Marion to the Ws? Wat U know Bout that?

It is obvious that the Warriors have some dead weight on their hands as far as salary cap issues and the fact that some of their players on their team just aren't enough to get them over that hump in the playoffs. Many rumors have suggested that the Pheonix Suns seem to be having trouble as far as chemistry, but when asking PG, Steve Nash, he says it's all good. Despite their great game play on the court, there may be many things off the court bothering the Suns great franchise.

Star-divide

A few days after the Suns had been eliminated from the playoffs, many rumors began to arise that all-star Forward Shawn Marion was going to be traded. A couple writers wrote:

Are Suns shopping Marion?

Just like the Valley heat, Shawn Marion trade rumors again are prevalent before the official start of summer.

One scenario has the Boston Celtics acquiring Marion in a trade that would give the Suns the fifth overall pick in the June 28 NBA draft, center-forward Theo Ratliff (whose contract expires after next season and would provide $11.7 million in salary cap space) and guard Delonte West.

A league source confirmed Celtics coach Doc Rivers' interest in Marion, and Danny Ainge, the Celtics' executive director of basketball operations, has been a fan of the forward since being his first Suns coach....

However, the Suns could pursue an affordable free agent such as Orlando Magic swingman Grant Hill to make up for that sort of dynamic in a Marion deal.

A trade is being considered because Marion, 29, will make $34.25 million over the next two seasons.

Article taken from ProSportsDaily.com

In any case I began to mess around with the thought of Marion going to the Warriors for obvious reasons,

  1. He fits into the game style of our play
  2. Workable trade
  3. REBOUNDS
  4. High-flyer, and a great team player
  5. Still in his Prime
So I decided to go on to REALGM.com to check whether a trade could be done or not. It turns out that supposedly we could trade,

SF/PF Al Harrington
6-9 from St. Patrick's (HS)
16.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.9 apg in 32.9 minutes

C Adonal Foyle
6-10 from Colgate
2.2 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.4 apg in 10.0 minutes

#46 Pick in the 2007 Draft

for

SF/PF Shawn Marion
6-7 PF from UNLV
17.5 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 1.7 apg in 37.6 minutes

PG/SG Eric
6-6 from Nebraska
2.3 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.3 apg in 6.0 minutes

#59th Pick in the 2007 Draft

(to view this trade scenario go to www.realGM.com and type 3931092 in trade ID in the box on the left-hand side)

REALGM.com Approved the deal. So anything is possible. The Suns need another big man to ease the work load of (Should have been drafted by us) PF/C, Amare Stoudamire. Just like the Warriors, the suns lack a big man to be able to have a presence underneath the basket as far as defense, but in this deal the Suns get both, the shot blocking king from Colgate, Adonal Foyle, and one of the most versatile and skilled SF/PF in the game, Al Harrington, who has atleast 7-9 more years of basketball left in him. For us we get a rebounding machine, someone who is relentless on the boards, and who is never afraid to drop a bomb on a seven footer and rip the rim off, Shawn Marion. Eric Piatowski, near the end of his career, can still shoot the 3 pointer and has played point guard before during his tenure with the Chicago Bulls. Overall, I believe that this will relieve alot of the stress from having to pay Foyle that huge contract, and in the long run hopefully if necessary, he is another beautiful trading chip, who would you like to keep? Marion or Richardson? Only if the rumors are true that we are looking to "move" Richardson.

P.S. Why Yi? If were going to trade up why dont we just go for DURANT? Give up Richardson for him you know? I mean it makes more sense anyways. We have Richardson, one of the greatest in the league right now? I don't know about you but I like the team like it is now and I don't think we need to trade our mains like Monta Ellis, Baron Davis, Jason Richardson, Andris Biedrins, if we have to get rid of the rest that's fine... I'd play with 4.

Poll
Would the Suns trade SF, Marion/PG, Piatowski & #46th Pick to the Warriors for C, Foyle/SF-PF, Harrington #59th Pick?
Yes, due to the fact that the Suns do need another inside presence such as Harrington & Foyle

No, because Marion is much too valuable to the Suns

You got the right idea
But the MAIN reason the Suns are trying to unload Shawn Marion is because their team payroll has put them into the luxury tax bracket.  Marion is the highest paid player on their team and he's not even the superstar of the team, so naturally he's the one getting shopped.

That being said, they would never trade for Harrington and Foyle because that would put them in an even worse financial situation then they are now.  They're looking to acquire expiring contracts and/or young cheap talent (draft picks).

Also, we'll never be able to trade for Durant.  Seattle joked that they'd trade their #2 pick for maybe "Wade and someone else.." and that's already more talent than the Warriors could offer.

Let me ask you this:
If the Ws have no room to play Foyle, what makes you think the Suns could use him? Reminder: The Ws are wannabe-Suns. Both teams cannot (and will not) use an aging, heavy-footed big as it goes against their style of play.

C'mon dude
He's the "Shotblocking King from Colgate!!!" What more do you need to know?

What???
There is always room for me Adonal "ALUMINUM" Foyle. After all I am the heart and soul of this team, and I'm well rested.

If we wanted Marion
it would probably take:
  1. Jason Richardson
  2. Al Harrington
  3. #18 pick
  4. A 3rd team with expirings
In other words, its probably not gonna happen.  I would rather take that trade, add Monta and POB and get KG.  It also works on trade checker.  I'm sorry, but I'm just trying to be realistic.

BTW, while Rashard Lewis is a good player he doesn't really bring anything to the club that we ddon't already have.  He is a really good perimeter offensive player.  He also doesn't play D and is not that much better a rebounder than J-Rich.  I would pass looking for someone who more fits our needs.  No need to recreate the wheel here.

i agree
we might as well add monta and POB to the mix to see if the TWolves would bite for Garnett (which i still don't think they would).

i love marion's game but i just don't think they'd bite.

speaking of marion, how much nastier would we be if we had a freakishly athletic swingman like marion or iguodala? mmmmm, nasty...

No way ....
That trade happens. Steve Kerr would have to be smoking crack!
