Lee, Frye, Q - Jrich, POB, and 18?!

Anbody think this deal is good? If New York would be willing to trade Lee and Frye for Kobe why not J-Rich? I think this deal could really help our team rebounding wise and offensivly in the future. Guards are easy to come by and if we want Monta to develop we gotta let go of J-Rich. I know how everyone thinks hes been loyal to  the franchise, etc but really his game has been limited to jump shots now. If you take away the 3 the Warriors would be dead!

I think
JRich really is the face of the franchise.

He not only plays with heart and desire, but he's stuck with us through thick and thin. I know it doesnt seem like much, but look at it this way. Do you think Baron would have stuck with this franchise the way JRich has before? Would he still be content with being on this team before the blockbuster trade.. without JRich here too?

I love Baron and his game, dont get me wrong, but JRich has done nothing but love this town and franchise since Day 1.
And that's the kind of player I call a FRANCHISE player.

it seems
a little lopsided for the warriors, like most of your other trade suggestions.

Hmmmm...
If New York would be willing to trade Lee and Frye for Kobe why not J-Rich?

Ballin', you know I'm a nice guy (;-)), so I'll just say this: I really think you can figure out the answer to this question.

Please stop commenting on my diarys
Sleepy Feud, just stop hating on me. Its a realistic proposal. David Lee is a monster on the boards, Frye has the potential to be way better than POB and Q Richardson is hella deadly from downtown on a fast team. If you mean stuff in the nicest way, just please dont comment on my diarys then, if you have nothing to say!

Its not lopsided. J-Rich is not all that good. He  makes super dunks, which makes him look good. Arenas was better, its just that he couldnt dunk so everyone though J was better. Lee and Frye have the potential to be deadly on a run and gun team! New York will get some good players in return from the Warriors who can play in the NY system.

Most of the talent headed west.
If I'm Mullin, I make that trade in seconds.  It's lopsided in that the Warriors aren't giving up enough to get that back.  Lee is a monster on the boards.  He's a monster on the boards who doesn't hurt his team by jacking up bad shots.  He knows his range and sticks with it, drains his FTs and as a result, his 10 points don't come at the expense of other players on his team.  QRich was likewise a valuable player.  New York would be giving up arguably their two most effective players from last season, one of whom is still very cheap

Frye was terrible last year.   Abysmal.  He's young, so perhaps he'll return to his first year form which showed promise, but any player, especially a 7 footer, has more FG attempts than points scored, they're hurting their team.  NY would have won more games if Frye had played less.   Still, replacing a guy who showed promise (but will likely remain mostly a stiff) for a guy who hasn't shown promise (and will likely remain a stiff) doesn't seem to help them.

The realistic part about the trade is that Isiah Thomas is on the other end. He's been good at finding talent late in the draft, but his trades have been really bad.  He seems to favor scoring average above everything else and seems shocked with a collection of guys competing for the ball on offense and jacking up shots but unable to get ahold of the ball on defense lose games.

by jae on Jun 21, 2007 9:21 AM PDT up reply actions

if
David Lee is a monster on the boards, and if Frye is better than POB, and if Q-Rich is really deadly from outside, and if J-Rich isn't really that good, then why would the Knicks even consider this trade (other than the fact that Isiah has no idea of how to run a team and the fact that they already have Jamal Crawford)?
Ronald Reagan was a jerk.

by Nooob on Jun 21, 2007 9:31 AM PDT up reply actions

bingo
...other than the fact that Isiah has no idea of how to run a team...

And thus, it's not completely implausible.

by jae on Jun 21, 2007 10:53 AM PDT up reply actions

New Yorkers really like Lee though
If they got rid of their double-double bench spark, who for whatever reason didn't get starts over inferior bigs, they'd go loco and boycott MSG.

He's the People's Champ over there.

Also Lee's not the softie Murphy turned into.

do u know what lopsided means? u said the diary was lopsided, but then proceded to list exactly why it is lopsided.

