Jazz in Seven

Sports Illustrated: Breakdown

This guy likes the Jazz in seven.  Makes sense.  I think one could make any prediction and have it sound plausible.  Er..maybe a sweep by either team isn't too likely.

Is it 9:30 CST yet?

that's going to play a huge role in this series. it will be much more difficult to steal a win in utah than it was in dallas.

Don't put too much stock in "experts"
The rocket scientists (pardon the weak pun) over at ESPN picked both the Mavs and the Rockets to advance out of the first round.  Both the Warriors and the Jazz stepped up to the plate and proved the pundits wrong.

I don't believe either team has a definitive advantage.  It'll be a fun series.

oh
Don't come here trying to sway anyones opinion because obviously you aren't going to. Also it'd be nice if you didn't interject the same opinion in to every thread. Thanks.

Don't mind Coma
He seems to only have half of a bed, and the half that he has is the wrong side. Therefore, he gets up on the wrong side of the bed EVERY MORNING. A truely tragic circumstance.

In other words: Don't mind him. Post it however many times you feel nessessary.

With his past behind him, Adonal looks toward the future, wherever it may be....

What did I even say mean? Honestly. You're out of line.

Zorgon/Fredo Corleone
Have you seen The Godfather Part 2 in your young life? If not, here's a classic Michael Corleone line to keep in mind: "Never take sides with anyone against the family again, ever..."

Shadowboy seems like a cool enough dude -- unlike the supposedly "respectful" Mavs fans who were all here to rub our faces in what they expected to be a Mavs cakewalk. But jeez, let the guy prove his posting mettle before jumping in on his behalf and stabbing our own Coma in the back.

And Shadowboy, really, don't feel obligated to post the same stuff "however many times you feel necessary." There's a weak enough signal-to-noise ratio on this site to begin with. Coma, aka the GSoM diary police, almost never gives people crap for posting unpopular opinions ("Jazz in Seven," for example) but if you post stuff that's obvious, inane, or redundant, he can be pretty merciless.

One thing I can't figure: does being a Jazz fan mean you were rooting against Jordan's Bulls in those classic finals matchups? That's just bizarro world. Which of your three mommies told you you stood a chance against Michael Jordan...?

Just funnin'with you. Welcome aboard. And to get this discussion out of the meta-realm, here's a hoops question: much has been made of the Jazz' mismatches in the frontcourt (Boozer, partcularly) but how do you expect to defend five dynamic super-athletic guards (Baron, Monta, Jax, JRich, Pietrus) with only one (Deron Williams)? Honestly, the words "Derek Fisher" are one of the few things that give me some confidence about this series.

My guess: the play of Monta Ellis will be the key. If he looks as lost as he did v. Dallas, it could be a rough series for us. If he really shines ... look out.

I didn't think it was mean.
Maybe a little uncalled for, but not mean.

The author of this thread cited an article that was pro-Jazz.

All I said was that the media guys don't know much, based on their track record.  A pro-Warrior comment, really.

I'm only here because I really dig this series.  I love my Jazz, but I also really like watching GS play.  It's unfortunate, to me, that one of these teams will have to leave the playoffs when this series is over.

And GSoM is a far more interesting place to hang than the blah, blah, blah Jazz blog sites.  A bunch of zombies over there, I tell you.

old Jazz logo
love that old logo on your sig, shadow...I remember when the Jazz couldn't seem to make up their mind whether they wanted their primary color to be purple or green. Kinda like the schizophrenia the Arizona Diamondbacks' unis went through until this year.

Thanks yohan
I'm okay with the current jazz look, but there was a stretch from the mid 90s to just recently that the unis were hideous.  Embarrasing, actually.  But I guess that's fitting for the Greg Ostertag era.

I was thinking more of the Rickey Green/Adrian Dantley era. Salt Palace/Layden era. I'm old.

I'm just here for the beer...
Like I said, I'm only here because I'm pretty excited about this series.  I do happen to be a Jazz fan, but I'm not a dick (at least I try not to be)  I believe that being respectful will earn respect in return.  That's all.  And SERIOUSLY, I enjoy watching the Dubs play.  They play an up tempo, running game that gets your blood moving.  Much more so than the Phoenix suns, even.

As much as I like to discuss the series, the Jazz blog sites are crawling with a bunch of lobotomized homers who think the Jazz rule and everyone else sucks.  No appreciation for the game at all.

As far as coma goes, good for him.  Every community needs it's hall monitor.  I'm not trying to be redundant, so if it happens, I apologize.  But my remarks are probably going to be scrutinized more carefully because I am the "enemy".

Two things in conclusion:

  1. If game 1 was any indication, this series is gonna be exciting.
  2. Don't dis any of my wives.
Peace

are you like religious or something? Pls don't take this as an offense. But you seem mighty real. With the Internet, people can hide behind their computers talking brave and all but you have a true gentleman approach. Kudos to you!

BTW, Ws in 6.

Attn yohan
You're right about the vintage of the Jazz logo I use.  When I refer to the Greg Ostertag era, I'm talking about those repulsive teal/copper/purple that drug us down for a few years in the late 90s.  Embarrasing.

I'm the real deal
Geography has made me a Jazz fan, but I really do like the Warriors.  Plus, I respect the fact that every fan has their own preferences and opinions.

It's like country music - personally I can't stand it, but I don't think anyone that does is stupid.  That's just what they do.

And I consider myself a fan of the game.  I'd rather see GS win the series with six more like last night's (neck and neck) than to see the Jazz win by blowing out GS every game.  NOTE: I'm not saying that will be the case, just that I prefer close games over blowouts.

Oh, and I tend to ramble.

Peace

winning in Utah
It's nearly impossible to win in Utah, so I hope to hell the Warriors are ready to defend their home court in games 3 and 4, otherwise it could be a short series. More than likely, it's going to seven games though.
