcast days yo'. My friends and I have always had a knack for creating our own plays and strategy's night after night tryin' 2 out do each other on the court with different teams and play styles. I think it was the Jason Kidd cover of Live 04 I finally jumped on and realized how simplistic the game was, where as my friends and I had certain plays we comitted to in beating one another on the 2k series. I was the oddball of the group since I started playing both (I was 80% 2k and 20% live) last year I was invited to my 1st NBA live Tournament at the homies house... it was weird... all it was for 5 hours straight was dudes dunking at each other back and fourth, I remember seeing J-Rich's stats in a number of games averaging 73 points... when I stepped to plate I was forced to run and gun too because the guys didn't even play defense... They'd say "Go ahead kid, shoot it! I'll get the next dunk!" by the end of the game peeps were winning by 2-3 dunks, tops. I prefer 2k simply because it's strategy too- I've had peeps beat me with the spurs so bad or use Phoenix and beat me with their up-tempo style. Live is all dunks and glamour... expect to see Foyle with 33 points (12 of them from the 3 point line!)

Live has been on a downward slope

ever since 2000. Look at 97,98,99,2000 though, those games were the BOMB!

Eventually stuff happened and it went down the tubes when retooling for the Dreamcast/GCube/X-Box/PS2 Generation.

So, 2K came along and I realized how awesome it is!

But you can still go crazy with one player and cheese. Don't even get me started on how Dubz used Baron Davis....

Honestly LOL...

My somewhat middle aged Gangsta' friends who peddle and hustle down my old neighborhood all play NBA Live... Everybody blazes up, drinks hard liquor and go at it (and cussin') with Live... While my College Buddies who are American Eagle, Old Navy wearin' Guacamole Pizza eatin and SMirnoff ice drinkin' homies play NBA 2k... I don't know where I fit myself because I play both... I think i'm the only guy who wears a Warriors Jersey with tanned Rockport loafers, lol.