Decent trade
I'd do it but we'd probably lose David Lee after one year because we extend Monta and AB.  Although I'd rather have Lee than Frye if it came down to choosing one of them.  Either way though, I doubt NY would do this because Isaih is looking for a PF to complement Eddy Curry rather a shooting SG/SF that doesn't do anything but shoot 3s.

uhhhh.. oh

Would
POB compliment Eddy Curry? lol.

by WarriorFanForLife on Jun 20, 2007 9:52 PM PDT reply actions

Beh!
How is this a lopsided trade for the Warriors? You'd think Mullin would give a big ol' "HELL NO" to Isiah on this one.

Lee has a nice motor and would be a good Warrior, but we'd have the same problem resigning him as we will Monta and Biedrins: all three small salaries giving way to free agency in one single offseason would not bode well. Quentin Richardson hasn't had a decent season since he was traded from the Suns. And Frye hasn't really proven anything yet IMO. And for all of that, we lose JRich, last year's lottery pick, AND this year's pick? Ugh.

Actually, I agree
Somehow, it's a terrible trade for us and a terrible trade for them. It takes a certain kind of mad genius to come up with a deal like that...

by Warrior fan 23 on Jun 21, 2007 12:38 AM PDT reply actions

Everyone just
likes superstars. Thats why you think my trade proposals are stupid. Big name players are not always the best!

Half you guys think Gerald Wallace is good? Are you kidding me? He plays for the worst team in the league and all his shots are down low and he takes like half the bobcats' shots. How hard is that??? He is OVERRATED!!

"Intensity, Integrity, Intelligence" - Kurt Angle

by ballin on Jun 21, 2007 7:09 AM PDT reply actions

Wallace is good, not great, but good.
If getting a whole bunch of shots to drop on a bad team was so easy, why do so few players do it?  When the Warriors were Bobcats bad, I heard line after line about how guys couldn't hit a higher percentage because they were the only guy on the team who could make a shot.

Guys who know their range and convert their shots seem to do it on good or bad teams.  Wallace isn't a world-beater, but he's a good player who helps his team more than he hurts it.  He'd be an asset to this team if he didn't cost a bunch to get.

by jae on Jun 21, 2007 10:56 AM PDT up reply actions

thats true ballin
many teams have superstars and the team isnt too good (minnesota, houston)
but look at the bulls, they dont have one superstar and are a good team, they have good chemistry and get along, if i was the warriors i would make this trade instabtly, fry is going to be very good one day, and lee would give the warriors a nice rebounder and hustler instead of a selfish showoff in jrich

Man, you just cant get off the topic of the Bulls. You just claimed that JRich isnt a superstar in another post and now you're saying and now it look like you're implying that JRich really is?

In the Warriors case, we dont truly have a clear cut superstar, we're a good team, have good chemistry, and get along. What makes the Bulls so much better with the fact that they were knocked out of the Semifinals (where we did too) but in the Leastern?

If you're not willing to concede that the Western conference is much better than the East, you're even stupider than I pegged you for.

On a side note, no one here gives a rat's ass about the Bulls.

Mercury news blog site. Are you him? Does anyone here remember that kid? He was way out of control.

by dallaswarrior on Jun 22, 2007 3:24 PM PDT up reply actions

A lateral move at BEST
in my opinion. If we were forced to trade J-Rich, I think it'd have to to be in a package for a bigger name. Lee would be a nice addition and would put a bandaid on our gunshot wound of rebounding issues but could you count on him to guard Boozer or Duncan in the playoffs? Frye really hasn't proved anything yet. I was sorta upset he went before Diogu, but he's not much better at this point. I don't like the idea of having to take on Q's 4 years on his contract. He doesn't play a lick of defense.

by phiLthyphiL on Jun 21, 2007 9:33 AM PDT reply actions

The
Knicks would never trade David Lee to us, he's their future. If we wanted Lee, we'd have to give them back Monta or AB.

by J Rich 4 MVP on Jun 21, 2007 10:44 AM PDT reply actions

One Knick
that I think would be a great fit on this team though is Renaldo Balkman. He can guard multiple positions and rebounds pretty well for his size.
