The W Column: Sneak Peek: Warriors vs Jazz

In this edition of The W Column I'll give you a Sneak Peek: Warriors vs Jazz on FSN Bay Area. I write about the 3 major factors in the series, how the Warriors need to play D, offense, and home court advantage.

I gave you my prediction (Warriors in 6 because of defense), what's your prediction for the series and what do the Warriors need to do to win?

I agree about D.
I agree that defense will be the key to the dubs victory.  Where we differ is that I think it will come more quickly than you do, (I pick the G-State in 4, instead of 6.)  - They just beat the best RS team in the league in 6, It should take them less time to beat the team that is probably the 5th or 6th best RS team in the league, and that won 17 fewer games in the RS.

This year's Dubs defense
This G-state defense reninds me of the defenses of the late 90s Bulls in that this defense, like those ones, can usually force a turnover when it needs to.  In the last series the primary reason The mavericks scored so little was that turnovers kept their number of scoring attempts low.

Series Prediction -- Warriors in 6.
Game 1: Warriors
The Jazz are coming off an emotional Game 7 win, but the Warriors are well rested and unstoppable baby!

Game 2: Jazz
The Jazz will pound it inside and take this one pretty convincingly.

Game 3: Warriors
It's 20,600+ vs 5. We got this!

Game 4: Warriors
It's 20,600+ vs 5. We got this!

Game 5: Jazz
The Jazz will win a close one.

Game 6: Warriors
It's 20,600+ vs 5. We got this!

Keys to the series:

  • Steady outside shooting and penetration by BD, Jax, and JR
  • 3pt shooting from Al Harrington
  • Drives and finishes from Monta
  • Deny every entry pass to Boozer. Once he gets the ball down low, the Warriors are pretty much toast.
  • Force the ball out of Deron Williams' hands and into Fish's. Fish makes poor decisions with the ball and is always looking to try to go Kobe (which he can't). The more fast breaks Fish tries to run the less points the Warriors will give up.
  • Biedrins is going to need to control the boards this entire series. If he picks up silly fouls, the Warriors are in big trouble.
  • Beat the Jazz in the transition game big time.
  • Run
  • Run
  • And Run
