Janny Hu - Why I love the Warriors

Janny Hu hit it on the nose ... on why I and a ton of others love the Warriors. Read her article:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/05/06/SPG30PM5ID1.DTL

It's fun to root for a team that really cares about each other and there aren't any big ego's. All trying to win for each other and playing a true team ball!!

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

The team chemistry did a complete 180 when Jax and TMNT came over. You didn't see all the smiling and dancing when Murphleavy were here. At the risk of sounding totally sentimental, the Dubs probably have the best chemistry in all of the NBA right now.

Agreed
You can see it in all of them. Even the guys on the bench stand up most of the game rooting their team on.

who else
would love to see the warriors play in The City jerseys to bring back memories of their championship teams in the 70's? That'd be awesome. Plus i think they look better anyway. Go Dubz.
Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league. Purgatory is thy home.

Hell no
They look horrible. This is a new era, plus the current threads look so much better.

You kidding me?
The City jerseys are probably the greatest of all time. Why do you think all those "We Believe" shirts were in yellow?
I would love to see the Warriors pull those out next home game.

by YaoButtaMing on May 6, 2007 2:15 PM PDT up reply actions

Eww
The City jerseys were good for their time, but have not aged well at all. Maybe if there was an update to the design to make it look better...

And the yellow just doesn't look right in such a mass amount. Are we trying to be the Lakers now?

wow
the city jerseys are classics...i'd like to see those become their permanent jerseys

by nfisch88 on May 6, 2007 2:23 PM PDT up reply actions

Eww
The only thing permanent with those jerseys should be locked up in a museum or storage. They're horribly outdated if anything.

Now the early 90's uniforms...those were real classic. If the silly retro thing must be done, we should go with those instead. But as I said, this is a new era and we should focus on now and the future.

I think
they look butt-ugly also.

Although, I musch prefer the late 90s unis to the early 90s ones.

Zorgon's world
The City unis: Butt ugly
Thunder, the overgrown smurf on steroids: cool
Adonal Foyle: The best player on the Warriors
Patrick O'Bryant: The second best "

Ah yes, to be 16 again...

It's all good though. Zorg and JTriumf, you guys are part of what I love this place. Golden State of Mind, Safety Orange State of Mind, Midnight Blue State of Mind ... Call it what you want, whatever mojo we've got going on this site seems to be working like a charm...

And I'd looove to see some of Sleepy Freuds opinions at 16.....

From the 60's
The City unis are from the 60's. In 75 they wore yellow unis, but they were the ones that had a circle with the state of California on with a star where the Bay Area is. Plus it said Golden State in an arch above the circle.

by Psion on May 7, 2007 10:56 AM PDT up reply actions

I'd love to say it's because of that
but we all know the true reason I'm still here is because Adonal is still on the team.

It's completely true....
One way you can tell is the excitement from Sarunas Jasikevicus on the bench.

That may sound weird, but SJask gets no playing time, and will almost for sure be wearing a different jersey next season, yet he's still pumped up.

by bradyk2 on May 6, 2007 12:04 PM PDT reply actions

Yeah its crazy how he's the
Ronny Turiaf of the Warriors bench brigade.

The other guys who are awaiting some PT aren't as jumpy on the bench like a Powell, unless the game's already decided and its a laugher.

A sea of yellow isn't what the Lakers did this year though right? I can't remember, they were out like clockwork.

Would a sea of Golden Gate Orange (t-shirt equipped fans) have been better? Navy would have looked more like empty seats, yellow/gold was in your face all bright and blinding.

by back2back51s on May 6, 2007 9:03 PM PDT up reply actions

Plus
The lakers stole our colors. We wore yellow at home before they did. Now they drop the purple for our old school blue. Fakers want to look like the Warriors of the 60's and 70's

this very important point came to me...
...halfway through the Mavs series.  even the games the Mavs won, you never saw one of them smile.  it's all business over there and they paid for it bigtime.  i've had bosses before who thought the way to make us more productive was to ride us and discipline us.  NOBODY went above and beyond for those guys.  the guys who let us relax and feel needed, those guys got the most out of us.  you can find Baron, Jax, Matt, Harrington, et. al. smiling after a great defensive possession that turns into fast points on the other end, or a shot clock violation by the opponents.  we don't wait 'til the game's over and we've got the assurance of the results to enjoy it, we're enjoying it all along the way, and that's the difference between us right now and EVERYONE else left in the playoffs.  we'll have this advantage against everyone.

yea! now that you point that out
I've never heard a player say that he LOVES thier coach, most only respect the coach...on the other hand you got guys looking at Nellie as the father figure they would die for this man..."I don't like no coach but I love this man"...The team chemistry by itself is already and advantage not to mention the home crowd in Oakland!!! Personally I know what it feels like to go from a free flowing, everyone is busting thier ass enviornment as opposed to a disciplined enviornment with a million rules...In those enviornments it seem to let only the upperlevel management succeed and this brings controlled success, granted that's OK but not everyone is going to feel loyal to thier job and loyalty has to be the most important factor in whether or not someone chooses to bust thier ass or not...From the Dubs you can expect anything out of anyone at anytime, but from the other teams you know whos doing what, when and how...

it's the honeymoon...
as a married person, i must admit, the honeymoon is nice.  there will be bumps at some point, probably having more to do with personal issues (alcoholism, uncontrolable tempers, contract disputes), but we won't worry about that now.

the esprit de corps is amazing, and i hope we can ride it through the playoffs, through the summer, through next year and beyond!

by OaktownWarrior on May 6, 2007 4:02 PM PDT up reply actions

Totally Agree
I was thinking this same exact thing but couldn't put it into words.  Nice work 321.  To See Sarunas dancing on the sideline like a little kid on Christmas Morning is great and speaks volumes to the TEAM we have.  Have you noticed all of these guys constantly talk about "TEAM"?  And they don't just say it in some B.S. fashion.  You can tell they mean it.

Good time B-ball
I'm a Jazz fan, but win or lose I love watching the Warriors play.  They make the game exciting and look like they actually enjoy what they're doing (in stark contrast to bitchers like Dirk No-win-ski.)
Nellie is a genius.  Let the boys play.

Great one!!
That was a fantastic read. As if I didn't already love those guys immensely, now even more so. Also, props to Jazz fan above me for comin' in here with respect. It'll be a hell of a series. Soooo excited for gametime tonight!!
